Clintagh Cottages (Pike, Perch and Eel cottage) are family run self-catering cottages located near the historic, Georgian village of Hillsborough, County Down, in a quiet rural landscape of drumlins, lakes and islands. An ideal location for relaxing from the stresses of modern life.

The cottages have been meticulously renovated from old 19th barns, and feature exposed beams and log-burning stoves. The cottages have an old world charm, but inside you will find every modern appliance - flat screen TV, DVD player, microwave, dishwasher, tumble dryer etc.

Visitors can relax and enjoy the natural beauty and tranquility of the area by using the private facilities at Lough Aghery (150 metres) for fishing or bird watching. Those who want something more energetic can go water-skiing, horse riding or cycling to local attractions such as the birth place of Harry Ferguson (Massey ferguson Tractors). The Mourne mountains and the county Down coast are within easy reach, and at just 8 miles from the city of Lisburn and 17 miles from Belfast, the cottages are ideally situated for those who want to indulge in shopping and visit Northern Ireland's capital city to see such attractions as the Titanic Centre.

Pike cottage has 3 double bedrooms, one with ensuite. One of the bedrooms is on the ground floor. There is a another bathroom with a roll top bath and a further bathroom/wet room.

Pike cottage is available to rent on a weekly basis.but shorter or longer rentals can also be arranged

A great place to stay to explore the beautiful County Down countryside. We were made to feel at home by our hosts, John and Roberta. Lovely to receive a welcome pack of goodies waiting for us. Excellent accommodation. Spacious and comfortable, warm and homely. The cottage had all the facilities we could have wanted, complete with Christmas tree and decorations for our stay. John and Roberta were available to give lots of tips on interesting places to visit and made our stay hassle-free. A first class experience we will be keen to repeat.

“Amazing property and hosts”

We stayed at Pike cottage at the end of August 15. On arrival we were greeted by a lovely log fire, and although it wasn't cold this was a very nice touch. John and Roberta were there to welcome us with a basket of local breads, jams, butter and chocolates. Nothing was too difficult for our hosts and they even put another television in the down stairs bedroom for my disabled mother in law. The main purpose of our stay was to visit family and friends in the local area and the cottage was ideally situated for our requirements. John has a wealth of knowledge of the area and Northern Ireland, and is very keen for guests to enjoy their stay, so please ask his advice and let him know your wishes. We were very fortunate with the weather, the forecasters were wrong yet again, but there are lots of places to visit regardless of the weather, please again take Johns guidance. One morning John took us out on the Lough in his speed boat, even allowing my wife and father in law to have a drive. If time had allowed we would have been able to try water skiing and there is a canoe available that can be used to explore the reed beds in the Lough, just 2 mins walk away. Access to the property is along a narrow lane and you can meet vehicles coming in the opposite direction, including the bin men, so please drive with care. There aren't shops/pubs within walking distance so it's worth taking essentials for your first morning with you. There are stores within a short drive, and some very nice pubs/restaraunts, The Pheasant at Annahilt has a good menu with generous portions. If a large shop is required there are numerous stores in the Lisburn area including Sainsbury's and M&S. Again John can inform you fully of local amenities. It is nice to be able to say hello to Mr Felix the goat in the morning and there is other wild life running around the area. John has a Jack Russell called Reggie who is very friendly when he gets to know you, hopefully we will be able to take him for a walk on our next visit. Thanks both for making us all so welcome.

“Lovely, comfortable cottage set in beautiful countryside”

Stayed in Pike Cottage for one week with my parents and sister and brother in law. The ground floor bedroom and en suite with walk in shower were perfect for my 83 year old not so mobile parents. All the bedrooms are spacious with plenty of storage, televisions and comfortable beds. The kitchen area has everything you need for cooking everyday meals including the all- important dishwasher. The sitting area has comfortable sofas and chairs and the log burner and lamps give it a cosy feel. The location is good for Belfast (Titanic Experience ~45mins) the Strangford Lough area and the Mountains of Morne. The drive to Giant's Causeway takes about an hour and a half on the inland route, don't miss the coastal route though. Other places we enjoyed visiting are Mount Stewart, The Argory and the Linen Centre in Lisburn. We did most of our food shopping in Ballynahinch in the Nisa supermarket at Carlisle's petrol station. There is a good deli counter, and a separate wine store. John and Roberta are great hosts, the log burner was lit when we arrived, very welcome on a chilly drizzley afternoon and there was a pretty basket of local breads and home made jam and chocolate waiting for us. John gave us lots of good tips for our days out and some local places to visit such as the Harry Ferguson Memorial Garden which we might otherwise have missed. We really enjoyed our stay and would love to go back.

We were greeted with a very warm welcome from John and Roberta, including a lovely welcome basket full of goodies and the most fabulous home made jam. We had a wonderful 7 night stay at Pike Cottage, which is a real home from home, very clean and comfortable and fully equipped with everything you could wish for. Our 8 year old Daughter enjoyed herself very much too and particularly liked the local walks around the lake and feeding the pet goat - Mr Felix (nicknamed by her as Kevin). We will definitely be back!

If you fancy a stay in a quaint cottage in beautiful rolling Irish countryside with a warm welcome and friendly help throughout your stay - this is the place. Three lovely big bedrooms all with their own facilities, a wood burning stove (lit every night by the owners for our return) made this a very easy and comfortable place to stay.

How do damage deposits work?
