“Perfect location , perfect house”

Reviewed 24 Sep 2017

Just came back from a 2 night stay at the Old Robin Hood. It was a family reunion with 15 of us staying there. Mum was 70 and so we decided to get the family together from all over the conutry and meet here. We lost dad last years , so this birthday was going to be a hard one. Had the best time though ever. Everyone from an 8 year old to an 80 year old had the best time. The place is perfect and has everything you need. We couldn't work the wi fi but it was actually nice to play board games rathe than people being in their phones. We got a tax to Sheffield on the Saturday night and it was less than 20 mins away. Would recommend this place without hesitation ! Xx

Owner's reply: Thanks for your review, great you all enjoyed. The wifi is free and doesn't require any personal info to log on, I'm sorry to hear you it wasn't as expected, but great to hear you all enjoyed each other's company even more! I have checked it and it's all working. So just a blip?

“A perfect venue”

Reviewed 6 Jun 2017

Our family used Old Robin Hood twice in a week: once for a hen do and once for guests at the wedding celebrations. Old Robin Hood provides beautiful group accommodation. It was ideal for us and the owner was flexible and understanding (We were not organised!) We recommend this venue highly.

Owner's reply: Thanks for a lovely review. As you say ideal for a big group, and we love when friends and families get together.

“Excellent”

Excellent quality throughout the cottage. Very large rooms and feeling of space. Superb views from the dining table window and garden.

Owner's reply: Thanks Paul for taking the time to do a review. We look forward to seeing you all again.

“Birthday”

Reviewed 15 Dec 2016

We had a wonderful weekend stay at the Old Robin Hood with friends for a 40th Birthday. The cottage was fully equipped and the owner was very friendly and helpful. We would highly recommend he cottage and would definitely use again for future get togethers. We are all missing the underfloor heating since we got home!

“Well equipped house in an idyllic location.”

Reviewed 14 Aug 2016

We stayed here for 2 weeks with extended family ranging from 8 months to 60 years old. Very well equipped house which really did cater for all our needs. Outstanding views in an idyllic location. Easy access to Sheffield and surrounding areas in the Peak District with a variety of activities to keep everyone entertained.

“Great weekend away for 14”

Reviewed 1 Sep 2015

14 of us stayed at the cottage for the bank holiday weekend and had an absolutely amazing time! We were attending a wedding in Baslow about 10 minutes down the road on Saturday and Sunday so most of our time was spent there, however in the time we did spend at the cottage we made full use of all the facilities- Stunning view from the garden (pictures attached) and had great fun in the hot tub. The big dining table was perfect for all getting together and having a meal - and also for a good game of beer pong!! Pool table, table football, and board games were all also made use of. Thanks for having us Aoife - we would definitely love to return!

Owner's reply: Glad you had a great time. Hope to see you all again soon.

“Loved the garden”

Reviewed 4 Aug 2014

We stayed here as a group of friends on a weekend walking trip. The house was as described, and ticked all the boxes for us. We especially enjoyed the garden and hot tub and games tables. The large lounge and kitchen was perfect for a large group, and was well equipped. We had no complaints other than slow running drains, which the owner promised to look at after our departure, as it wasn't possible in the time we were there. Other than that it was great! The owner was easily contactable and although away, checked in with us by phone shortly after our arrival to check if there was any problems that she could arrange to be sorted.

“Absolutely beautiful, breath-taking views, cant wait to return!”

Reviewed 19 May 2014

11 of us stayed at the robin hood from the 16th – 18th May for my hen party and absolutely loved it. The house is beautiful and the views from the garden are incredible. I miss sitting at the dining table looking out over the countryside, really didn’t want to come home. We had everything we needed for the weekend and the kitchen was more than ample to cook in. The house is located a 10minute drive from burbage where we went walking on the Saturday and had lunch at the fox house pub which was delicious. Another 15minute down the road is castleton which is a lovely little town which we also visited. We went into Sheffield for one evening which is around a 20minute drive away, cost £16 in a taxi for 6 people. We played table football, pool, table tennis and went in the hot tub on the Friday night which was perfect for a girly night in. Cannot think of anything to complain about at all, phone signal was pretty poor which you expect in the countryside but you could always get on the wifi in the kitchen and in some of the bedrooms. Wifi wasn’t great in the lounge but this wasn’t really an issue as we could just go into the kitchen if needed. The house was perfect for my hen do as it is located in the beautiful countryside however many towns aren’t too far away to drive to so we had the best of both worlds. Please don’t contemplate booking this place out for your holiday, you will not regret it. I hope to return again next year 

Owner's reply: Thank you for this lovely review and for sharing your recommendations for walks etc with others it is great for those who follow. The 400 year old walls do make the wifi challenging in some rooms sometimes but as you say the kitchen is best locaition! We look forward to welcoming you again..perhaps next time as Mr & Mrs. Best of luck for your big day.

“Great family gathering house”

Reviewed 21 Oct 2013

Stayed here for a family birthday, chose this because it has 5 double bedrooms with one of these and a bathroom on the ground floor for an older relative. Location is great, with lovely views, walking distance to several pubs and restaurants, really close to gorgeous countryside, or rugged moors for walking, pretty market towns to explore like Bakewell, Buxton and Matlock. House is about right for 10 people and a few kids - good sized lounge with log burner and high beamed ceiling, large dining area with views over the valley, attractive and well equipped kitchen, 5 good sized bedrooms with comfy beds and 3 bathrooms. The pool table and table football were great, as would have been the hot tub in the courtyard, but it was unseasonably cold so we weren't able to use it. Nice extras like two fridges, lots of family games, a supply of logs and kindling, plastic cups and plates for outdoor eating etc. The temperature dropped suddenly when we arrived so we weren't warm enough in the lounge (as its such a big room) on the first day or two but the owner was fantastic about sorting this out and giving us some fab electric heaters until the central heating had caught up, it was really cosy after that. The house was really clean and tidy but there were some maintenance issues with things that needed painting, fixing or replacing but they weren't major and perhaps it was a sign of it being the end of the summer season. Would be great to stay here in the depths of winter providing you had plenty of supplies in, as well as in summer when the outdoor spaces and hot tub would be fantastic fun.

Owner's reply: Just a quick update on this review; The house has been completely re painted since this review, a job that we do annually as well as constantly touching up during the year.
