Description

A Grade II seventeenth century thatch cottage that can be found in the center of the friendly village of High Bickington in the heart of North Devon. Rambler Cottage is surrounded by open countryside, deep river valleys and ancient woodland with the rugged North Devon Coast, Exmoor and Dartmoor just a stone's throw away.

The cottage through its traditional architecture, still showing many of the original features, offers a cosy retreat in a home that spreads though what was formerly two properties.

The living room: now has a wood-burner stove in the original inglenook fireplace, the two ends are partially divided by a beam and a step, offering enough space for everyone to socialise in the main end. or allow seperate corners to develop for different activities. The tv is 'hidden' in the 'snug end in the other Inglenook fireplace!

The family room: is a space that we use to encourage creativity, it is perfect for arts, crafts and games. The room has an extendable table that can either be used in situ or moved into the dining area to create a banquet style table. This room can also be used as an alternative dining room. The Family Room has been beautifully laid with natural stone.

Kitchen/dining Room: this spacious farmhouse style kitchen is great for entertaining and eating together. It has an eight burner hob range cooker in a large 'u' shape kitchen that is fully equipped to create a Christmas Dinner (personally tested in 2014). It has a full height fridge freezer and an under counter fridge. In an 'L' shape formation to the kitchen area the dining room is in what was the original cow barn. It has an oak table that is set up to seat 8 people and can comfortably seat 10 and for more banquet style dining the other table from the 'family room' can be carried in. The room features a now disused inglenook with the original bread oven and amble space for personal food and drink storage.

The Utilty Area: the utility area has a washing machine, tumble dryer, under counter freezer. a sink and access to the garden and rear parking space.
