Ranters' Chapel is a converted 1830s chapel in the centre of Hexham with a sleek, modern interior and a private enclosed garden.

Just 100m from historic Hexham Abbey, it is the perfect base for enjoying all the pleasures that England's 'nicest market town' has to offer as well as the beautiful countryside and coast of Northumberland. Shops are restaurants are close by, but the garden lends a peaceful feeling to the house and it is easy to forget just how central you are!

We normally leave the house all ready and the keys in a safe so that you can arrive at your leisure. However we are very happy to be there to meet you and hand over the keys if you prefer this and we are always delighted to recommend places to visit, dog and child friendly walks etc, just let us know what you need to know.

This is an absolutely lovely well appointed and comfortable holiday cottage in an excellent location. There were six of us here for a long weekend and we would all love to go back. It has lots of character but is also well fitted out and quite modern inside. It’s close to the town centre but parking isn’t a problem. There is also a swimming pool two minutes walk away for anyone who enjoys a morning dip.

The house is fantastic - nicely decorated, clean, well equipped and very comfortable. The location is ideal for a visit to the area. After a day out exploring, you have restaurants, pubs and grocery stores all in easy proximity. Easy walk to the train station and the Hadrian's Wall bus stop as well. Jo left goodies for us on arrival, which made us feel very welcome and got our stay off to a great start. Jo was super responsive and booking and communicating were straight-forward. We would definitely go back again.

“Superb location and house”

The house is amazing, super clean and modern with lovely character and charm. The garden is beautiful and a real sun trap. The welcome treats were so thoughtful and after a long drive, greatly appreciated. We could find no fault with this house, it has everything you'll need - even basic provisions in the cupboards to help with cooking - all the utensils etc you'll need to cook. Jo was also really helpful and quick to reply/respond. The area is wonderful also, with all the amenities within walking distance (shops, pubs, restaurants, park and lovely walks - which our dog loved!). We'd definitely go back and 100% recommend - well worth a visit! Matt, Mel, Sophie and Milly xx

“Fabulous central location”

The location is right in the heart of the town down a hill but everything is accessible. Plenty of parking out the back of the property. There is a lovely secluded garden to the rear and it is very quiet. Plenty of seating and a BBQ The house itself is immaculate. Plenty of space, the rooms are well proportioned. Lots of storage and everything you can require in the kitchen if you prefer to stay in and cook. 3 bathrooms means no fighting when you have 2 girls wanting to get ready at the same time. Towels are lovely and soft and the beds extremely comfy. Jo is a perfect host. A bottle of fizz is a lovely surprise and the lemon drizzle cake (homemade) is delicious. Our stay was a bit unusual in the sense that we had to vacate our home nearby due to a problem and lucky for us Ranters Cottage for free. We stayed for a few weeks and it was home from home for us. Jo was so accommodating and we had everything we needed. We will definitely be recommending this 'home' to family and friends

Good accommodation, comfy beds, well-equipped kitchen, decent wifi. Great location in Hexham - the back gate at bottom of the lovely garden opens onto a large car-park - just a quick stroll away from Waitrose. Hexham itself is a really good base for visiting the sites of Hadrian's Wall: Housesteads, Vindolanda, Corbridge and also good walking to be found nearby. Milk in the fridge when we arrived - always very welcome - and cake! (Possibly the best Victoria sponge I've ever had!) Thank you!

“Centrally located house.”

Very comfortable, fully equipped, spotless - with immediate access to the town and easy parking once you have mastered the colour-coded bay locations! Only £1 for the magic disc. We loved staying here. Hexham has everything within walking distance - we just need more time to explore the surrounding area!

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

If Jo (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
