The Dalmatia region
Dubrovnik, the pearl of the Adriatic, has been added to UNESCO’s World Heritage list and this status is proved by the 1436 protected historical buildings.
The historical city of Dubrovnik, the former centre of the Dubrovnik Republic, is surrounded by city walls 2 km long which defended the city against attack both on land and at sea for centuries. Within the city walls a beautiful city developed with many churches, palaces and cultural monuments as well as the Stradun, a well known boardwalk for both young and old from all over the world which was once the stage for all major events. Many islands close by, a crystal blue sea, rich natural and cultural heritage, the Mljet National Park, historical villas and promenades are what make the Dubrovnik Riviera one of the most attractive destinations in Croatia. Here one can enjoy various activities, have fun all night long, enjoy autochthonic food and wine and the hospitality of the people.
Very popular beach under the city walls is a pebble beach with a terrace where one can enjoy a refreshing beverage. Near Dubrovnik, the beaches are mainly rocky, while the hotel beaches are mainly concrete terraces. An excursion to Lokrum is also a unique opportunity – swimming in a lake situated in the middle of an island and you can swim to a small cave. On the island of Lopud, one of the Elaphite islands, is a long sandy beach known as Sunj and getting to the beach is quite an adventurous walk. However, once you have reached the beach, you will see that it was well worth it.
Dubrovnik city walls represent a bond between the present and the past and serve as one of the best protection systems in Europe. Together with five defensive towers they are 1940 metre in length, and is a must-see.
Kolocep is the smallest settled island in the Elaphite Archipelago. There are two settlements on the island with sandy beaches, Gornje Celo and Donje Celo, which offer excellent conditions for the enjoyment of a clear and clean sea. The clear blue sea abounds in fish and shellfish.
On Kolocep there are many monuments such as chapels and churches and remains of stone sculptures. Settlement Gornje Celo is smaller than Donje Celo. It contains circa 20 houses, restaurant and large sandy beach. Settlement Donje Celo contains hotel, supermarket with fresh vegetables and fruits, post office, bank, exchange office, restaurants with traditional food, café bars, games, large sandy beaches with sport facilities, tennis courts etc. There is some 20 minutes walking distance between those two settlements through nice walking rode. There is nice walking rode which is connecting those 2 settlements.
During the summer there are 10-15 boat lines which Dubrovnik-Donje Celo and some 5-10 lines which are connecting Dubrovnik-Gornje Celo-Donje Celo and back. There are also boat lines which are connecting Kolocep with other Elaphite islands and also with National park Mljet. Boat ticket is from 2 to 6 euro depending on boat company. On Kolocep there are no cars since there is no car street, so if you are coming with car you can leave it in Dubrovnik port parking (24 hours safe parking with price circa 8 euro per day.)
There you can also catch ferry to Dubrovnik and enjoy its incredible beauty. Enjoy our warm hospitality, take pleasant walks to island Kolocep or explore other areas of this magnificent island.
Kolocep is a small island without road for cars just for walking. However if you are coming by car you can leave your car on 24 safe parking in port in Dubrovnik. This way you can use your car for travelling to Dubrovnik and nearby places and enjoy walking at the island without cars. Price for parking is about 5 euro per day.

"Beautiful location - excellent quiet holiday"
I would agree with Tricia's review. We had an excellent holiday, but it is very quiet and remote and you need to shop on the mainland. The view is spectacular. We enjoyed the walks to the village and went over to the city a few times - it is amazing too. My teenagers loved snorkeling at the beach. Do ask for upstairs apartment for the view.
