The England region

Devon has such a diverse and beautiful natural environment combined with a mild climate that it's not hard to see why visitors return here year after year. The coastline offer miles of sweeping golden beaches featuring some top surf spots and dramatic cliff-top walks. The Exmoor National Park provides perfect opportunities for getting active in wild, unspoilt open expanses and the quintessential rolling Devonshire countryside is an idyllic patchwork of fields, farms and overgrown hedgerows teeming with wildlife.Charming towns, quaint old villages and busy fishing harbours are just the thing for sampling a traditional British seaside holiday. There are also picturesque gardens, castles and stately home to explore.

Ilfracombe

Ilfracombe is a traditional holiday resort positioned between the Exmoor National Park to the east and the glorious beaches of North Devon's golden coast to the west. White washed houses, grand villas and an annual Victorian celebration affirm Ilfracombe's timeless elegance with a choice of shops, restaurants and the Landmark Theatre. The area around Ilfracombe harbour is a hive of activity where you can catch a boat to Lundy Island or join a fishing expedition. For a traditional day at the sideside, visit Ilfracome's Tunnels Beaches - four tunnels hand-carved in the 1820's lead to a safe seawater swimming pool, ideal for children and rock pools teaming with sealife.

“A home from home - fantastic touches”

Lovely apartment finished to a high standard Fantastic sea views from master bedroom and kitchen/ lounge area Spacious and attention to detail

“Little Gem of Ilfracombe”

Reviewed 21 Apr 2015

On arrival to the apartment, we were amazed at how clean and sparkly it looked, it was as good as new. It was very spacious and had a lot of light coming in from the floor to ceiling window. The view was amazing, and the 8 sheep outside had a lot of character, especially when they had a mad 5 minutes chasing and head-butting each other! The apartment catered for all ages, my 4 year old daughter was very pleased with the choice of DVD's, games and children's books and my Mum, Dad and I were equally as pleased with a selection for us too. We all had a good few games of Jenga! There is everything you could possible need in the apartment, and instruction manuals for just about everything. My daughter was pleased to have kids cutlery with crabs and starfish on, that made her day! The apartment is beautifully decorated and nothing can be faulted. The beds were extremely comfortable as were the sofas. The doorstops were a nice touch and also the lovely pictures on the wall, I could have spent a long time studying the map in the kitchen. The wifi worked well for us, it dropped out a couple of times, but who needs wifi when you have the delights of Ilfracombe right in front of you. The apartment is very close to the High Street shops and it's not a long walk down to the harbour via Fore Street. There is so much to see and do in Ilfracombe, this apartment is in the perfect place, it's a little gem! Thanks to the owners for letting us stay and to Claire for the welcome message and doing a great job, we'll be back in August.

“Fabulous Apartment!”

Reviewed 14 Jan 2015

I stayed at On The Rocks with my friend at a time of year when many things are closed in Ilfracombe and the weather was not so great! However it was a chance to catch up and chill out from work and the apartment was absolutely perfect for this. It is incredibly well equipped, beautifully presented, incredibly clean and tidy and the huge picture windows in the lounge and master bedroom provide constant things to watch. Everything was set up to be welcoming even going so far as to have a bottle of wine waiting and the dining table set. The pint of milk in the fridge and the tea bags were also a very welcome sight after a long drive. Directions to get to the property were spot on and the pack of information about how to work things within the flat as well as things to do around the area was very comprehensive. If I head back to Ilfracombe at some point I would not hesitate to head back to this apartment and I can definitely recommend it as a relaxing retreat what ever the time of year! Just wish I didn't have to leave and head back to the reality of work!!

“A1. Very enjoyable holiday.”

The service offered was courteous & friendly from beginning to end. The property could only be described as excellent. We arrived at night, so on awakening the next morning were delighted with the view. A few hundred yards from town down a steep hill, with the seafront about the same distance beyond that. We had a lovely week and would happily recommend to others. Thank-you.

“Imaculate apartment with sea views.”

Reviewed 16 Sep 2014

Everything you need in a holiday rental. Very clean, tastefully decorated with games, books and DVDs to keep you entertained. Large windows overlook the town of Ilfracombe and the sea. Situated on a steep hill so not a place for anyone who is not fully fit, but that would be true for most of the town.

“Superb apartment in perfect location”

Reviewed 17 Aug 2014

On the Rocks is perfectly located in a beautiful Georgian House set away from the main drag. It's easily in walking distance of the town and harbour (be prepared for a steep hill) but incredibly quiet and with a lovely sea view. The apartment itself has been tastefully decorated and comes well equipped with superior quality kitchen equipment, DVD player, Wifi, Ipod docking station and the like. The cupboards yielded a pleasing selection of jigsaw puzzles and DVDs - all current and popular choices. I'm in my 40s, my dad's in his 60s and my daughter is 6. All of us loved it and all of us hope to visit again very soon. We know Ilfracombe very well and consider this Georgian Terrace to be the best location in town.

“very nice place with great view”

great location and superb view ... being so close to the center, the parking space was a real bonus most impressive master bedroom ever!

“Lovely stay”

Reviewed 14 May 2014

On the Rocks is a beautiful apartment situated on a hill overlooking the coastline of Ilfracombe. Very clean and comfortable with all the amenities you could hope for. I stayed with my 18 month old son and a friend, and family members came to visit for supper and in the evenings. A lovely apartment which is well looked after. The communications from the owners were very pleasant and it was a well orchestrated stay. I stayed for only 2 nights but the owners kindly arranged an appropriate price to reflect this. I will be recommending this apartment to family and friends.

“Amazing!!”

Reviewed 27 Feb 2014

This has to be undoubtably one of the nicest apartments we have stayed in. Everything had been thought about. It was absolutely wonderful. I am still missing the comfy bed!! Perfect views of the sea & a short walk to the shops. Thank you Lynn & Jim. We will certainly be recommending you to our wedding guests.

“Fantastic apartment - highly recommended”

Reviewed 16 Apr 2013

I can't fault the accommodation at all. All rooms were finished and furnished to a very high standard and the lovely big windows in the lounge and front bedroom gave great views over Ilfracombe and out to sea. Booking the apartment couldn't have been easier and the owners were prompt with the booking information and easily available by phone and e-mail. Ilfracombe was a lovely place to stay, although it's pretty hilly and all roads back to the apartment were quite steep if you're walking. Great apartment, great value for money.
