Description

This beautiful baby blue camper van will be parked up for you at the immensely popular Howth Harbour. Experience wild camping in this beautiful fishing village but with all of the benefits of Howths pubs cafes and restaurants right outside your sliding side door. Ronnie the Camper Van features cottage feel timber cupboards, a fridge, toilet and a sofa bed that faces out onto a world of activity on Dublin Bay. Small but comfortable and the perfect way to spend a solo or romantic evening.

The Space

Ronnie is a late 90's Volkswagen Camper Van. Unlike some of the more retro campers, it is actually quite comfortable and bigger inside than older vans. It features a hob, grill and sink for cooking, a fridge to keep your drinks and picnics cool, a bench seat that turns into a 3/4 size double bed. The sofa bed seat faces looking out of a wide side window, a perfect frame for the Harbour and Dublin Bay at sunset and all importantly a toilet for those late night emergencies. There

The sofa bed seat faces looking out of a wide side window, a perfect frame for the Harbour and Dublin Bay at sunset and all importantly a toilet for those late night emergencies. There is also a sound system for playing some tunes to set the mood but the gentle sound of waves behind the tinkling of bells from the boats will inevitably be enough to lull you to sleep.

Things to Note: The bed is suitable for two but its not massive so you'd need to be very good friends or more if booking for two. We'll provide clean linen, duvets, pillows and towels and an extra sleeping bag in case it gets cold.

The toilet is a camper toilet , it does flush but realistically you'll probably want to use it for number ones only. There are plenty of pubs and restaurants all around the Harbour as well as public toilets for anything more serious.

Howth is beautiful. There are fantastic walks all around the harbour and you can do a loop of the famous Howth Cliff Head in about 3 - 4 hours with a nice pub stop along the way. If coming to Howth you should definitely make time to do some of the walk if you can. You may even see a Dolphin or two and Harbour seals are resident.

Guest Access

You'll have a key to the van and its all yours for the duration of your stay. Either myself or Hannah will meet you in Howth to say hello and show you around the van and after that its all yours. Please note though that there is no insurance for guests to drive the van. This is strictly a static let and the van will be parked up in Howth Harbour which is a popular spot for campervans. You'll have a key to the van and being a modern vehicle it is very secure.

Interaction with Guests

We will meet you on arrival to show you around the van and help you understand how everything works. Its all very straightforward so should only take 5 minutes or so, after that its all yours for your stay. Depending on availability we may meet you to say farewell before you leave or ask you to drop the keys to a local shop.

Should there be any issues during your time in the van however, we live just up the road from the harbour and will be on the phone should you need us for anything.

The Neighbourhood

Howth is a small fishing village about 15kms from Dublin City Centre. There are lots of cosy pubs and restaurants around the Harbour itself with food for a varying pallet and budget. Obviously being a fishing village, fresh fish is a staple on most menus, however if fish isn't necessarily your thing The Doghouse Restaurant does great pizza at a reasonable price and also has a BYOB arrangement. The Findlater Pub across the road from the Harbour is a nice warm modern pub with a great atmosphere and a restaurant upstairs and is also quite reasonably priced. If you're after something a little bit more extravagant then Aqua at the end of the West Pier is a real treat.

If you fancy a more lively evening then try The Stream next to the DART station on a Thursday, Friday, Saturday or Sunday night, often live music in the evenings and a young crowd or alternatively Dublin City Centre is only 30 minutes on the DART and the nite link bus (Number 31) comes back from the City on Friday and Saturday nights at 12midnight, 1am, 2am, 3am and 4am and leaves from D'Olier Street in the City Centre.

Howth itself is a very beautiful area with lots of walks and hikes in the area. The cliff walk is really special and takes in The Summit Pub which is nice for food and drink and also has a lively patio area in the Summer months, The Bailey Light House, Howth Castle and then back to the village itself and takes around 3 -4 hours depending on your speed of meandering.

Getting Around

Howth is served by a Dublin Bus service (Number 31) which will bring you into the centre of Dublin. There is a bus stop at the Harbour entrance. Alternatively the DART train goes regularly from the train station which is right beside the Harbour also.

House rules

The camper is parked up in a public area. Its fine to have a drink or two but obviously nothing excessive or illegal will be tolerated. The Harbour is popular with tourists and in particular camper vans and the area is patrolled by the Harbour Master to ensure that there is no wild parties taking place. Respect for people in the other vans and the general public is expected.

Guests should leave the van in a clean and tidy condition and spillages and breakages should be reported
