“Welcoming pet friendly cottage”

Reviewed 30 Jul 2018

A peaceful pet friendly cottage, ideally located just off the A7. Within easy reach of all Scottish border towns. Owner was most pleasant and friendly and Barney (Dog) well was just Barney. Went up hill on fabulous walk with our two dogs (Mia and Macey) and came back with three(Hello Barney). Loved it!!!!!. Plenty of walks from the cottage long or short whatever you prefer. The cottage itself was very clean and comfortable and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. As the garden is wrap around you can have breakfast on one patio and afternoon tea and evening drinks on another whilst listening to sheep over the valley. Loved the break from start to finish and would have no hesitation to return - awaiting leave confirmation at work to re-book. Thank you all.

“A Gem of a find...........”

Wonderful views greet you on arrival at this well equipped, clean cottage. The WiFi is a bonus. The host are very welcoming and friendly. The large enclosed garden was perfect for my hounds, I felt confident in letting of the lead as its completely fenced. Great walks straight from the cottage. There is so much to do and visit, I cant wait to go back in August and I'll be booking again for next year as its he perfect position for the two dog shows I attended over the weekend. I would highly recommend to family and friends

Owner's reply: Thank you very much for your lovely comments. We are delighted you enjoyed your stay and look forward to welcoming you back in August. Kerry

Owners very friendly and Barney there Labrador was a great playmate for our Labrador. Needed a relaxing break and this Was exactly as described. Loved it.

Owner's reply: Many thanks for your lovely review. We were delighted to welcome you and your dog and yes barney loved having a play mate!!! We hope to see you again. Kerry

“Very comfortable and an ideal location”

Reviewed 27 Oct 2016

Just returned from a 4 day visit to the cottage having stayed there with my wife and teenage son. We have been regular visitors to Hawick for many years and were looking for a comfortable place to stay close to Hawick town but in a quiet and peaceful location. It is easily accessed partway up a hill along a well maintained gravel driveway and we found it to be very clean, comfortable and homely. It has an excellent outlook and although we were unable to make full use of the outdoor facilities due to a busy visiting schedule, these would be a delight for anyone visiting during warmer months. The owners are very welcoming and helpful and reside fairly close by should there be any need to contact them. We hope to be able to make more visits to Hawick in the future and would be delighted to stay there again and would have no hesitation in recommending Martinshouse to friends and family.

Owner's reply: Hi Rob many thanks for your lovely review we are so glad you enjoyed your stay at Martinshouse and found it clean, comfortable and homely we would be delighted to welcome back you and your family again. Many thanks from all at Martinshouse

“Well worth a visit”

Reviewed 19 Feb 2013

This is a lovely secluded cottage in splendid countryside and within easy reach of Hawick and other local area. The cottage is comfortable and we were warmly welcomed by Mr and Mrs Turnbull. The local town has some good shops - including an excellent off-licence, a splendid tea room and no less than three "proper" butchers. Eating out choices in Hawick are a bit limited but the Italian restaurant has a good selection at reasonable prices. Recommended
