Description

Our Luxury Penthouse Apartment has spectacular sea and mountain views, we have a communal pool with children's section and a jacuzzi set in landscaped gardens, WiFi is available around the communal pool, and from our roof while overlooking the pool. Our private staircase from the balcony downstairs takes you up to your own 65sq.m private rooftop solarium, with sea views to approximately 180 degrees! We have provided a rattan table and chairs on the downstairs balcony and sun loungers and another set of table of chairs are upstairs on the rooftop along with a brick built barbeque and outside shower to cool off! We have recently had a rooftop toldo (sunshade) fitted up on the roof to enable you to sit up there and eat, even in full sun in August, and enjoy the sea views without burning under the sun. The toldo can be opened or closed dependant on the amount of sun you want. It only covers a third of the roof even when it is fully opened, so there is still plenty of space to enjoy

The Region of Murcia region

Costa Calida translates as the Warm Coast, and has it's own micro climate. We have found on many occasion that we are having far better weather than friends who live on the Costa Blanca!

The climate is dry and the temperature varies between a low 15c in Winter to 30c in Summer.

The busy marina of Puerto de Mazarron is only about 10 minutes drive away, the beautiful Roman City of Cartagena is only a 30 minute drive away and is well worth a visit to see the architecture and museums, you can take a trip on the tourist boat or bus, visit the museums or go shopping in Zara and El Corte Ingles!

We went quad biking in August around the Sierra Espuna, which was fantastic, mid way around we swam in a turquoise mineral lake, then had a three course menu del dia. You can also go mountain biking, walking or just soak up the flora and fauna of this wonderful nature reserve.

If you like a wet and wild adventure, you can visit the water parks in Benidorm, Vera or Murcia. The one at Murcia also has a zoo you can visit. I love animals and was concerned the animals might not be clean or well cared for, but I can assure you they were when we visited in April.

Isla Plana

Isla Plana is a typical Spanish village which has it's own small harbour and beaches, a very pretty church, a selection of everday shops including a supermarket, bank, English speaking pharmacy, hairdressers, bakery, butchers, fishmongers, tobacconist, restaurants and bars.

Isla Plana beach is reached within a 10 minute walk, this is very clean and shallow for quite a way out for children. There are a number of Blue Flag beaches in the Mazarron Bay areas and you can walk from Isla Plana to the beautiful old fishing village of La Azohia, most of this walk is along the beach promenade. The main sports on offer there are scuba diving, fishing and walking. There are many beach bars and restaurants to enjoy during your walk.

The busy marina of Puerto de Mazarron is only 10 minutes drive away if you are wanting a livelier night as it has an abundance of cafes, bars, restaurants and shops. You are also able to hire jet skis on one of the beaches between Isla Plana and the Puerto.

“Nice Apartment”

Reviewed 6 Oct 2013

Stayed here with a friend and our three kids. Its in a quiet location, not too far away from the pool, which is across the road. This is in a quiet location,, so don't expect a lively holiday! The property is in , what can be described as an urbanization of mainly residential houses and apartments, set on a hillside overlooking the main road by the sea. The "village " is roughly a mile away downhill, by the sea. There are few restaurants here, I think about four .The liveliest place is the community center which serves alcohol, and tapas. The area is a short drive away from the main port of Marazzon which has many more shops, bars, restaurants and a marina. The one thing missing is a bar or eatery in the immediate area to the apartment as everything is a drive, or a good walk away, which can be a bind coming back at night. Because we had three kids with us, and one had fallen asleep, we tried to get a taxi back one night from down the hill and waited for over an hour at 10 o clock at night !. The apartment itself is good, and clean with a nice terrace and balcony. Its small, but well equipped. There is sky TV and free view. I would say the place is better suited to four people though . Because of the positioning a car is essential

Thank you for leaving me a review James, and I am pleased you had a nice holiday. I am not sure if maybe you missed the bar/restaurant called Montemar which is only a 5 minute walk from the apartment, only half way down the hill?! We use that one if we cant be bothered to walk back, or to stop for the last drink half way home!! I totally agree, having a car certainly makes for a better holiday so you can go into the main Port, as it is only 10 minutes away, and have a far livelier night!! However, we have had some great nights in the village. We have only caught a taxi a few times, but not normally had to wait too long, and recommended numbers are provided in the apartment. I also feel a car is great so you can explore the wonderful surrounding areas. Take care, Emma.

“Absolutely Perfect!!!”

