Location description from owner

The England region

The Lake District National Park is one of the most beautiful areas in England – all year round the lakes and fells offer breath taking scenery. The area is ideal for families and within South Lakeland there are so many ways to explore the district you are spoilt for choice by foot, by cycle or by boat! You can of course tour by car or take train trips.

The Lake District is particularly good for walking, individually or as part of a group, offering all levels of walking from gentle strolls along the river or lakeside to challenging rock climbs. There are also climbing activities on offer which are wide, varied and suitable for any level of experience.

The bustling towns and villages have plenty to offer where you can shop till you drop, eat, drink and be merry in the many restaurants, cafes and tea shops. There are of course many local Pubs with excellent food, the perfect places to relax and unwind at the end of the day.

There are so many places of interest in the area that you will want to return to again and again. The lakes offer boat trips and boat hire. There are numerous National Trust and other properties to visit. Play golf or tennis or enjoy swimming at a Leisure Centre.

The region is famed for sheep rearing, the local breed being the Herdwick, the wool of which is used amongst other things for carpets and loft insulation. The local lamb is truly delicious

“Perfect”

Reviewed 21 Aug 2016

We had a wonderful week in this beautiful cottage. The owners have thought of everything to make it a true home from home. The location is perfect in an idyllic countryside setting but within easy reach of Hawkshead village. A perfect base from which to tour the Lakes.

So pleased you had a great time and enjoyed our cottage. Hope to see you again. Thanks for posting your review
