Former Ale House nestled in the center of Holt. Decorated in a beautiful vintage shabby chic style.
The Old Paul Pry dates from 1715, and was named after a well known local solicitor, famed for leaving his umbrella behind so that he could return !
The property has been skillfully converted into a delightful and charming holiday home. The current owners have spent many hours carefully restoring and refurbishing this Grade 2 listed house, ensuring that original beams, and features such as fireplaces are retained, whilst also adding a contemporary touch to allow for extremely comfortable living.
The two double bedrooms have en suite bathrooms, and the two twin rooms share a shower room.
There are many cafes and restaurants and shops on the doorstep, all just a few steps away, but should you wish to cook, then there is a fully equipped kitchen, with electric oven and a hob, fridge, freezer, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, and tumble dryer.
There is also a downstairs cloakroom and wc.
The comfortable lounge has a wood burner, and a flat screen TV/DVD/CD player. WiFi is also available
Dining room comfortably seats eight people.
Ideally situated in the heart of the popular and bustling Georgian Town of Holt, the property is a superb base for exploring the North Norfolk coast and all it has to offer.
Guests will benefit from having the exclusive use of the delightful enclosed courtyard gardens of the Folly Tea room, between the hours of 20.00 and 08.00, and a reserved table in a quiet sunny corner of the garden during opening hours.
The Old Paul Pry is very versatile, and can be used by couples or families or groups. It has 3 floors, with the two upper floors housing the bedrooms. These are reached by Norfolk Winder staircases - as is typical for a Norfolk Grade 2 listed house of its age. The staircases are carpeted and have hand rails, but are also quite steep, so may not be entirely suitable for guests with mobility problems.
There is no parking directly at the property, but there is car park just behind it, and the owners will pay for one car parked here for the duration of the holiday. ( Albert St Car Park)
A superb base in North Norfolk for both summer and winter holidays. We offer short breaks of 3 or 4 nights, as well as weekly lets. Changeover days are either Monday or Friday so that we can accommodate Long weekends, ( Friday to Monday) or midweek breaks ( Monday to Friday) or full weeks (commencing on either Monday or Friday).
In the off- peak season we can sometimes offer some flexibility with changeover days so please do ask if you have particular requirements

“Fabulous house in a fabulous location”
We booked this trip for a Christmas getaway to see the amazing Holt Christmas lights. I was slightly nervous that there was no parking at the house, but I needn't have been as the car park was 20 second walk away! And very cheap to stay for the weekend. (£7 per 24 hours!) The Paul pry is in the perfect location too, just seconds from Byford's, everything you need is just a stone's throw away. The house backs on to Hoppers yard, which was so magical at night with all the christmas lights! The house itself sleeps 8, each room is very large, so no one minded which room they were put in. There's 3 bathrooms and a downstairs loo, lots of space in the lounge for 8 comfortably, and round the dining room table; the kitchen was well equipped too!! Also, Judith had decorated the house beautifully for Christmas, it was just perfect! Couldn't recommend more! We will certainly be back.
“Perfect home for a short break”
We stayed over new year with another family, 4 adults and 4 children. The house is in a perfect location right in the centre of Holt. You can walk everywhere in Holt and parking is available (pay and display) in a car park only a minute or 2 walk away. The house itself is much bigger on the inside than it looks. It’s set over 3 floors, 2 bedrooms on the first and second floors making 4 bedrooms in total. The 2 bedrooms on the first floor have en-suites and those on the top floor share a bathroom. The stairs to both floors are steep so if you’re travelling with children, for peace of mind you probably want them to be confident stair climbers and old enough to climb unaided. We had no issues with the stairs - if anything extra exercise! There is no garden as such but you have access to the yard shared with the shops and adjacent tea rooms. In winter, this was no issue but in summer you’d have to wait until evening when the side gates close to use the yard privately. Hopefully in summer the weather will be so lovely you would be out all day anyway. During the day it would make us smile as passerby’s would stare into the house as due to its central location you are in the direct sight of vision. At night the area is very peaceful and quiet. We loved our stay and will certainly be back!
