'Golden Eagle' itself is a comfortable, well-equipped apartment within our large cream 1930s property with terracotta tiled roof. It offers a modern fully-equipped kitchen with dining table. The large modern lounge has French windows opening out onto a spacious balcony with table and chairs and stunning sea views to the west across to Samson, Bryher and Tresco. Up the stairs, you enter a roomy lobby from which open two bedrooms and bathroom with bath, over bath shower and toilet. Bedroom one is a large bedroom with ziplink bed offering a 6ft superking double or two 3ft singles. Bedroom Two is a single bedroom offering a 3ft single bed. All apartments are personally serviced by ourselves.

When you arrive, we will be on hand to greet you and show you personally around the apartment. The beds will all be made up and the table laid with flowers together with a welcome tray of tea/coffee and biscuits. The 'What's On' list and 'Things to Do' sheets giving you important information about Scilly during your stay will be on the table ready for you to peruse at your leisure.

As an extra service, we offer an advance grocery order option whereby you can send us a list of (mainly breakfast) items which will be waiting in your apartment for your arrival. So there will be no need to go shopping as soon as you arrive. You can take your time to enjoy a cup of tea or coffee and delicious biscuits from the welcome tray while you relax and start your holiday.

Location description from owner

The England region

Hugh Town

Glandore Apartments comprise three separate self catering units (Serica, Slippen and Golden Eagle) and are situated in a favoured location at Porthloo (or Porthlow) on the west shore of St. Marys with views across the sea towards Samson, Bryher and Tresco.

Porthloo itself is little more than a hamlet of about a dozen houses, mainly surrounding Porthloo Green and facing the sea. The area is about fifteen minutes leisurely walk along the scenic beach path from Hugh Town. On the way, you pass Porthmellon Beach which is one of the most popular family beaches because of its wide expanse of sand and gently sloping beach giving safe paddling and bathing. There is a Windsurf and Sailing Centre at Porthmellon and also an excellent Cafe called 'Speros' (which was previously known as The Boatshed) http://www.the-boatshed.co.uk/

Porthloo is home to several artists workshops including watercolour artist Stephen Morris whose gallery is actually within Glandore itself. Glandore Gallery offers his original artwork as well as a range of giclee and lithograph prints and cards. The Gallery also offers artwork by his late aunt, Nan Heath, including prints, cards, postcards and a perpetual calendar.

There are four artists/craftspeople in the Duchy Barn Studios, an old granite barn next to Glandore, where you can find quirky knitted slipper socks, jewellery and accessories, watercolour, oil and acrylic artworks and cards.
Websites: (only two artists have websites)

Porthloo is also home to the spectacular and scenic 9 hole St Marys Golf Club which sits in a commanding position at the top of the hill, overlooking St Marys Harbour and Hugh Town. The Golf Club and its restaurant is open to the public and serves an excellent range of light meals from 12 noon till 2pm six days a week (closed on Thursdays).

Just below the Golf Club is Juliet's Garden Cafe, another very popular island restaurant, open from 10am seven days a week, offering stunning sea views from the restaurant and the terraced garden cafe.
