Description

Situated in the village of Highley, Shropshire. This adorable log cabin is 5 minutes walk from the River Severn. With this in mind, it makes an ideal place for keen fishermen, especially those fishing for Barbel. There are many private pegs and BAA pegs available close by.

The cabin is also appealing to train spotters/ rail enthusiasts. Highley train station is very close by, as is the local train museum. Some of the rarest steam trains can be seen passing through Highley. Indeed the trains attract tourists from all over, a great place to bring the children to experience ways of travel in time gone by.
Highley train station connects the two neighbouring villages of Brigenorth and Bewdley. Both lovely places to visit not only for shopaholics, but for the history they hold, Bewdley also been very well know for its tourist attraction of the Safari Park/Theme Park.

Where the cabin is placed it is not over looked by any neighbouring residents. It is very quiet and secluded

Where the cabin is placed it is not over looked by any neighbouring residents. It is very quiet and secluded and so makes a perfect place to go and simply do nothing.......... other than eat and drink ;) The local village shops are a 5 minute drive if provisions are needed. Or let some one else cooking as the local Indian and Chinese deliver most evenings.
There is a leisure centre in Highley, with an heated outdoor swimming pool during the summer months.

The Wyre Forest is only a few miles away, so for those of you who enjoy country walks and bike riding. There are many friendly country pubs to eat and drink along the way,the cabin is great for a few nights away.

We have noticed an increase of wild life of late, particularly birds, animal enthusiasts would really enjoy the surroundings.

The Cabin has two bedrooms, two bathrooms, kitchen and open planned lounge. There is a separate shed for fishermen to store their tackle and separate fridge for bait.

There is a T.V and DVD player, so feel free to bring a film and have a quiet night in. The TV has free sky satellite service, so if you have a sky card, bring it along and you should be able to watch your own chosen channels.

this was a fantastic short break, so tranquil and stress free. scenery to die for, pub local but not too close to spoil peace and quiet. i would happily visit this place 4 times a year if i could afford it.

Hi. So glad you enjoyed it. Hope to see you soon. Regards Adrian

“Excellent Accommodation with fantastic views overlooking the adjacent Severn Valley Railway in beautiful rural surrounds”

Reviewed 3 Apr 2014

As an angler I rented this cabin to use as a base for fishing the River Severn during a week's holiday from work. It was very clean, comfortable and homely with excellent modern bathroom and kitchen facilities in particular. Having stayed in early March, I was particularly looking for accommodation that was well heated and this cabin most certainly was, as I have found this not always to be the case in other dwellings I have stayed in previously. Included in the package were the added bonuses of a large plasma screen T.V and DVD player, so I found it to be very family friendly. Comfortable bedrooms make for a good night sleep and the excellent location provides fantastic views overlooking the beautiful Severn Valley and it's Steam Railway (Especially from the outside Veranda), which would be of particular interest to Steam Rail enthusiasts, looking for outstanding views of the trains as they go by. With regard to the garden and patio area at the rear of the property, there was an excellent and secure lockup facility more than adequate for storing all of my fishing rods and equipment. Overall, this was an ideal place to stay, which pretty much catered for all of my needs and I would most certainly be happy to return my custom and recommend to others. Although, if I was to point out any minor room for improvement, then maybe the Bait Fridge/Freezer could have done with a larger freezer section to allow for the freezing of larger quantities of frozen baits such as hemp seed and boilies etc, especially ideal in the warmer months when anglers tend to use more.

“Wonderful 1st Wedding Anniversary Weekend!”

Reviewed 20 Mar 2014

Myself and my husband stayed at this cabin for our 1st Wedding Anniversary. It was a lovely weekend break. We could of stayed longer. The facilities were great. There is a pub on site where the food was lovely. The cabin was very clean, tidy and comfortable.I wouldn't hesitate in staying there again.

“Cozy hideaway”

What a lovely little place, tucked away in an upper field above Highley Station. Surrounded by fields and beautiful views, so quiet and comfortable. The owner really went out of his way to make us comfortable, had the place nicely warmed up for us and welcoming, even offered an extra night or two at no cost due to the stormy weather. The cabin was well equipped with everything we could need and a welcome place to return to. Remember to bring towels though!

