"Do we have to go home?!"
A week just wasn't long enough - we had a great time and can't wait to stay here again! The house was very clean, well equipped and its location is fantastic with a great rocky area and beach just 30 seconds from the back door. The view out the back of the house is simply stunning, in good and bad weather, with St Kilda to look out for on a good day and crashing waves on a bad day! We found the 2 sitting rooms a great idea as grandad liked to watch the TV at night in one while the rest of us liked to play cards in the other! While you have to drive somewhere to get messages, there are plenty facilities where you can stock up (good sized fridge & freezer for filling!) as you want and it's also a good excuse to explore the area and neighbouring islands. For families especially, it's an ideal location with fabulous beaches and machair to explore within easy walking distance and there's plenty of wildlife to look out for - we spent ages following an otter one night on the rocks out the back! We would thoroughly recommend staying here and hope to again soon!

"Glorious location on the beautiful island of North Uist"
Really enjoyed our stay at Creagan Ruadh in Hougharry. The location is wonderful - right next to the ocean and ideal for rock pooling with the kids. Within a 100 yards or so is the most glorious white sandy beach with crystal clear blue water. And surrounding the beach the stunning machair... The accomodation itself is plenty spacious and the kids loved it. However, I think the kitchen is a bit tired and could be modernised. I'd also change the layout and put a large dining table into the first living room where the TV currently resides and move that to the more formal sitting room to the back of the property. As a family of 4 with 2 small kids we struggled a little with the dining table in the kitchen. Some of the utensils/pans etc could also do with replacing. All that said, it was a truly excellent holiday and we loved staying there - from walking to the beach, to cycling down the roads, to watching the fisherman coming in each evening.
