A sensitively converted barn, located in the Pas-de-Calais region on the edge of the beautiful Forest of Hesdin in the Seven Valleys area of Northern France, approx. 1 hours drive from Calais, Boulogne and the Channel Tunnel, with parking for 2 cars.
Ideal for small groups of adults or families with small children, all linen and towels provided. Cot with bedding, high chair and stair gates. Enclosed garden for children to play. Paved patio off the kitchen, ideal for paddling pool in the summer. Close to sandy beaches and a new swimming pool in the local town of Hesdin.
The house stands in a shared courtyard with its own private enclosed garden. It has an patio leading off the kitchen, with table and chairs for outdoors dining. there is a barbecue also available.
It is bright and airy with many original features including beams and the original stable door. It is typical French rustic with some modern touches. It comprises seven rooms; four on the ground level and three on the first floor. There are 2 shower rooms, with walk in showers, washbasins and toilets.
The small ground floor bedroom with single bed makes it ideal for families with a teenager or with a member of the family who may find it difficult to climb stairs, this bedroom has an ensuite shower and toilet. A large sitting room with woodburner. Dining room with a old god in woodburner and can seats eight people.
The kitchen is free standing, with a large dresser, electric cooker, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine, plus other electrical equipment.
Upstairs are 2 further rooms and a bathroom.
The first is a large bright open plan mezzanine room ideal for teenagers/ older children or friends who do not mind sharing, it has 2 single beds and a cabin bed. The second is a large bright adult bedroom with a king size bed.
The house has 2 wood burners, one in the sitting room and one in the dining room. This makes it a cosy house to stay in out of season and all beds are furnished with electric blankets.
The house is child friendly offering stair gates at both top and bottom of the stairs and equipment for baby or infant accomodation during their stay, such as a cot with linen and a high chair. It also has feeding and bottle warming equipment, a list is available on request.
It has a covered terrace leading from the dining room, giving shade in very sunny weather. ( ideal shading for a paddling pool for small children).
Cavron St Martin is in an area called the Seven Valleys. It's a quiet farming village in Northern France about 1 hours drive from Calais, Boulogne and the Channel Tunnel. The gite is approximately 30 minutes from the beach at Le Touquet, Berck and other resorts along the coast.
It edges onto the beautiful Forest of Hesdin, which is a haven for wild life such as deer. The village itself has a restaurant (the Planquette) and a fish farm, where you can buy fresh trout. The beauty of staying in this village is that it has many easy circular walks. It is also approximately 15 minutes from the historic town of Hesdin, where there is a traditional market on Thursday mornings, selling fresh fruit and vegetables, along side farm cheeses and other local products. There is a bee farm not far from the house which produces its own honey and Royal Jelly.
In Auchy-Les-Hesdin on Sunday mornings there is a small local produce market, which includes a local cheese stall.
Le Touquet the beach resort is well known for its sandy beach and boutique shops, but it also has many fish restaurants.
Fort Mahon Plage has a wide and varied selection of Moules and Sea Food restaurants.
It is within easy access to Belgium and the wonderful sandy beach of De Panne and a theme park called Plopsaland.
Dennlys Parc which is suitable for children up to the age of about 12yrs is approximatley 45mins away.
Ypres and the moving ceremony each evening at the Menin Gates is well worth a visit, and within easy driving distance.
The site of the battle of Agincourt is about 15 minutes drive from the house.

The Nord-Pas-de-Calais region
The region is steeped in history, with Agincourt approximately 15 minutes drive to the North, Crecy 30 minutes to the South, and the Battlefields of the Somme an hour's drive away.The cottage is 20 minutes from Montreuil Sur Mer, the setting for Victor Hugo's Les Miserables, which features a live Son et Lumiere version every summer featuring galloping horses, canon fire etc within the walls of the old Chateau.
Paris and it's museums and galleries is within easy reach. The A16 is very access able from the house.
Not to mention a trip to Euro Disney, with the children is very do-able in a day or for an overnight stay.
Another great place to visit is the new regional extension to the Louvre Paris, Which is in Lens, which has many great and interesting exhibitions.
The area is quite but also within easy reach of the amazing sandy beaches and local attractions.
The Forest of Hesdin is traffic free, with plenty of planned picnic areas, which can be found on many of the ways to enter the forest.
It is a haven for fauna and wild life including to pheasant, deer, and scurrying Sanglier (wild Boar) the more intrepid who choose to enter the Forest from the village of La Loge may discover the remains of a V1 rocket site largely destroyed by the RAF in 1945, but the remains are still there to be explored among the craters left after the war.
A wide selection of supermarkets in the local town of Hesdin, plus the regular Thursday morning market full of local produce.
A fish markets in Etaples and Le Touquet and a Sunday morning food produce market is Auchy-Les-Hesdin.
