The Dorset region
This area is renowned for being a warmer part of the UK. There are several good sandy beaches in the area with seafront cafes and restaurants and equipment hire. Steamer Point located just 10 mins walking from the caravan site is a cliff top nature reserve which leads to Highclliffe Castle and a bigger beach and clifftop which is great for walkers. Mudeford Quay is located a 5 minute drive away with beach huts and an area where children can go crabbing, fishing boats also come into this area and local fresh fish can be bought on the quayside. From here you can get a ferry boat to Mudeford Spit and Hengisbury Head Visitors Centre and to Christchurch quay. Mackerel fishing trips can also be arranged. Highcliffe boasts lots of small shops and coffee shops. Highcliffe Castle is a 5 minute drive away which hosts lots of outside concerts in the summer on the lawns. Christchurch itself is a historic town with quaint cobbled streets, small individual gift shops, coffee shops and a visit to the priory is a must. Walks along the quayside watching all the boats go by is a great way of relaxing. The Quomps children's water park on Christchurch Quay is great for younger children and is open in the summer months and is free to enter.
The New Forest is only a 15 minute drive away great for secluded walks, picnics and you can see the wild ponies. Also New Forest Water Sports Centre for wake boarding, water skiing.
