Great for a weekend break or seaside holiday and newly-decorated to a high standard, Badger's den offers a unique stay in a relaxing, garden studio flat, directly opposite the sea at St Leonard's.
This is an ideal place for two friends, a couple or family members, (with a small child is also possible), having a three-quarter loft bed, suitable for one person (the mattress is 42"(107cm) wide and can accommodate two). It has a comfortable sofa bed for a second person, with an extra stored mattress, suitable for a small child. There is no extra cleaning fee.
From the well-equipped, separate kitchen and dining area, patio doors lead into the secluded flower garden where you can dine or relax in the peaceful surroundings. The garden overlooks a low, leafy tree-lined cliff wall, which is a haven for wildlife and where badgers, hedgehogs and owls wander at night and where a host of garden birds, such as jays, doves and wrens, can be seen in the daytime.
On arrival, there's a welcome hamper in the kitchen, filled with essential first-day breakfast goodies. We also provide tea, coffee and sugar at the beginning of your stay. For shopping and dining out there are cafes, a grocer's, a delicatessen and seafront restaurants five minutes away under the columned arcade, or in St. Leonard's town centre, a ten-minute walk away. Free parking is available all along the seafront.
From Badger's Den just wander over the road to the beach to sunbathe, swim or take a walk. Beach items such as beach towels and mats, a picnic case and table and a drinks cooler are available for your use. In the evenings you can visit the traditional pubs and local music venues, the cinema or White Rock theatre and a wide choice of seaside cafes and restaurants. A TV/DVD player, WIFI and radio are provided, along with a range of books and games, videos, some binoculars, information leaflets and local transport timetables.
Local sports facilities include golf and tennis courts, sailing, fishing and bicycle hire; walking, jogging and swimming are also popular. Buses take you to Hastings old town in ten minutes from the entrance door. Here you can wander through the tiny streets and visit its quirky curiosity and antique shops and art galleries, including the Jerwood Gallery on the seafront, next to the still very active fishing fleet moored on the beach.
A visit to the fishing museum and fresh fish shops in the tall wooden smoke houses is a must! A trip up the cliff lifts to Hastings Castle or the smugglers' caves is excellent - and the coastal park is also wonderful for longer walks and picnics!

"Lovely weekend away"
What a lovely stay we had a Badger's Den over our Easter escape from London. Jo has made this a little secret haven which we enjoyed very much. The garden was a delight and the studio cosy and homely and had everything we needed. Enjoyed the walks around Hastings and the little nooks and crannies around the towns. Many thanks to Jo for making this out home away from home. Would love to return one day
Thanks so much for your review and I'm really glad you had a good time and found the place nice to stay in - maybe see you again sometime! Jo
