The West Yorkshire region
Situated in the middle of the British Isles - Yorkshire is just stunning! There's something for everyone - from World Heritage Sites to moorland and dales, ruined castles and abbeys, steam railways and the great outdoors. You'll find serene gardens and unique breweries, thrilling rides and vibrant centres like York and Leeds. From attractions and scenery to sports and galleries, from the history-lover to the inquisitive child, Yorkshire has it all!
Ilkley Moor is Yorkshire's most famous location! Your cottage is situated on the very edge of both Ilkley spa town and Ilkley Moor. You are literally on the Moor as soon as you walk across the cattle grid at the entrance gates!
Whilst there is little traffic other than the odd passing sheep, deer or pheasant, you're not going to find yourself 'in the middle of nowhere' staying here. It's a rural location with Ilkley itself just ten minutes stroll down through the woods. All the key places - town and country - that you might want to get to are within easy reach (by road or by rail). As a base for sight-seeing in Yorkshire and The Dales, it's hard to beat!
The majority of the major sights (such as York) are within an hour by car, Dales Bus or train, and a large number, such as Bolton Abbey, Skipton, Harewood, Harrogate, Brontë Country and the heart of The National Park are within half-an-hour.
A day out at the seaside is also a viable. Morecambe, on the west coast, is less that 90 minutes away, and Scarborough and Filey, on the east coast, about the same.
