Very Good

“Excellent self catering accommodation in a prime location for exploring the north of Scotland”

Reviewed 10 Jul 2014

We have stayed in the Byre at Balblair Cottages on several occasions and each time we have had a fantastic holiday in what is a true home from home. The cottages are extremely well finished and equipped with everything you could think of, even down to a tea cosy! They are also set in a lovely quiet and peaceful location which is ideal for a relaxing holiday but still close enough to Inverness Airport, the city centre and the main road links for sightseeing. One of the many attractions for us is that pets are welcome, and our dog loves his holidays there, lying on the patio after an exhausting day at one of the many beautiful and unspoilt beaches close by. The wood burning stove is an added bonus providing a cosy and homely atmosphere for relaxing in the evenings. All in all, a fabulous place!

“Great way to spend a week near Inverness”

Reviewed 8 Oct 2013

After traveling for over a week, it was nice to relax and spend a week in a place we could easily call home. The accommodations were all that we expected and fit our need perfectly. Being able to cook our normal breakfast (not that we didn't like the full Scottish breakfasts we'd had until now) and dinners was not only easy on our pocketbook, but our waistline as well. There are many more things to see and do in the area within a days drive than can be covered in a week. Our hosts were most friendly and made us feel at home. We only hope that we can visit here again. Jim & Terry Reno, Nevada USA

“Wonderful time in the highlands”

Reviewed 28 Jul 2013

We thoughly enjoyed our stay at Balblair Cottages. We stayed in the Byre which is a 2 bedroom cottage, nice and roomy especially for a couple. All the facilities were excellent and the kitchen had everything you would want. The courtyard was lovely especially when the sun was shinning and we had lots of that during our stay. Barbara was a great host and her mother makes the best shortbread! The cottages are very central to all the sights around Inverness. If you get a chance do a cruise with Jacobite cruises on Loch Ness, we had a fantastic time. Also the cottages are only a short drive from Culloden Moor (a must see) and Cawdor Castle (beautiful gardens). We really enjoyed our time in the highlands, so scenic and beautiful where ever you go.

The Byre at Balblair Cottages was a wonderful place to stay, the house has everything you need for self-catering and we felt very welcome by the nice owners. The location is also really great for trips all of Northern Scotland including a visit at Loch Ness, many Scottish castles and walks by the beautiful coastlines and in the mountains. There are many shopping opportunities as well and Inverness and Nairn are very close. We enjoyed our stay so much, we wished we had booked another week!

“Lovely cottage with wonderful views, excellent location for exploring the Moray Firth.”

Reviewed 10 Apr 2013

A lovely and comfortable cottage with great views over to Black Isle. The sunny weather was a welcomed change to the long winter and made exploring the area and visiting friends really easy. We look forward to our next visit.

The views of the Black Isle and Moray Firth are lovely...we're glad that enjoyed them and found Balblair Cottages an idea location to explore the area. We look forward to having you stay again. Kind regards, Barbara.

Great accommodation in a great location, far enough from town to be private but not too remote. Kids loved being on a farm with ponies in the field outside the property. Highly recommend it to get away from the City for a few days, but plenty to keep the kids amused within easy travelling distance. We will definately be back.

Thank you for your review. The ponies love getting all the attention! We are glad that you enjoyed your stay and found the location ideal for your holiday. We look forward to seeing you again. Best wishes, Barbara.

“A lovely place in fabulous surroundings”

Reviewed 11 Sep 2012

Despite booking the north of Scotland for the end of summer we were very lucky with the weather. We enjoyed the sandy beaches, seal and dolphin spotting, walks in the forest as well as activities for the children such as Land Mark and the Wildlife Centre in Aviemore (to see the sighitng of pine martens and red squirrels we didnt see in the wild!)
