“Great!”
Balblair cottage is so cosy and super clean. Barbara (Owner) was very friendly, helpful and gave us a warm welcome. Everything you want was just there. We really enjoyed the lighting the fire place, which was a new experience for us. It is close to all amenities and you can see many things around within a short drive from the cottage. It is situated in a very calm and peaceful area. We loved our stay in this lovely cottage and would definitely recommend to anyone. This would be our home whenever we come to Inverness again! Thank you Barbara (and parents) for your hospitality. Shashini
It was a pleasure to have you stay! We are delighted that you enjoyed the cottage and the area. Thank you for staying with us and for taking the time to write a review. We look forward to seeing you all again one day. Best Wishes, Barbara & family
“Excellent self catering accomodation and very central Location”
We were running the Lough Ness Marathon and staying on for a few days to see the area. The Cottage we stayed in was the Barn and it was extremely clean, warm and spacious. All the facilities provided were home from home and of a high standard. We even managed to wash all our running gear. The location was perfect, only a short drive to Inverness and the 24 hr tesco down the road, but yet in a quiet idyllic spot for some peace and quiet. We were not stuck for things to do after our run as the area is jammed with historic sites and we even managed to see some dolphins on the black Isle and made the short trip to the Cairngorm National Park where there was even more active things to do. Would definately use again if in the area and Barbara the owner made us feel very welcome, even down to the shortbread and oat cakes provided for our arrival. Beautiful part of Scotland
“Well equipped cottage in superb location”
we had a lovely week up north and the cottage was a superb base. Our 3 girls ( 8, 6 & 6 ) loved exploring Nairn beach for sea shells, watching dolphins from Fortrose, searching for Nessie and generally taking it easy. I hope that the ponies didn't put on too much weight from all the apples and carrots they fed them. Barbara was a great host making sure we felt very welcome. The Ness walk through Inverness was lovely as was Dores Beach ( and Dores Inn ). The Kids also loved Landmark in Aviemore.
Thanks for all the tips of where to go and what to do, especially for families. The ponies may have put on a wee bit of weight with all the extra carrots but they loved having the girls stay...as did we. Best wishes, Barbara.
“The most relaxing and comfortable stay”
Being greated by Barbara on our arrival was just wonderful, made us feel very welcome indeed. Home made biscuits was a perfect touch after our long days drive to this beautiful location. Very central to all the places that we wished to visit and having this lovely place to stay made it all the worth while coming back to after each days outings. Would love to come back and stay again
“A really comfortable base for a family holiday in an area well worth exploring”
Coming from the west coast, we wanted to do a few towny things but didn't want to stay in Inverness. A short drive through the country (take the back road via Culloden rather than the A96) took us to the Aquadome, Eden Court Theatre, soft play and other child-friendly activities in Inverness. Heading off in the other direction was Cawdor Castle, fun and games in Nairn and the lovely Morayshire Coast. We went to Hopeman Beach and made a nostalgic visit to Miele's Ice Cream Parlour there and dropped by at the Findhorn Foundation and the Morary Arts Centre. We did lots - but have left lots to do next time as I plan to return for a winter break too. The cottage was warm, comfortable, immaculately clean and we were delighted to come back "home" every evening to the ponies outside and the farm cat snoozing in the barn. Great for kids, families, couples and anyone who wants a peaceful retreat at the end of a busy day exploring the many castles, beaches, villages and distilleries in this area.
