Location description from owner

The Yorkshire region

Bramble Cottage and its sister Rossmoor Cottage are situated on the border of North and West Yorkshire in the lower Wharfe Valley. It is a green and pleasant land - Actually it is beautiful! Away from city life there are rolling hills with spectacular scenery & great views. Small market towns like our nearest, Otley (6 miles), have a great heart & character.

Being east of the Pennines we are sheltered and our climate is generally mild with less than average rainfall Within the golden triangle, around Harrogate, Leeds & York, the area is affluent with well kept villages - as you travel a few miles north the land rises to to the Yorkshire dales and the towns of Leyburn & Hawes - famous for its rope making and Kit Calverts Wensleydale Cheese, loved by Wallace & Grommit.
Beautiful Yorkshire - you will love it!

Harrogate

Huby, Weeton & Kirby Overblow are neighbouring villages on the outskirts of Harrogate & Leeds.
Right on our doorstep we have footpaths for walking, mountain biking, horseriding and climbing on Almsliffe Crag, just a 2 minute drive or 15 minute walk from Bramble Cottage and Rossmoor Cottage.

Good country pubs a 5/10 minute drive away include the White Hart, Pool in Wharfedale, The Smiths Arms, Beckwithshaw and The Shoulder of Mutton at Kirby Overblow and just a bit further to the Timble Inn at Timble and the Grantley Arms, Grantley.

Our nearest large town Harrogate, just 15 minutes drive, is a beautiful Victorian Spa Town with great floral displays, stylish restaurants and shopping - home of the Great Yorkshire Show, The RHS garden - Harlow Carr with childrens activities in the holidays & the famous Bettys Cafe & Tearooms.

Ideally situated for Harrogate International Centre and the Pavillions and Yorkshire Event Centre at the Great Yorkshire Showground whether you are Exhibitors or visitors.

It is a 20 mins drive to the exiting & dynamic City of Leeds, a shoppers paradise. A cosmopolitan, vibrant University City - visit the Royal Armouries or the Thackray Medical Museum.

Test match cricket takes place at Headingly & Rugby League just 15 minutes away.

It is a 40 minute drive, or why not take a train from our local Weeton station, to the historic, walled city of York. A hugely popular visitor attraction, see YorK Minster, The National Railway Museum & superb old architecture & cobbled streets.

The stately home Harewood House is a wonderful day out for the whole family with its bird garden, childrens play areas and courtyard shops & cafes.

“Best cottage”

Reviewed 7 Jan 2017

The cottage is lovely, very clean, well equipped, in a very quiet environment. The cottage is very warm in winter with adjustable temperature settings. It is surrounded by farms and beautiful rural sceneries.

“Excellent holiday cottage accomodation”

Reviewed 15 Jul 2013

We have just returned from a week In Yorkshire staying in this lovely cottage during our holiday there. We were very, very impressed by the cottage. It is in a great location for touring around the lovely surrounding countryside and the numerous local attractions. The cottage itself is attractively laid out, finished to a very high standard and extremely well equipped. We found it both a relaxing and comfortable place to stay. On returning from our daily trips, it felt just like coming home. The weather we had was fantastic and allowed us to eat outside every day and take advantage of the lovely patio area, an added bonus!. During our stay the owners , Emma and Robert, could not have been more welcoming and helpful. In short we would highly recommend Bramble cottage, without any reservation, as a place to stay.

“Fantastic cosy cottage”

What a beautiful stay we had at Bramble Cottage. The cottage was absolutely immaculate and every need was catered for with many extras which made it so easy to get straight into the holiday like the holiday pack and a huge fruit basket. We would definitely love to return and I have already recommended it to some friends. Thank you Emma and Rob.

“EXCELLENT.”

We had a lovely peaceful time at Bramble cottage with our children and our dog. The cottage was spotless and of high standard, the decor was excellent and a generous welcome pack awaited us. A spacious clean kennel is available for dogs should you need one. The kennel is under cover and is safe and secure. There are some lovely walks to be had from the cottage doorstep. Richard and Emma are so friendly, welcoming and helpful, nothing seems to much trouble for them! Thank you. Highly recommended.

“Fantastic!”

Reviewed 23 Jul 2012

Spacious, warm, comfortable and beautifully presented, with everything you could wish for in a first class holiday cottage. We cannot praise it enough. Set in open countryside, but just a short drive to Harrogate and everything the Dales has to offer. Plus a cheery and generous welcome from the owners who live next door.

“Lovely cottage in beautiful Yorkshire countryside”

Reviewed 20 Sep 2011

Bramble cottage exceeded our expectations – a quality conversion of a former farm building which is well furnished, comfortable and spotlessly clean. Everything we could possibly need was provided, including a generous welcome pack. The cottage would be ideal for one or two couples as well as families, having a bedroom and bathroom upstairs and another bedroom and ensuite on the ground floor. It is in a very peaceful countryside setting at the end of a farm track, with the owners’ farmhouse next door. A car is pretty much essential but, having said that, Leeds, Harrogate and Otley are within easy reach and Huby village itself is only a few minutes' drive, from where there are regular trains to Leeds, Harrogate and York. Despite some rather inclement weather we enjoyed our visits to Harlow Carr Gardens (RHS), Beningbrough Hall and East Riddlesden Hall and, probably best of all, Harewood House which is almost on the doorstep. There is still much to explore in this lovely part of the County and we hope to return to Bramble Cottage – we will certainly recommend it to our friends.
