Old Bridge Inn, as its name suggests, was formerly a coaching inn built in the 1820s alongside the Skipton-Kendal turnpike road. In 2003 it was converted into a cosy, modern, comfortable cottage and now provides a superb base to explore the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District. Set on the edge of the picturesque village of Ingleton, the cottage has rural views front and rear and has access to a private stretch of riverbank where you can dip your toes on a hot summers day.
The cottage is spacious and well-equipped, and has 3 bedrooms - one double with an en-suite shower room, one twin and one single. Downstairs there is a large living room, a modern dining kitchen and a cloakroom. The village centre is 5 minutes walk away and there you can find numerous shops, pubs and cafes.
For the children, there is an excellent playground, an open-air swimming pool (summer only), White Scar Caves and the scenic Ingleton Waterfalls Walk. The wonderful Yorkshire Dales are right on the doorstep, and a half-hour drive brings you to the Lake District towns of Windermere and Ambleside.
This is a great place for walkers, families or those who just enjoy the beauty of the National Parks.

The Yorkshire region
Old Bridge Inn is an ideal base for exploring the glorious scenery of this part of northern England, especially the Yorkshire Dales and Lake District National Parks, and the Forest of Bowland.
Plus there are numerous tourist attractions and interesting towns and villages to visit. The seaside and the wide open spaces of Morecambe Bay are a short drive away.
The Ingleton area is well known as "The Land of Caves and Waterfalls". All around is magnificent limestone scenery of cliffs, caves and streams that mysteriously disappear into the ground! White Scar and Ingleborough Caves are open all year round, and the brave can descend into depths of Gaping Gill on two weeks each year.
It is a walkers paradise, whether it is the strenuous 24 mile Three Peaks Walk or the more gentle, but nevertheless stunning, Ingleton Waterfalls Walk. The village has a wide range of shops, pubs, cafes, an Italian restaurant and (according to Mike Harding) "the best fish & chip shop in the Dales". There are frequent events and festivals throughout the year, including the 1940s Weekend, the Folk Festival, the Ingleton Gala and the Wild West Weekend.
The village also has a climbing wall, a summertime open-air swimming pool and a great children's play area.

"Wonderful cottage, everything you could want or need."
The cottage was very well equipped, everything had been thought of, there are games, dvd's and books, there's even a pair of binoculars. It was clean, warm and comfortable and very spacious. The next door neighbour is also very friendly. Just a short walk into Ingleton there are cafe's and pubs serving pub food. If you want to celebrate, The Traddock in Austwick is a wonderful establishment, 5 of us celebrated my husbands 70th birthday there, afternoon tea is also very good. The Yorkshire Dales is an outstanding area to visit whether you are a walker or prefer to drive, the scenery is stunning, Ingleton is well situated to do whatever you prefer to do.

"Well equipped cottage in great location"
We have just enjoyed our 9th stay in this cottage. It is ideally placed for walking in the Dales and for access to the coast and Lake District - 45 minutes to Morecambe and about 50 minutes to Windermere. It is situated on the main A65 road, which can get busy, however, the cottage is well sound proofed and has thick walls. The rear opens out onto a lovely courtyard area which catches the evening sun - perfect for resting weary legs after a day on the fells! The cottage is very clean and modern, though has some history as it was once part of The Bridge coaching inn. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you would require. All the rooms are spacious and have lovely views across open countryside. There are also maps and books available for guests to read/borrow during their stay which is nice. There are several pubs in Ingleton village, all within walking distance of the cottage, also a local co-op and lovely bakery for essential provisions. Ingleton village is great for families with children - there is a well equipped playground and open air swimming pool (open in the summer months). There are lots of short walks that can be done from the cottage, making it a nice break from using the car. All in all, a lovely place to stay.
