Location description from owner

The Herceg-Novi Municipality region

The region has become increasingly popular over recent years. Montenegro is separated from Italy by the narrow Adriatic Sea and the coastal region benefits from a Mediterranean climate, with an average summer temperature of 27°C and about 240 days of sunshine each year. There are dozens of places to visit and really something for everyone, with the coastal towns and villages being a focus for local life in the quieter months.

Herceg-Novi

Herceg Novi is located at the entrance to the Bay of Kotor. Founded in 1382, its defensive role is witnessed by numerous fortresses and towers, where today, on open-air stages, film, music and flower festivals are held. It also has several beautiful squares with old churches, galleries and museums as well as many fine restaurants and open-air cafés. A characteristic feature of the city is its parks and gardens with numerous plant species like palms, cikasi, magnolia, agave, banana and other Mediterranean and sub-tropical plants.Excursions available in the area include:

“Peaceful, beautiful scenery”

Reviewed 26 Sep 2016

We were sent very clear instructions that guided us from the airport to a meeting point from whence we were guided up to our villa and then shown how everything worked. It was very well equipped and Rajko, who was looking after us, was really friendly and helpful. We loved sitting out on the terrace listening to the cow bells, going for a swim, sunbathing on the top terrace, drinking in the views. We also explored the whole of the stunning Bay or Kotor and ventured higher up into the mountains. It's a beautiful country and refreshingly commercialized. The villa was an excellent base for exploring it and we really enjoyed our stay.

Thank you for the review. So glad you enjoyed your stay and got the chance to see some lovely parts of Montenegro. I am also very happy to know that Villa Killara lived up to your expectations for a peace and tranquility. You will always be welcome.

“Perfect”

Reviewed 25 May 2015

A car is necessary to enjoy this rural and peaceful location. Killara has everything you need for a great holiday. The villa is clean and comfortable and the pool is a bonus. The owners are friendly and very welcoming and very knowledgeable about the country. I would not hesitate to recommend Killara to my family and friends. Both my husband and myself are looking forward to going back to explore more of this beautiful and stunning country.

Thank you for choosing Villa Killara for your holiday. We are glad you enjoyed the villa and the peace and tranquility it offers. Looking forward to seeing you in 2016.

“Tranquil hideaway”

Reviewed 13 Oct 2012

We had a lovely stay at Villa Killara. We are a couple in our mid 30s and we found the villa spacious and well equipped for our needs. The sun terrace was amazing - beautiful views all around - and it was also good to have a covered terrace downstairs that was a bit cooler. We stayed there at the end of September and we had fantastic weather every day (28-32 temperature). The grape vines and fig tree were a great bonus, as was the little pool, which was big enough to enjoy a cool down (and if you had children would be great for them to play in). The villa is positioned up in the hills, in a private location, but it is easy to drive down to the town or explore the rest of Montenegro. We had planned a relaxing holiday doing very little but we ended up doing quite a bit (walking, white water rafting, swimming, sightseeing etc.). Our hosts, Jan and Nik, were very hospitable and friendly.

It was a pleasure to meet you, thank you for coming!

“Stunning location, great accommodation”

Reviewed 2 Oct 2012

Villa Killara is the perfect place to stay with friends, family or a partner. The property has anything you would want for a comfortable stay, including a great outdoor eating area and BBQ. The view from the terrace is unbelievable as is the view down to the bay from the road leading up to the property. We couldn't have asked to rent from better owners. Very accommodating and friendly. We felt very well looked after. The local area is very cheap for food and drink and there is plenty to do. The whole bay area is stunning and definitely worth a trip! I haven't stopped raving about this holiday since I came back. I'm probably annoying people now...

For a "bunch of graduates" you were most perfect guests. Looking forward to seeing you again.

