Whitby (10 miles away) boasts lovely sandy beaches, great restaurants and some lovely little shops amidst it's quaint cobbled streets as well as fishing and boat trips from the harbour. Scarborough offers traditional seaside entertainment with a great theatre and a sea life centre. There is plenty of lovely walking opportunities. Heartbeat country is located nearby and for the more energetic the Cleveland way is not that far away and affords magnificent views for keen walkers. Cyclists will enjoy the old Whitby to Scarborough railway line and the closely located Dalby Forest is fun for all the family, with play parks, cycle and walk tracks and a Go Ape adventure for the bigger kids. Good Restaurants and Pubs within 3 miles as are the local shops. A short drive away and you are at the historic city of York, great for a spot of shopping and seeing the sights. Landgale Cottage itself is a spacious beamed cottage, complete with open plan kitchen and living room and is adapted for wheelchair uses. The cottage sleeps 5 and has one double bedroom complete with 4 poster bed and one twin bedroom. “Ideal getaway”

Reviewed 15 Oct 2016

Lovely cottages, warm and cosy . Beautiful surroundings in the countryside. Would certainly go back.

“Home from home!”

Reviewed 15 Aug 2016

We honestly could not fault this accommodation at all. We stayed in the Langdale Cottage and was simply amazed at the cleanliness, size and general high quality of the place. Each room was very spacious, the beds were really comfortable and it felt like a home from home. The owners were really friendly and were always on hand should you need their help, advice or assistance - even their dogs, Ronnie and Oscar were friendly and welcoming as they appeared from nowhere in the courtyard to greet us. We didn't try out the hot tub or any of the other amenities that were on offer but our nephew really enjoyed his trips to the on-site play area with slide and swings. The cottages are situated in the most beautiful of countryside surroundings and they are only about 10-20 minutes away from the beaches of Scarborough or Filey. This isn't somewhere where you would stay if you want to browse the internet or send lots of text messages however as there is no mobile network signal and no data coverage or WiFi as of yet (but the handbook does say that this is coming soon). We didn't feel the need to use our mobiles though as the surroundings were so beautiful. We certainly would recommend this to anybody who wants a quiet break away and would definitely consider coming back again.

“Lovely Place”

Reviewed 9 Aug 2016

Stayed here for 5 days in August 2 adults and 3 children. When we walked in we were blown away with how clean the place was and how modern. The cottage had a wet room instead of a bathroom but we were aware of this when we booked. The carpets and furniture looked and felt really plush and expensive. The location was perfect. Yes it was out in the middle of nowhere and there was no phone or internet signal but it was literally 20 minutes drive to Scarborough one way and 20 minutes to Whitby the other way and we had our shopping delivered to the cottage so that we didn't have to go out looking for a supermarket. The kids loved the little play ground and loved feeding Porkers the pig. It felt very safe and I had no issue in letting the children play freely. I found only 3 negatives in the whole of our stay. First was the flies. Yes there were quite a few but it is a farm and there were fly catchers and fly spray in use. Second was the hot water. We found that we couldn't get a proper hot shower for the duration of our stay, the water would either be tepid or completely cold however I would imagine that we probably weren't using the control panel properly. Third was the hot tub. We paid extra to have the hot tub and even though we never had an issue with it being available we were a little bit disappointed that it wasn't for our exclusive use which when we booked we thought it was. The lady that runs the cottage is fantastic and cannot do enough for you. All in all we had a great time and would love to return in the future.

“Lovely relaxing break.”

Reviewed 13 Jul 2016

We had s lovely relaxing break at Hardwick House. So peaceful. Great secure area for kids and not far from either Whitby or Scarborough. House was lovely and spacious. Would definitely return!
