Location description from owner

The England region

The South-East of England has some beautiful scenery, both along the coast and inland around the Weald and the Downs. Within an hour or so's drive are Canterbury, Rochester, Chatham, Dover and Folkestone, and within two hours' drive Brighton, Portsmouth and outer London.

From Ashford International station, about 30 minutes' drive away, you can be at London St Pancras within 45 minutes by High Speed Train.

The area has a huge amount of history alongside the scenery, with many National Trust & English Heritage properties such as Dover Castle, Canterbury Cathedral, Hever Castle and Chartwell.

Iden

We are situated in the quiet and pretty village of Iden, East Sussex, only two miles from the enchanting and historic town of Rye with its many shops, pubs and cafes to while away the time. Just a few miles further is Camber Sands with its excellent beach.

Fern Cottage is a few minutes safe walk from the village centre, where you can find the Iden Stores selling everyday provisions and newspapers, and the Bell pub dating from the 11th century with a good food menu. A few minutes further on are the attractive All Saints' Church and the park with children's play area.

There is a regular bus service into Rye during weekdays, and Rye also has a station on the Marshlink Line serving Ashford International and Hastings.

Further afield are many places of interest, including Bodiam and Scotney Castles, the Kent & East Sussex heritage railway, Great Dixter house and gardens, Smallhythe Place and Vineyard, and the attractive old towns of Tenterden and Battle, as well as the resort of Hastings.

There are also many good walks in the area - bring your stout boots or wellies!

We had a lovely stay in this sweet little coattage and we had everything we needed for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. I especially enjoyed having the log burner lit every night. Very cosy.