Reviewed 6 Aug 2013

We have returned from a fabulous fortnight, staying in this superb apartment! My partner and I went, with our 11 year old twin boys and their 20 year old sister! Our holiday was an absolute dream, from the great directions to the apartment and the great welcome we got from the keyholder...to the amazingly well kitted out apartment, to the super location... i am struggling to find any more superlatives to describe how lucky we were to stay here! I read the reviews here before we travelled, and did wonder could it really be that good? Well, believe me, it is. To say that it is a home from home is actually an understatment - the apartment has everything you could possibly need and want, plus more! The BBQ on the roof terrace is fabulous - makes for many a great evening admiring the spectacular views! The nearby town of Puerto de Mazarron has plenty of shops / restaurants / beaches... without being touristy ...wonderful! If you are reading this and would like any more information, please feel free to ask Emma for my email address and i will be more than happy to oblige :)

Hello Helen, thank you for this wonderful review! When I next update my website, I might ask you to write it for me!! Thank you also for the offer for future guests to contact you, that is very kind of you. We have just returned from a wonderful fortnight too, we went on the boat trip I was desperate to try and it was worth waiting for!! We even saw a dolphin playing beside the yacht!!!! Take care and I hope to help you and your family have another fantastic holiday next year, when you take your extended family this time! Em x

“What more could anyone want”

Reviewed 23 Jun 2013

My husband and I have just spent 9 nights at this fantastic apartment with its stunning views from the LARGE rooftop solarium. The apartment itself was tastefully furnished, very comfortable, very clean and well equipped with everything you could possibly need. Emma and Paul have obviously put a great deal of effort into making sure that it is a home from home experience. We were looking for a lazy/relaxing holiday in an uncommercialised area of Spain and that is what we got, everything in walking distance or only a ten minute drive to Puerto Mazzarron for more choice of bars/restaurants/supermarkets/shops etc. There is nothing more to add which has not been covered in previous reviews. I would definitely recommend this apartment to family and friends and would love to return. Thanks once again for everything.

Hello Diane, and thank you so much for your review. I am so pleased you managed to relax and take it easy. Hopefully speak to you again soon, when you are ready to organise your return trip. Hopefully with Jess this time!! Take care, Em x

“Fantastic family friendly apartment a real home from home”

Reviewed 7 May 2013

We stayed at this apartment with 3 children, one being a young baby, plus 3 adults in August 2011. The spacious accommodation was very well equipped with all "mod cons" including TV's in the lounge and both bedrooms. A travel cot was provided so saved us taking our own. There was also a good selection of pool/beach toys for our 2 older children keeping happily entertained during our stay. In addition to an indoor eating area, the balcony provided shaded eating/relaxation in the afternoons or evenings. The sun terrace has a built in BBQ, shower, sun loungers, retractable hanging facilities if you wish to launder your clothes. A nice secure pool area, with a shallow area for smaller children. The palm trees will by now have grown taller providing much needed shade in August. As stated in other reviews there are lots of places of interest and good beaches in the area. The owners have defiantly succeeded in making this apartment a real home from home. Thanks for a fantastic stay.

Thank you so much for your great review Sally, and thank you for recommending us to your sister, who is due to go this October, that in itself is the best review you can give me!! Also the fact that your husband works in travel speaks volumes!! I am glad we have achieved what we wanted in providing a 'Home From Home'. Take care, and thank you again, Em x

“Lovely penthouse apartment with stunning roof terrace views”

Reviewed 25 Apr 2013

This is a fantastic penthouse aprtment with everything you need for a relaxing holiday. The owners have furished it to a high standard and it is definitely a home from home. The very large roof terrace is a lovely area and has stunning panoramic views of the Mojon Hills. The apartment is in a lovely new complex and has access to a large pool area. It is within walking distance to local shops, bars and restaurants as well as a beach area. Just a short drive away is the pretty Port of Mazarron with many bars and restaurants and a lovely sandy beach. Also worth a visit is the city of Cartagena. There are also lots of restaurants within a short drive. Definitely hoping to return soon.

Thank you for your lovely review, we love the rooftop solarium and the views too! I look forward to welcoming you back to our holiday home soon. Em x

“Home from home”

Reviewed 6 Mar 2013

We stayed here for one week. There is everything you need in the apartment. The roof terrace is great for BBQs. The pool is close by. id suggest to hire a car for this apartment as this will allow you to use it as a base and explore the other towns and beaches. Overall a very relaxing holiday and well maintained apartment.

Thank you for your lovely review, and for recommending our apartment to your family who have also stayed there. I agree a car hire definitely makes for a better holiday as there are so many lovely places to visit.

“This apartment had everything you could wish for.”

Reviewed 23 Feb 2013

The apartment was very well appointed with everything one would wish for in a holiday apartment. The owners had obviously furnished and serviced it for their own use and had scrimped on nothing. We had played a bit of golf and found all courses we played to be very friendly, accommodating . Two courses are within very close proximity and were of a very good standard. The Port of Mazaron was a lovely place for an evening stroll and there were plenty of places for walks in the region. Loads of good restaurants in the area. The Guns of Mazaron are definately worth a visit. Whilst the road is a bit 'hairy', the views are spectacular and the whole area and size of the guns took our breath away. we had not expected anything on this scale. Cartagena is a must visit with its history and archetecture. Would recommend the motorway for most journeys. We were there in Feb. and it was unusually cold (but bright) so were unable to take advantage of the 'hot time' facilities but there was certanly plenty of them. An area with plenty to do and discover. If wi-fi is a priority then expect dissappointment with reception.

Many thanks for your lovely review of our apartment, and I am so pleased you enjoyed your stay. Yes, I agree, the communal wifi can be a little hit and miss sometimes, and you seem to have to sit in a specific place on the edge of the bed to obtain reception. I hope you have a wonderful anniversary holiday in Mauritius later in the year. Best wishes to you both, Emma.