“excellent location and beautiful cabin”

Reviewed 28 Dec 2013

we wanted to get away some where quiet for christmas, and we found just that here. The cabin itself was beautiful, clean and modern, it was also spacious, just enough room for my husband, daughter, myself and the dog. The location was fabulous, only 10min walk to the local pub and river, and a 5min drive into highley village. We will definitely be booking it again.xx

Hi glad you a nice stay, your feedback is important to us and others. So happy to here you would come back. Many thanks for your comments Severn valley view

“Peace and quiet, clean and comfortable”

Reviewed 27 Nov 2013

It was just as the web site described. The cooker, fridge, showers, TV, all were in good working order, and the hot water was good and hot. The beds and lounge furniture were all comfortable. All in all we couldn't have wished for anything better. The location is superb with plenty of parking space. Unfortunately the weather was awful, but not much Adrian could do about that. The only minor problem was outside and that was the bait fridge that froze everything

Hi Colin, thanks for your review we are glad you had a good stay and it was clean and tidy for your stay, as per the bait fridge we have resolved the issue it would seem that the last people had turned the temperature right down on the switch. As for the weather I would hope if you came again it would be better for you. Regards Adrian

“Peaceful, Tranquil very relaxing”

Reviewed 17 Jul 2013

My wife and I stayed at Adrian Jones log cabin on 29th June - 6th July, we wanted somewhere where we could just relax and chill out, this was the ideal place. Adrian was there to meet us upon arrival which was very nice. The first weekend there was a 1940s re-enactment taking place which we thoroughly enjoyed. We went on the steam train to Kidderminster. There are nature walks, fishing etc., Would we go back to Adrians log cabin? ......... Yes most definately.

Hi i would to thank you for your honest comments, we are glad you enjoyed your stay and hope we see you again in the future. king regards Adrian

“A lovely stay”

Reviewed 19 May 2013

We stayed at the cabin for 4 nights ,we enjoyed it very much , it was very quiet we loved watching the peacocks that were roaming around. The Severn valley steam trains at highley station which is only down the hill was interesting and you can visit different places on it .the ship inn just by station serves lovely meals we reccommend the town of bewdley which is only half hours drive away had an ice cream by the river. We would love to visit again with grandchildren as it caterers for them as there are gamestations in bedroom.

Hi, thanks for doing a review on the cabin, Glad you enjoyed your stay. we hope to see you again soon. kind regards Adrian jones

“An excellent base for enjoying the delights of the Severn Valley”

Reviewed 21 Jan 2013

A lovely holiday cabin set in idylic surroundings overlooking the Severn Valley. With a short drive to the river this is the ideal setting if you're an angler looking to do battle with the hard fighting Barbel of the river Severn. Close at hand is the village of Highley for all your essential supplies and not far away are fishing tackle shops containing all your bait needs and useful advice from the owners on what's catching. You can purchase a cheap BAA yearbook IN ADVANCE of arriving which gives you mile upon mile of the Severn and Teme to fish or alternatively inexpensive days tickets are available on Bert's or the Ship Inn lengths of the Severn (ask about discounted weekly tickets) However you don't have to be an angler to appreciate the area - for the wildlife lovers there's foxes to be seen, buzzards soaring on high, kingfishers patroling the river and green woodpeckers in abundance. For those who like the idea of combining a drink with their stay there's the Ship Inn just down the road and they do a selection of meals both at lunchtime and evenings that can take the worry of cooking out of your stay although the cabin has brilliant facilities on this front. For steam train lovers or those who marvel at feats of engineering there's the daily run of the Severn Valley Steam train to enjoy with trips into the adjacent towns should you wish to do so. For a stress free thoroughly enjoyable stay I would highly reccomend a stay at this holiday let and Mr Jones is a good host who will welcome you to the premises and then leave you to your own devices - only asking that you leave the place as you found it.

Hi Mr Wood, thanks for your review just like to say how happy i am with this. many thanks. Adrian jones
