The Yorkshire region

Yorkshire is a county of contrasts, the rolling Pennine hills and the beautiful soft valleys The Tour de France is passing through Yorkshire in July and we are situated only 5 miles from the route, we have a large secure building for storage of cycles. Easy access to Huddersfield, Leeds, Wakefield. The spa town of Harrogate and historic York. The Peak District is only 15 mins away and Chatsworth House the seat of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire is under 1 hour drive away. The Yorkshire dales and the Bronte country are 1 hour away. For shoppers the Meadowhall shopping center is 25 mins away.

The Yorkshire Sculpture Park a favourite place to visit and The Hepworth Gallery are only 15 mins away,

We have local walks from the doorstep round 3 reservoirs and then call and have a drink at the local public house.


Ingbirchworth is a small village on the border of South and West Yorkshire, with lots of local walks, close to the Pennine Way. A village shop and public house are a 5 min walk away. A large reservoir to walk around and absorb the views. Holmfirth nearby is a busy little town where the TV programme "Last of the Summer Wine" was located. The new Hepworth gallery at Wakefield and Yorkshire Sculpture Park at Bretton are close by.

"A wonderful place to stay, fantastic for family celebrations."

I hired this place to celebrate my father's 80th birthday with family and believe we could not have found anywhere better. The property was perfectly maintained containing everything you required with plenty of car parking space and a lovely outdoor seating area. The owner, Hilary and her family, could not have been more helpful and had gone that extra mile to ensure we all enjoyed our stay. There was tea, coffee, sugar and milk waiting for us on arrival as well as a bottle of wine and box of chocolates. They even provide a decorated birthday cake and a birthday helium balloon. There was plenty to do close by and a pub serving good food within easy walking distance. What more could you ask for? Thank you Hilary.

"Fabulous accommodation with a great welcome, it was just perfect."

This is a fabolous accommodation, great space both inside and out. The gardens are beautiful and private. The bedrooms are well presented, spacious and comfortable. The living areas very homely and the kitchen is fully equipped with everything you could need. All the little touches and a great welcome make this a perfect holiday. It was so good we didn't want to leave the house.

"Fantastic house"

We booked The Grange for my sons Graduation , myself my husband and our 4 children aged 23,21,20 and 17. There was plenty of room and everything you needed was to hand. We all slept well thanks to the comfy beds. Plenty of bathrooms and loos so no having to wait around for people to finish. The garden is beautiful and the well a fantastic feature. The house is of a high quality and you can see a lot of love , time and expense had been spent on it. Would certainly stay here again and would highly recommend it. The chocolate cake and bottle of wine awaiting us went done a treat it was great not to have to rush around and buy essentials as milk , tea , coffee was provided. Thank you for a wonderful few days away.

"Amazing luxurious home from home"

What a fantastic find! We needed accomodation for 6 adults and 2 children in the Cawthorne area to attend a family wedding. Could not have been better. We had very good communication from Hilary from the day we made our enquiry. The Grange was furnished and equiped to a very high standard. Everything from kitchen rolls, foil, cling film, toilet rolls, tea, coffee, sugar etc was there! The best of all was the home baked chocolate cake! The grounds were great - plenty of parking and space for our two lively grandchildren to run around in outside. Would certainly come again if we have need to be in this area and highly recommend The Grange to would be visitors.

"Just lovely, excellent stay."

Travelled with a group of friends to The Grange, we were met by Hilary and Phillipa who were very warm and friendly and they gave us a tour of their lovely house. We had a wonderful stay and would definitely recommend it to anyone.

We have just stayed at The Grange for three nights with our family. What a superb house completely refurbished to the highest standards but in keeping with the property's age. The owners could not have been more friendly and accomodating and we were made to very feel welcome with special little touches as in wine ,chocolates and a homemade cake! Also a great location with lovely scenery and lots of nearby attractions to visit. We will definitely be booking again and would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a nice family break.

"What a fantastic place to stay"

Far exceeded our expectations. We had such a warm welcome from the owners who introduced us to the property. This is one of the most magnificent restored properties we have ever seen or enjoyed. All the rooms are huge - there is plenty of space for everyone. Felt like we were indulged and pampered all of the time we spent there. The outside space was such a delight to spend time in. Truly the owners have gone the extra mile in everything they have done and continue to do for their guests. Everything you needed was provided.

A fantastic holiday home with the feel of a five star hotel! We visited with our elderly parents (limited mobility) and two teenage boys, and we all felt at home. We entered the house through a side door leading to a large utility room then through to a large well equipped kitchen with a table big enough for two and a spacious cloakroom. Next was the first of the two lounges, very comfortable with three two seater sofas, a wooden church pew (!) and window seat. The second lounge is slightly formal but nonetheless comfortable! The Dining room contains a large table seating eight, we didn't use this room choosing to eat out. More on food later! The stairs are open on one side but this is only for about six stairs and posed no problem for the OAPs with us. The master bed room with modern ensuite and shower is to one side of the house, and is huge! The Monroe room is reached by two steps and is a decent size. The other twin room has an ensuite (no shower) and a single and three quarter size bed. Again there is plenty of room. The final bedroom is opposite the twin room and is reached by taking two steps down taking care not to bump head on the door beam. The room has a dressing room with fire (not used, I think) and a comfy chair and leads through to the actual bedroom. All bedrooms were very nicely decorated, and the beds were very comfortable and have beautiful cotton bedding. The family bathroom is modern and has a separate shower cubicle. The bath is large and is very welcoming: lots of hot water and quality toiletries provided! That's the house. Now the garden! The garden is well maintained. The patio with a water well (with protective grill) has a circular wooden picnic bench. The patio is surrounded by a walled flower rockery which leads to a large grassed area, then on to further flowerbeds. Beautiful! The house is attached to a non-renovated old stable perhaps this will be phase II. Overall an amazing house, large enough if you want your own space but cosy too! There is a Tesco in Penistone, five minutes away and a corner shop just up the road. We only ate in one pub in the area - The Fountain. The food was very good and VERY reasonable - eat for £1 on a Monday- only one dish available but was good! They also offer two courses for £8 Tues to Thurs. Finally the owner was very welcoming, showed us around the house, told us about the area and even left us some essentials ( and non-essentials!) A lovely touch! Will definitely stay again.

"A beautifully restored well equipped property with the "wow" factor."

We stayed at The Grange for a long weekend to celebrate my 60th birthday with my 3 daughters and their partners.We arrived to a very warm welcome from Hilary the owner and a delicious home made coffee cake and bottle of bubbly. The old coaching inn dating back to 1624 has been beautifully and lovingly restored with great attention to detail and was spotlessly clean. The rooms are spacious with beamed ceilings, the beds are comfortable and the house is very well equipped with everything you could possibly need. There is a lovely garden at the rear with a seating area and it's own well (which can be lit at night). There are lovely walks on the doorstep and I would definately recommend a stroll around Ingbirchworth Reservoir a short distance away.There's lots to do in the area, we visited Holmfirth (Last of the Summer Wine) and the Yorkshire Sculpture Park which were enjoyed by all. The whole family had a great weekend and we couldn't recommend it highly enough
