The Saint James Parish region
St. James is located in the west coast of Barbados. There are many fine dining restaurants, as well as some good value local eateries and duty free shops. The coast is known as the Platinum coast and boasts fine white sand and gentle sloping beaches into the warm Caribbean Sea.
The main town in St. James is Holetown, the third largest town on the island historically of great importance and the first settlement area in Barbados in 1627.The original St. James Parish Church, was built in 1628 and rebuilt in 1789 after the original was destroyed by a hurricane.
Just north of Holetown is Folkestone Marine Park, which is excellent for snorkeling, diving or a trip in a glass bottom boat or a trip diving with turtles
There is lots of duty free shopping available as the town has three shopping malls - Sunset Crest, Chattel House Village and the West Coast Mall selling designer clothes, tourist souvenirs and luxury items. Shopsmart is a supermarket/superstore only 5 minutes walk from the property and there are several food outlets in Holetown
There are some excellent world famous restaurants in Barbados, many of them in St james as well as lots of coffee shops and relaxed bars most of them beachfront. There is a variety of nightlife centred around local hotels and bars. Many bars and hotels have pools that are open to patrons as well as residents,
Polo field is found at Holders House, which is also located in St. James. In addition Holders House hosts an annual event called the Holders Season, where they transform the grounds in to a wonderful stage for theater, music and the arts. This runs for a month from February to March each year. There is a tennis court at end of street and the Holetown Festival is held every Feb/March. beside the tennis court there is a cricket field and basketball court and you may catch a game of local cricket or football. Marshalls bar is an ideal place for a cool drink, chat to locals and enjoy some excellent local dishes at very reasonable prices.

"a little piece of paradise"
spent a month in this fabulous villa.. its ideal to use as a base to see the rest of the island... everything you need is at hand and is very comfortable... the perfect beaches are only a short walk away and there are some heavenly hotels and restaurants if you need a little bit of luxury.. the island is very beautiful and so are the people.. the neighbours are extremely hospitable. The house is very clean and the gardens are to die for!! some of my favourite moments were spent chilling in the hammock in the side garden. its perfect for families and for a romsntic getaway i highly reccomend this property!!
Thank you for taking the time to write such a nice review. I love it when guests love our little cottage as much as we do.

"The cottage provides a taste of rustic Barbados lifestyle, a home from home – we would definitely visit again."
A charming, comfortable cottage, perfectly located for exploring the island. Car hire is a must although we did get a bus into Bridgetown one evening and the bus stop was only two minutes walk. The cottage has a lovely well maintained garden, which provided a secluded spot for relaxing in the hammock in the shade of mature fruit trees. A friendly caretaker was very knowledgeable about the local area, giving tips on where to visit and eat. The local bar was excellent for lunches and evening meals at a reasonable price. The beach is 5 minutes drive down to Paynes Bay where sun loungers can be hired and a good selection of hotel bars and restaurants are available. Also a perfect location for swimming with turtles and snorkelling!
Thank you for your lovely review.I hope it was a wonderful honeymoon and hope to see you again very soon
