“Superb accommodation, superb location”

Reviewed 3 Nov 2015

Just had a fantastic weekend at Holmfirth and staying at Churchview was excellent. The house is very welcoming and you immediately feel at home and only a few minutes walk to town.

“Very cosy well located house”

Modern furnished and well equipped holiday home. Warm and cosy with good quality bedding. Good location close to centre of Holmfirth with parking. Delicious welcome pack.

“Brilliant accommodation in charming location”

The accommodation had a wow factor when we arrived and is exactly as described and photographed! Lovely views from upstairs living room and bedrooms are very quiet so if you have young children they will sleep, well. Holmfirth is a lovely town and lots of lovely shops cafes and restaurants all within walking distance. We used as a base to travel around north west but could quite easily have stayed in holmfirth for the week so if you are looking for a relaxing break church view is ideal either way. Booking, payment, arrival instructions all very clear and owner was very welcoming and available if needed.

“This will be a hard act to follow, might have to come back!”

The property was a very recent build and there were no signs of wear and tear. Being a new build the stairs and rails were to modern standards, unlike many of the more traditional Yorkshire stone cottages with steep/narrow steps. This was good because one of our party had mobility issues and she managed just fine. It was equipped to a high standard with all the modern equipment one could expect including a decent broadband connection which could handle skype/video easily. Tastefully decorated throughout. Beds and bedding were very comfortable, the double was very soft and luxurious, the sort of bed you can just curl up into, though perhaps not ideal if you have back issues and need a firmer sleep. Fortunately I had not done my back in for a while :-) Upon arrival the owner had kindly left a welcome pack of milk, bread, butter, tea, coffee and home made cake. Local attractions and amenities close by, Co-op only ten mins walk away. Stunning views of Victoria Park and Church out of windows, it has obviously been designed with care to take advantage of its prime location. At time of writing this, Google maps and Streetview were not up to date with the location (look for the shed with the green door as you go up Rotcher Rd.) Locals were friendly and helpful. My daughter was pleasantly surprised to find a range of gluten free options in many of the local eateries!

“Excellent accommodation in an ideal location.”

We all relaxed the moment we stepped through the door so we were able to make the most of our weekend stay. We arrived in the evening, tired and bothered, after a difficult journey but that was soon forgotten when we were greeted by a warm, cosy home and a welcoming selection of goodies! The property was of a very high standard throughout and the owner had thought of everything to ensure a perfect break. Although conveniently situated near the centre of Holmfirth the property has an elevated position and enjoys a lovely open aspect.

“Home From Home”

Reviewed 29 Mar 2015

We can only repeat what other reviewers have said. This is a lovely place to spend a holiday. We appreciated the "home from home" touches, particularly the "Welcome Pack" (marmalade, craft baked bread, local butter, milk, sugar, delicious lemon cake, posh ground coffee...).It was immaculately clean on our arrival. It is the best equipped self catering cottage we've been to, having a freezer, dish washer, washing machine, microwave, etc, also a beautiful modern bathroom, a picnic table in the garden, and a "Juliet" balcony with a view over Holmfirth. It even has champagne glasses! Highly recommended!

“Home away from home.”

My partner and I stayed at Churchview for 3 weeks on our first arrival of moving to England from Paris. Catherine was incredibly kind and had us a delicious orange cake for our arrival and also provided us with fresh bread and home made jam. The house was very warm and cozy with everything provided. All we needed was to drop our bags and settle in. It really did feel like a home away from home. The location is the best it could get, being just a stones throw away from all the shops and restaurants. Yet despite it's convenience, the house itself is very quiet and peaceful. Thank you Catherine, we had a wonderful stay here and would highly recommend it to all. P.S. A special mention to the wonderful mirror downstairs. It somehow made me look like I was 2 sizes smaller. Where can I buy the same??

“A REAL TREAT, An Amazing Home From Home !”

Reviewed 8 Oct 2014

We wanted to be close to the centre of Holmfirth to attend a friends birthday party at The Vineyard; Church View couldn't be more central as a base. Just a couple of minutes walk and you are in the centre of Holmfirth with lots of great, local amenities and a short taxi ride away from The Vineyard. The property is an 'upside down' house with living accommodation on the upper level which makes the most of the wonderful views and ample parking adjacent to the property. The property seemed to be a fairly new build and is finished to an exceptionally high standard providing beautiful spacious accommodation with every amenity you would expect in a 'home from home', and lots of personal touches that made the interior feel very special. The host was exceptionally helpful at the time of booking and was kind enough to leave a wonderful cake in the property for our arrival; fabulous ! What more could you ask for !

Absolutely stunning house in an amazing location in the centre of Holmfirh. Immaculately decorated throughout, the house feels like a home from home. lovely details and little touches to make you feel welcome, like the fresh bread and homemade cake on the table when we arrived. Everything you could ever want and more for a relaxing weekend away. Thank you so much.
