“Holiday with family”

Reviewed 31 Aug 2018

When we arrived at house, we were surprised to see it is not disabled friendly. When my elderly dad stood on the floor on the balcony and he tip in the hole and hurts his leg.

Owner's reply: Hello and thank you for your review. Firstly I would just like to apologise that your elderly father had injured himself during your stay. We weren’t made aware of this during your stay and have only been made aware of this from your review. Our advertisment doesn’t state that the lodge is disabled friendly and you are more than welcome to contact us before booking to establish weather our lodge suitable for persons with disabilities or unable to walk up steps ect. Unfortunately we do not have a ramp leading up to the lodge and there is a step and we do apologise if this caused any inconvenience for you during your stay! It is something we will look into changing and would welcome you to stay in the future if we do make the changes needed for you. Once again I can only offer my apologies and we hope to have you stay with us again in the future. Kind regards, Charlotte

“Spacious, clean and well equipped”

Reviewed 13 Aug 2016

This lodge was very clean and well equipped. Located in a really peaceful place. The lodge was a good size and had plenty of room for all 5 of us (three adults and 2 teenagers). Excellent communication with the owner and plenty of details provided. A really enjoyable stay, felt like home from home - the first time I have felt really comfortable away from home.

“Peace & Quiet”

Reviewed 26 Jun 2016

We stayed over half term week with our three children and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The site itself was clean and tidy. There are no on site amenities but we had our shopping delivered by Asda on arrival which was very handy. The lodge had everything you need, three good sized bedrooms (one with ensuite) with storage, a small kitchen with every pot and pan you'd ever need, a lovely little dining area and cosy living area with tv. We were extremely lucky with the weather and the patio doors were open every morning for breakfast with a lovely breeze going through the lodge. The peaceful location meant all you heard each morning was birdsong and all you saw was the odd rabbit and cows in the green fields thanks to the unspoiled view. We sat out on the decking most evenings enjoying the peace and quiet. There are two fishing lakes a short walk down the road (approx 10 minute walk) from our lodge. The larger one was good for carp early morning and evening (before the midges arrive). There's no need for anything more than bread and you're guaranteed to catch. The lakes are private and very quiet with some good pitches. The best spot we found was on the far side from where you come through the gate (10 o'clock as you look at it from the entrance). Chairs are provided too. We visited Hartland and had a nice walk around the lighthouse which is a short drive from the site. Bude is a 10/12 mile drive with it's welcoming beach and small working harbour (great for crabbing with the kids). Walking around the Hartland peninsular is very popular and there are some beautiful places to walk or run with lots of National Trust car parks around and signed routes to follow, The views are often spectacular and there are plenty of local pubs serving good food. We visited the London Inn and had a fantastic burger. Tamar Lakes are near Bude on the North Cornwall coast, these two lakes offer a variety of activities including watersports, angling, walking, cycling and relaxing and are well worth the short drive.
