Description

On the Rocks is a much loved, well equipped, two bedroom holiday apartment with panoramic sea views over Capstone. The apartment is on the first floor of a Grade II listed Georgian terrace, in a peaceful, serene location, overlooking the historic Brockshole Field (complete with grazing sheep) to the sea. Ilfracombe Harbour and Fore Street are within a 5 minute walk, and offer a selection of excellent restaurants, including a newly awarded Michelin starred restaurant, Thomas Carr at the Olive Room (the Olive Room is small, so book early to avoid disappointment!). The Tunnels beaches are also a short stroll away.

This ideally located apartment has two bedrooms (one with double bed, one with twin beds) and can comfortably sleep four adults, with room for a travel cot (provided, along with high chair) in either bedroom if needed. Both the master bedroom and the living room have large sash windows with fantastic views out to sea. The living room has plenty of comfortable seating and a Smart TV, with BBC, ITV and Channel 4 iPlayer, NetFlix, Amazon on Demand etc. There is also a DVD player, with a good selection of DVDs, books and games. The living room adjoins a well equipped kitchen area (including washer-dryer), with a dining table which can comfortably seat 4-5. Free Wi-Fi is also provided.

There is an allocated parking space at the rear of the terrace, where the communal entrance is located. However, you may not need to move your car, as there is so much within walking distance: for nature lovers there are beautiful coves and cliff top walks; for culture lovers there are art galleries, cinema and theatre, and of course, Damien Hirst’s gallery and sculpture “Verity” at the end of the harbour wall; for foodies there are great pubs and restaurants, and an excellent local butcher, fishmonger and greengrocer as well as several bakers. Further afield, it is a 15 minute drive to Woolacombe Beach, Croyde and Saunton Sands - and Exmoor and the Tarka Trail are on the doorstep. We love Ilfracombe, we hope you do too!

Changeover day is generally Saturday but may be negotiated out of peak season. Arrival time is usually after 4pm and departure is by 10am although this may be flexible when discussed with our Housekeeper.

Short breaks (minimum of 3 days) out of peak season can be arranged.

Note: The rear entrance is sunny and welcoming, however, there are some steps leading down from the car park to the ground floor entrance, and some stairs internally to the second floor, so it may not be suitable for people with mobility issues. A very well appointed apartment, very comfortable and clean, and amazing views. Conveniently close to town, harbour, beaches and the South West Coast Path. Great location for a walking holiday, and even Ordnance Survey maps were provided.

“Little Gem of Ilfracombe”

On arrival to the apartment, we were amazed at how clean and sparkly it looked, it was as good as new. It was very spacious and had a lot of light coming in from the floor to ceiling window. The view was amazing, and the 8 sheep outside had a lot of character, especially when they had a mad 5 minutes chasing and head-butting each other! The apartment catered for all ages, my 4 year old daughter was very pleased with the choice of DVD's, games and children's books and my Mum, Dad and I were equally as pleased with a selection for us too. We all had a good few games of Jenga! There is everything you could possible need in the apartment, and instruction manuals for just about everything. My daughter was pleased to have kids cutlery with crabs and starfish on, that made her day! The apartment is beautifully decorated and nothing can be faulted. The beds were extremely comfortable as were the sofas. The doorstops were a nice touch and also the lovely pictures on the wall, I could have spent a long time studying the map in the kitchen. The wifi worked well for us, it dropped out a couple of times, but who needs wifi when you have the delights of Ilfracombe right in front of you. The apartment is very close to the High Street shops and it's not a long walk down to the harbour via Fore Street. There is so much to see and do in Ilfracombe, this apartment is in the perfect place, it's a little gem! Thanks to the owners for letting us stay and to Claire for the welcome message and doing a great job, we'll be back in August.

I stayed at On The Rocks with my friend at a time of year when many things are closed in Ilfracombe and the weather was not so great! However it was a chance to catch up and chill out from work and the apartment was absolutely perfect for this. It is incredibly well equipped, beautifully presented, incredibly clean and tidy and the huge picture windows in the lounge and master bedroom provide constant things to watch. Everything was set up to be welcoming even going so far as to have a bottle of wine waiting and the dining table set. The pint of milk in the fridge and the tea bags were also a very welcome sight after a long drive. Directions to get to the property were spot on and the pack of information about how to work things within the flat as well as things to do around the area was very comprehensive. If I head back to Ilfracombe at some point I would not hesitate to head back to this apartment and I can definitely recommend it as a relaxing retreat what ever the time of year! Just wish I didn't have to leave and head back to the reality of work!!

The service offered was courteous & friendly from beginning to end. The property could only be described as excellent. We arrived at night, so on awakening the next morning were delighted with the view. A few hundred yards from town down a steep hill, with the seafront about the same distance beyond that. We had a lovely week and would happily recommend to others. Thank-you.

Everything you need in a holiday rental. Very clean, tastefully decorated with games, books and DVDs to keep you entertained. Large windows overlook the town of Ilfracombe and the sea. Situated on a steep hill so not a place for anyone who is not fully fit, but that would be true for most of the town.

On the Rocks is perfectly located in a beautiful Georgian House set away from the main drag. It's easily in walking distance of the town and harbour (be prepared for a steep hill) but incredibly quiet and with a lovely sea view. The apartment itself has been tastefully decorated and comes well equipped with superior quality kitchen equipment, DVD player, Wifi, Ipod docking station and the like. The cupboards yielded a pleasing selection of jigsaw puzzles and DVDs - all current and popular choices. I'm in my 40s, my dad's in his 60s and my daughter is 6. All of us loved it and all of us hope to visit again very soon. We know Ilfracombe very well and consider this Georgian Terrace to be the best location in town.

On the Rocks is a beautiful apartment situated on a hill overlooking the coastline of Ilfracombe. Very clean and comfortable with all the amenities you could hope for. I stayed with my 18 month old son and a friend, and family members came to visit for supper and in the evenings. A lovely apartment which is well looked after. The communications from the owners were very pleasant and it was a well orchestrated stay. I stayed for only 2 nights but the owners kindly arranged an appropriate price to reflect this. I will be recommending this apartment to family and friends.

This has to be undoubtably one of the nicest apartments we have stayed in. Everything had been thought about. It was absolutely wonderful. I am still missing the comfy bed!! How do damage deposits work?
