“Fishing holiday in South Uist.”

Reviewed 23 Jun 2019

We four men stayed at 6 Ardmore for a week beginning 15/6/2019. The cottage exceeded our expectations . It was beautifully furnished and very clean . The most important aspects i.e. The comfort of the beds and a hot shower were both very good. The owners, Joe and his wife were very helpful and hospitable people. Joe even took a look at our outboard motor which failed- beyond the call of duty I reckon. The position of the cottage was ideal for our trips out to the machair and hill lochs where we planned to fish. The TV proved beyond me to operate as it was a combination of controllers. A little written advice on this would help. There were cleaning materials , wash up pads and dishcloths a plenty. Also a good supply of toilet rolls and kitchen paper. Towels were supplied as was all linen and all were clean . Wifi was available but not fast enough to stream films etc.ok for Google and checking emails . The fishing here was a bit mixed. The hill lochs fished well as would be expected. The machair lochs on the other hand, were difficult due to cold wind from west keeping the fish down. Despite this we had a great holiday, spending some time driving around the islands , visiting the museums and the archaeological ruins. There was some quality bird spotting also with Hen harrier, short-eared owls and eagles in residence. All in all I would thoroughly recommend this holiday rental cottage . Clearly the owners have brought it up to a high standard and are maintaining it at that level.

Our arrival was late due to the ferry crossing, when we arrived our cottage was breathtakingly beautiful. It had everything we could possibly imagine. Karen was on hand if we had any questions and nothing was too much trouble. We were a group of eight and it was just perfect

“A week in heaven”

Reviewed 2 Jul 2017

This is a very comfortable place to stay. The conservatory is cosy and warm and we spent most of our time there when not eating sleeping or out seeing the sights. The kitchen is very well equipped with dishwasher and clothes washing machine. The pots pans plates etc are plentiful. The beds are comfortable. At the bottom of the drive is a little loch, with a bench where you can contemplate the distant mountains. The house is situated near the causeway to benbecula and has a nearby(couple of hundred metres) supermarket that that is well stocked and just across the causeway is the co-op which is open 7 days a week till late. The house also has the best wifi I have ever experienced on the islands. As a family who surf the web lots it did not disappoint.
