Description

In the idyllic setting of Harwood Dale, one of the loveliest valleys of the North Yorkshire Moors, surrounding by rolling hills, meandering rivers and ancient woodland, a group of handsome 17th century barns have been converted to create 5 lovely cottages, all individually designed. Retaining original beams and offering spacious accommodation, they sit round a pretty courtyard in the owner's 100 acres of grounds which visitors are free to roam which includes a lake and a small farming area, where you can meet Porker's the pet pig. There is also a fenced children's play area. With the heritage coast just 3 miles away, picturesque Robin Hoods Bay only 6 miles away and the North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railway 30 minutes drive away, the cottages offer a wonderful holiday base in a fascinating part of Yorkshire. Whitby (10 miles away) boasts lovely sandy beaches, great restaurants and some lovely little shops amidst it's quaint cobbled streets as well as fishing and boat

Whitby (10 miles away) boasts lovely sandy beaches, great restaurants and some lovely little shops amidst it's quaint cobbled streets as well as fishing and boat trips from the harbour. Scarborough offers traditional seaside entertainment with a great theatre and a sea life centre. There is plenty of lovely walking opportunities. Heartbeat country is located nearby and for the more energetic the Cleveland way is not that far away and affords magnificent views for keen walkers. Cyclists will enjoy the old Whitby to Scarborough railway line and the closely located Dalby Forest is fun for all the family, with play parks, cycle and walk tracks and a Go Ape adventure for the bigger kids. Good Restaurants and Pubs within 3 miles as are the local shops. A short drive away and you are at the historic city of York, great for a spot of shopping and seeing the sights. Dalby Cottage itself is a spacious beamed cottage, complete with open plan kitchen and living room. The cottage sleeps 4 and has one double bedroom and one twin bedroom. There is also a fully equipped bathroom. We also have an additional en suite bedroom across from this cottage which sleeps 2 people in a double bed, this is a great option for larger parties and also is perfect for if you want to bring the grandparents or the teenagers. We can accommodate bigger parties in our other properties on site as we also have a number of other cottages available, all are listed on holiday lettings so please have a look at what else we can offer

Please note - we do have an outdoor hot tub available for hire which is an extra cost per night but this would allow full private access to the hot tub for your full stay - please message for more details.

“Really enjoyable holiday”

Reviewed 27 Aug 2016

Stayed at Dalby cottage for one week with our two teenage daughters and really enjoyed our stay. The cottage was VERY clean & was a home from home with everything you would need. The area was very peaceful the views were stunning. The owners were very helpful & pleasant & take a great pride in their properties. Our girls were also very impressed We are really keen on returning in the future Thank you for a great holiday

“Rural delight!”

Reviewed 30 May 2013

Firstly location - ideally situated on the edge of the North Yorks Moors; in wonderful picturesque surroundings. Accommodation - Complex of cottages, with secure parking and surrounded by views, quite, comfortable cottage, 2 bedrooms and extremely roomy! The only downside was the lack of hot water, however we managed over a long weekend and in fairness didn't mention it to the owners. Ideal location to access all the Main Attractions - will definitely be back!

Many Thanks for the review. glad you enjoyed your stay and noted on the hot water situation which we will address straight away. We look forward to welcoming you back!!