“Montenegro- the place to be”

Reviewed 23 Aug 2012

Great, clean equipped spacious villa ideal with two teenagers who had their own self-contained studio. Never did any cooking though apart from breakfast as the food was soooo cheap to eat out and fabulous to sit eating a lovely meal listening to the waves lapping the shore surrounded by stunning scenery. Jan the proprietor has another property close to Meljine-which is lovely and within walking distance of the beach though you wouldn't have the beautiful views/sunsets from the sun terrace or the lovely sheltered terrace out of the sun in a morning that you have at Villa Killara. Although the pool was a little smaller than we expected we had great fun playing Volleyball and it was nice to cool down in. There is a lovely seating area and BBQ though we never got a chance to use it You can park up in Igalo 50-70cents an hour and walk all the way along the front which is lovely. Or hire a couple of sun lounges-from as little as ten euro often with waiter service and cool down/ swim in the lovely clear blue waters. Jan arranged a night in the mountains where we went white water rafting, river a little tame unlike the drive up there, (Montenegrins enjoy overtaking on blind bends) but the scenery was amazing. Stayed in a quaint villa and though the lady could speak no English she was truly lovely though I think she would have supplied us with food and drink forever. The bay is beautiful and the walk up the ramparts at Kotor a must. Tivat marina worth a visit to see the amazing boats. Had a nice trip down to Budva, the old town very quaint, little bit more expensive, very lively but preferred to be staying in the bay. A day trip on a boat to the blue cave and Cejine beach a great day out (9 euros each) but very hot so save for the second week or cream up well. The food in the restaurants was of a good standard and similar price (around 40-50 euro including drinks for family of 4). Kids loved the meat and chips and especially the ice cream at 50cents!! Not ideal if you’re a vegetarian though, you may have to live on salads, pizza and pasta. Seafood was lovely especially the black/red risotto. Oh and their draft beer great at around 1euro 80 cents All in all we had a truly wonderful family break and our kids who are14 & 17 had a great time too. Jan & Nick – thank you you were great hosts- nice to have that personal touch as you never know when booking direct. Montenegro is a little gem of a place and long may it remain that way.

We were very pleased to hear that we have contributed a little towards a memorable holiday. You came as guests, but left as friends.... Thank you for choosing Montenegro and Villa Killara for your holiday destination.

“For once, a truly relaxing family holiday!”

Reviewed 29 Feb 2012

We came to Killara with our two, ahem, lively boys, aged 7 and 4. It is the first family 'holiday' we have actually been able to relax in, as there was so much for the little ones to do. The boys spent hours in the pristinely kept swimming and paddling pools, or roaming around the large and lush garden. The friendly, generous owners came regularly to help maintain the property, play with the kids, and offer indispensible advice -- even popping by to give my husband a present on his birthday! The Villa was well equiped, spacious, and clean, but we spent our happiest hours outside on the terrace, or upstairs on the breathtaking sun terrace, enjoying the warm evenings and fabulous views. We enjoyed cooking with the abundance of (free) organic vegetables and fruits in the garden, and I took various swimming aids which allowed me to have a proper daily work out in the small, but deep and refreshing pool. The Villa is also an easy car-ride away from a multitude of different beaches, walks, and other activities. I would recommend Montenegro and Killara very highly.

Thank you for your generous comments, much appreciated. Nick and I are very pleased you have good memories of your holiday in Killara. Looking forward to seeing you again.

“Fantastic Relaxing Family Holiday”

Reviewed 31 Jan 2012

Our visit was a family holiday which included an 18 year old and a 5 year old and it suited them both equally! The Villa was outstanding, and we were greeted by the friendly owners who passed on valuable information on the surrounding areas and beyond, suggesting wonderful restaurants and beaches etc., Our youngest learnt to swim in the pool and many a day was spent just relaxing at the Villa. The Villa itself was very clean with everything you would need for your stay and more, including an abundance of grapes, tomatoes, peppers & figgs, all available to pick from a beautifully kept garden. A car is essential as there is so much to see, with such breath taking scenery! We just can't wait to be able to go again...!

Thank you, it was a pleasure meeting you. You were perfect guests and we look forward to seeing you again.
