Description

Enjoy the ideal location on the beautiful Hamakua Coast, the green side of the Big Island of Hawaii, on our own piece of Paradise. We have views of the Ocean & Mauna Kea mountain, but the best views are from your own balcony above the rushing waters of the Makea Stream. We call it a river, as it is 30-50 feet wide, in the wading and swimming holes, below the waterfalls (of course). You could spend your whole vacation here, swimming, hiking, and resting or adventuring.

On six acres of farm land, we have a little working/petting farm; with 2 horses, Thunder and Electra, the miniature horse. 8 goats, and a variety of chickens.

We also have two dogs, old Molly, who will bark at you, then remember you must be old friends; and young Buddy, a Belgian Shepard who will sniff and love you too much.

And, of course, our two granddaughters who spend occasional weekends with grandma and grandpa; they should be listed with farm animals, I recon.

Feel free to collect fruit, in season from our orchard of lychee, mango, avocado, star fruit, bananas and many others including the best melt in your mouth white pineapple ever to be imagined! We have so many, there is are usually a few ripe at all times.

Your guest private, separate guest suite, has 3 rooms; a bedroom, bathroom, and a living room/kitchenette. It is off the large lanai where trade winds coming in off the ocean provide a comfortable breeze; where the BBQ, with burner, and large dining table with 6 rocking chairs are.

The bedroom has a brass queen size bed, ample storage and closet. Your bathroom has shower (with stained glass doors) and washer and dryer. The main room has a futon, satellite TV, and a kitchenette, with all new refrigerator, coffee pot, microwave and convection toaster/oven. I have dishes, coffee, tea, paper towels, rice (and a small rice cooker) some spices and other things to get you started.

We are located 11 miles north of Hilo, at the end of the "Scenic Route" where the botanical gardens, and breathtaking Onemea Bay are; and north of Honoli'i beach and surf spot, where Puff the Magic Dragon hangs out. Around us are acres of corn and purple potato fields. With nice side roads for peaceful and scenic walks, you can check out the cliffs and bays of the ocean, right in front of us; as ocean front is public land. Our own road is the back road to the scenic and quaint town of Honomu, with artsty gift stores, ice cream and bakery shops. You will want to drive around to go thru Honomu, and up to Akaka Falls, a brisk hike up and down stairs to a stunning 1000' waterfall. Don't forget the Pit Stop Fruit Stand, just to watch petite Milyn wield a machete on a defenseless coconut, drink the juice from straws, and then watch her chop up the meat to take with. I could go on up the coast, and tell you to check out Kolekole, Haukalau, and all the of the "beach" parks. I say "beach" because they are rocky and rugged and birthed from old sugar mill plantation transportation docks. Which makes them an exploration. But, we will save it for our visit, and show you all the options on our topo map.

Oh I just realize trip advisor probably doesn’t update my calendar from the other side with the four big letters that I am not allowed to say. I will get back with you when I can look at the dates I wanna mop this floor and let it dry and then I’ll do it
