Our apartment is just a 7 minute stroll down to the black sand beach of San Marcos with its reasonably priced bars and restaurants, or one short stop on the local hourly bus. This bus also runs to the picturesque old Canarian town of Icod de los Vinos, good shopping and very traditional. Icod also has several decent supermarkets. And of course it's home to the famous Dragon Tree.
From here there is an excellent network of buses to all parts of the Island... Puerto de la Cruz ( 35 mins) Santa Cruz, Los Gigantes and closer to home the attractive village of Garachicho, and its leafy squares or Buena Vista with it's superb golf course.
This area is scenic and unspoilt, and perfect for those who like walking, hiking,caving or just mixing with the locals and soaking up the atmosphere

The Canary Islands region

Playa San Marcos is situated on the North West green coast of the Island, with many places of historic interest in the surrounding areas. It has unsurpassed vistas from many viewpoints.
As well as great swimming the coast has many fishing spots.
Good Canarian food and excellent local wine.

Icod de los Vinos

Icod and its surrounds is the main wine growing area on the island
Garachico is an historic old town with cobbled streets and courtyard style houses,along with leafy squares and hidden restaurants. It's a great place to wander around and maybe sample the local wine in one of the wine bars.

“Relaxing stay in lovely area of Tenerife”

Lovely, spacious apartment in the small, quiet town of San Marcos. The kitchen is well equipped and the bathroom is nice and modern. Large balcony with great sea views. 5min walk to the small beach and a number of reasonably priced restaurants with lovely fresh fish! Clearer instructions to the apartment and supermarket would have been helpful as they are both quite hard to find! The apartment is in a great location for exploring the rest of Tenerife. I would recommend hiring a car. Our favourite places to visit were the nearby towns of Garachico, Icod de los Vinos, Mazca (and the surrounding mountains) and of course the Teide volcano and National Park. We had lovely weather the whole week and wish we could have stayed longer!

“CHILLED OUT RELAXATION”

We was lucky enough to enjoy a 10 night relaxing stay at this apartment in February, escaping from a miserable spell of British weather, and although we didn't get wall to wall sunshine, it was warm and we managed to spend most days on the local unspoilt beach enjoying lunch in the beach restaurants. The apartment itself was roomy and comfortable and we found we did a fair bit of cooking of an evening in the well equipped galley style kitchen. On other nights we went down and enjoyed several of the local bars and restaurants. We hope to book up again for same time next year and hope to stay a bit longer, as it would be nice to explore a little further afield.
