Location description from owner

The England region

Strawberry Cottage sits in Isleworth to the west of London on the London Road (A315) that was originally laid down by the Romans some 2,000 years ago. It was, for centuries, the main road to the west from London before being by passed twice in the 20th century. Firstly by the A4 (Great West Road) and again by the M4.

Isleworth is a Thameside village on the north bank opposite Kew and Richmond and we are situated mid way between Heathrow Airport and the West End of London ( 30 minutes each) with excellent public transport links.

We shall be happy to provide details and recommendations on places to visit and sights to see that are simply too numerous to detail here.

We would recommend a car for visits to places such as Windsor ( 40 minutes) but central London would be accessed by public transport.

Isleworth

Local placesof interest, i.e. outside central London, include;

a) Syon House,( The Earls and Dukes of Northumberland have lived here for 400 years )

b) The Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew ,( the most complete botanical gardens in the world)

c) Kew Bridge Steam Museum,( a 19th -century water pumping station and attraction).

d) The Musical Museum in Brentford.

e) Osterley Park House,(ranked among Robert Adam's finest works).

f) Ham House,( by the Thames built in 1610).

River Bus Trips from Kew to Windsor in the East and Greenwich in the West are a lovely way to travel and explore. Hampton Court Palace, originally the home of Cardinal Wolsey, offered to King Henry in 1525 in the hope of retaining royal favour. Richmond,an attractive London village with many early 18th century houses.

For great shopping, Westfield Shopping Mall, the largest in Europe, a half hour bus ride from door to door.
Great shopping is also available in Kingston, Hounslow and Ealing Broadway.

Walking by the Thames is always attractive whilst Richmond Park, Osterley House and Syon House are close by for those that like the outdoors. There is much of historical interest that is accessible on foot from Strawberry Cottage, we shall be delighted to offer advice.

“It made Christmas 2012 possible for us.”

Reviewed 3 Feb 2013

Strawberry Cottage isa very well furnished and equipped property. It had everything we needed for a one week stay over Christmas. It even came with Christmas decorations. It was very comfortable. Our family lives nearby and we were able to visit them and have other members of our family to stay with us. It was so much more comfortable than staying in a hotel.

“Comfortable place to stay”

Reviewed 1 Jan 2013

We stayed here for over a week and found it to be a great location - bus outside the front gate, train just along the road, small supermarkets across the road. Owners were always available to help.

“Comfortable & Convenient.”

Reviewed 15 Oct 2012

Comfortable - 2 bedroom upper level self catering apartment. Convenient - Isleworth Station which is a 5 min walk from Strawberry Cottage, will take you straight to Waterloo Station, which is where you get off to see Big Ben, London Eye, Westminster Abbey etc. Located close to shops, restaurants and other places of interest. I would recommend Strawberry Cottage to singles or families, but would hesitate recommending to older people, as the stairs can be quite difficult.

“What a find”

“Clean, comfortable apartment with good transport links and helpful hosts.”

Reviewed 21 Oct 2011

This apartment is very good value for money by London standards. It is clean and well equipped and the beds are very comfortable. Sandra provides good quality bed linen and towels and lots of little extras in the kitchen. We bought day travelcards at the railway station which we could also use on the buses and the underground. This made travelling around London flexible and economical. All in all a very good find and we may be back in 2012!

“Our family is is rather experienced travelling in Britain - easy to recommend this one!”

Reviewed 16 Oct 2011

We found Strawberry Cottage extremely clean, stylish and cosy. It is very well located, when visiting London, Legoland, the Royal Botanic Garden or Hampton Court. It took us just some 35 minutes to Waterloo by train from Isleworth Station. From Waterloo you´ll be able to reach whole London easily. Owner´s are most friendly and children are very wellcome. We´ll be staying in English countryside next time, when visiting Surrey in June, but when we are staying in London next Autumn, we are certain to book Strawberry Cottage again. :)

“Cutest little cottage -- great hosts!”

Reviewed 16 Oct 2011

This is a wonderful little place to stay in London. The cottage is charming if small, and suited our needs perfectly. There is some road noise, but that's to be expected. The owners went above and beyond to be sure we enjoyed our short stay. Highly recommended!

“Well located, well appointed and very comfortable.”

Reviewed 10 Oct 2011

I stayed for three weeks and by the time I left it felt just like home. It's very well located for travel in and around London, with excellent bus services from outside the front door. It's also very handy for Heathrow airport. The unit is very well appointed with plentiful supplies of towels and linen. Sandra and Doug maintain a very discreet presence but are always available for assistance when needed. Their presence on the property gives one a sense of security when leaving it unattended during the day. I would certainly recommend Stawberry Cottage to any potential visitor and hope to use it again myself in the future.

“Search NO more!”

Reviewed 31 Aug 2011

The Strawberry Cottage was comfortable and made us feel like home away from home. Sandra made sure we had all we needed while we were there: clean towels, fully equipped kitchen, bedroom (comfy beds), lots of privacy, TV room w/ books and games, etc... we pretty much had everything we needed. The bus stop is conveniently located right in front of the cottage and the tube station is a few blocks away. The area where the cottage is located has several stores and places to eat nearby. Would definitely stay at the cottage again and would also recommend it. Thanks for the ride to the airport, Sandra. Hope to return soon! Cheers from Washington, DC!
