The Turkish Aegean Coast region
The village of Hisaronu is approximately 45 minutes drive from Dalaman Airport. The nearest major centre is a town called Fethiye about a fifteen minute Dolmus ride away. Fethiye, on the turquoise coast, has grown from a modest trading port/fishing village to nowadays a vibrant cosmopolitan destination crammed with designer boutiques and trendy restaurants where you can dine on sumptuous seafood, graze on the finest meze or indulge in traditional Turkish favourites such as lamb tandir or stuffed aubergines.
The nearest beach can be found at Olu Deniz just 5 minutes down the mountain. Olu Deniz was voted 'Europe's Leading Beach Location' at the 2011 World Travel Awards for it's world famous and much photographed Blue Lagoon. Olu Deniz is a thriving resort and has been designated an area of outstanding beauty.
This really is a great area for tourism; there's the Saklikent Gorge nearby, the stunning Patara beach and dozens of Lycian ruins adorning land and sea. Mount Babadag (The Father Mountain) standing at 6460 feet above sea level provides an imposing backdrop to the whole area. As you can imagine, the views are absolutely stunning.
On your way from Dalaman, passing through Fethiye, you start to travel up the mountain road towards Hisaronu. Not only do you take in the beautiful scenery but on a hot summers day you can notice a welcoming difference in temperature as you climb.
The first area you pass through is Ovacik which is mainly hotels and apartments and one or two shops and restaurants, then you come into Hisaronu itself. The resort is popular with British visitors and the shops, restaurants and bars cater extensively for the needs of all groups.
Hisaronu is a recently established resort and although it has grown in the past few years it still retains that traditional Turkish feel. The village comes alive at night when it is at its busiest, there are dozens of places to eat and drink where prices are very favourable compared to some of the other resorts along the coast.

"Had a fantastic time...."
Really enjoyed my stay here in September 2013 my 3rd time in this apartment. Fantastic location close to shops restaurants and Bars (but not too close that you can hear the music). Beautiful pool even get your own sunbeds and umbrellas/parasols that are exclusive to the villa. I will be staying here again next year.
Thanks for an excellent review. Says it all especially about how conveniently located the apartment is for everything. We look forward to welcoming you back again soon. Cheers, Steve & Diane
