- Very Good
We had a wonderful weekend in hay staying at the old new inn. We stayed 2 nights and used it as a base to do a stage of the offas dyke path from Pandy back to hay. A superb location and Gill was very helpful with instructions of how to find it and where to park. Lots of info contained in the folder in the house as well including how to find the cutlery draw. Would recommend anyone to stay here as it has everything you need including a pub within staggering distance. Excellent value for money.
Owner's reply: So pleased that you had a good weekend in Hay. What could be finer than walking and drinking Wye Valley beer at the Old Black Lion !
“Wonderful place to stay”
The house was immaculate and had everything you could need . Stayed here with my wife, son and his partner over the bank holiday weekend . Plenty of room to relax and the ideal place to stay and explore Hay on Wye . The beds were very comfortable and nice to have a garden to sit out and enjoy the sun . Lots of lovely places to go for food and drink . We ate at The three Tuns and Tomatitos Tapas house , food and service was very good in both . .Gill the owner was an absolute delight to communicate with . . Will Definately be returning here .
Owner's reply: Thank you for your generous comments . I am so pleased that your weekend in Hay was a success ! I look forward to hearing from you in the future.
“Felt like we were at home!”
The house was easy to find and the directions to access the property were very clear so we had no problem. No parking nr the house which is a downside but we found a free car park by the river, about an 8 minute walk. We were there for Christmas day and the kitchen was so well equipped we didn't want for anything. It was particularly good to have a living area next to the kitchen as well as on the first floor so that we could socialise whilst also preparing food. The only tiny negative for us was that we found the matresses too soft (the bedding was clean and sufficient for the cold nights) but that's a subjective opinion and it didn't stop us sleeping! The location is very central, so great for accessing the town. Haye is a lovely town with great pubs and cafes. Would highly recommend and definitely consider staying there again. The owner was also very helpful and responsive prior to our arrival. Please note there is no WiFi but we were made aware of that beforehand.
Owner's reply: Thank you for your positive comments; I'm glad that your Christmas celebrations in Hay-on-Wye went well.As you note, it's a lovely little town, especially at Christmas. If you ever return, ask us to remove the mattress toppers so that the beds are firmer for you. All the very best for a happy 2016 !
“Superb house, location and town.”
The house was a real home from home. Excellent location as a base to walk around Hay with a myriad of wonderful book shops, places to eat and a lovely quirky cinema . The house was clean and had everything you could wish for provided you want to escape the wifi. It is truly a place you will want to stay in for longer. The owner is an absolute delight to communicate with and really went out of her way to ensure our stay was enjoyable. Appreciated.... and I already want to return.
Owner's reply: Thank you for your lovely comments. I am really pleased that your holiday in Hay-on-Wye was a success !
“Amazing accomodation, fabulous location.”
The Old New Inn is a fabulous house in the centre of Hay on Wye. Very comfortable, clean and spacious. Had a wonderful time staying there and will definately be returning soon.

We, my husband, our 24 years old son and I went to hey-On-Wye for a wedding. We stayed in The Old New Inn from 15th to 18th August 2014. We had a very good time. The property is in an excellent location,is very clean, and very practical. We like it.

“A perfect retreat in the heart of Hay”
A lovely base from which to sample the delights of Hay - eating, shopping, walking and generally relaxing. This older property on three floors has been refurbished and equipped to a high standard. Its light and modern interior (in neutral and muted tones) is clean, spacious and super-comfortable - it was a delight to return at the end of each day, to sink into the sofa with a glass of wine and feel completely 'at home'. The combination of modern and antique furnishings was quirky and personable, retaining character but with a contemporary feel. The care and attention provided by the owners is evident, and their desire for guests to enjoy their stay is palpable. Although we didn't use it, the DVD and music collection was varied and up-to-date, with something to suit all tastes. We would hope to return in the not-too-distant future!
Owner's reply: Thank you for such a generous review.
“We had a lovely stay in this comfortable, well-equipped and lovely house”
The house is very central, and so handy for all the bookshops, cafes, pubs etc. The kitchen is particularly well equipped - and there are good local food shops (deli, fruit and veg, butcher). We certainly hope to stay here again, next time we come to Hay on Wye. The owner was very friendly and helpful - and left a lovely stock of food (including Welsh cakes!) for our arrival.
Owner's reply: Thank you so much for your kind review. I'm so pleased that you enjoyed your stay !
“Beautiful warm, cosy town house in a fantastic location for shopping and sightseeing!”
Just arrived home from a wonderful break of 3 nights with my husband, and elderly parents. The house is extremely comfortable, tastefully decorated and in a great location, near to shops, cafés, pubs and restaurants. Communication with the owner has been easy, we feel that we have been looked after very well! Hope to return again next year!
Owner's reply: Thank you for your lovely review.
“A wonderful base within Hay on Wye”
My daughter and I had a wonderful weekend break at The New Old Inn in Nov. We booked this property as it offered luxurious accommodation in the centre of Hay. The house is comfortable, decorated to a high standard and is very well equipped for self catering. The location of the house meant that we could pop back from the shops in a matter of minutes to drop off our latest finds and have a well deserved cuppa. The only downside of the house is the lack of parking, however the main car park in Hay is only a few minutes away from the property, and though you have to re-ticket your car every morning at 8, the view from the car park is well worth getting up for. You have to pay for parking, but we felt £2.50 a day was very reasonable. The communication with the owner was excellent and so too was the standard of the housekeeping. We will definitely stay again. In fact we are already talking about booking for Nov 2014.
Owner's reply: Thank you Wendy for a really lovely comment.
