(a small family run holiday complex - see home page for info/details) in HARLYN BAY, 3 miles from the harbour town of Padstow. The ground floor Delfi apartment has car parking space alongside the property. Yellow Sands is close (a 5 min walk) to the glorious horseshoe shaped, sheltered bay, which is ideal for swimming and surfing, paddle boarding and coasteering adventures!? (there is a wonderful Surf School based at Harlyn over the summer months). From the front of the Yellow Sands Apartment House there is access to the centre of the beach from the garden gate route, via footpath and along a private residential lane to reach the steps down to the sandy cove and a nice sandy spot to set down the gear and relax in the sunshine!

The ground floor garden apartment is situated on the sunny south facing side of the large, detached Edwardian property, in Harlyn Bay (a short 5min drive from Padstow Harbour.) The apartment has the benefit of its own lawned garden with shrub border and slate patio with a car parking space to the side of the building. A square conservatory/porch entrance provides additional comfy seating and is a useful area for gear. A sliding patio door leads into the main open plan living room, with kitchen facilities & dining area to the front and a very comfortable lounge area behind. There's a flatscreen 32" digital tv/dvd/vcr, & WiFi provision is reliable! All appliances are electric -there's a washing machine/tumble dryer but no dishwasher.. (teatowels are provided ;) A £1 coin meter supplies power for hot water, lighting. cooking, extra heating. Storage heating is Included in the tariff price and does provide cosy warmth to the accommodation. A door from the inner hall leads to the main entrance of the house, enabling easy access to the front of the property, for the under 12 childrens' compact, enclosed play area.. And to the footpath from the front garden gate to the cove at centre of the beach..a 5 minute safe walk (avoiding road) - from the apartment door to the seashore! 'Delfi' apartment is quite spacious - a warm, relaxed homely space in which to spend holiday time near to the beautiful beach and unspoilt coastline. The accommodation (also has 2 bedrooms and a bathroom with electric shower, wc) is well kept and has a thorough service between lets. We do live locally & are available for help also, if needs be. Hoping to ensure happy holidays are to be enjoyed in Harlyn Bay :)

The garden apartment is suited to couples and young families wanting a holiday base close to the sea and scenic coastline with amenities and things to do in the locality.. and for trips out further afield - all parts of Cornwall can generally be visited within an hours' drive of Harlyn Bay.

Guests are welcome to stay at any time during the year! Our climate is often milder in Cornwall than other parts of the country -though storms may blow up, on occasion.. (no guarantees with the weather) Harlyn Bay can be reached by car in around 3 hours from Bristol (so, yes, we are better suited to a weeks stay than a weekend break) - but non the less, this is a super place to be for an out of main season, sunny escape ..as well as for the traditional run to the beach for summer school hols family fun!

Delfi is located at Yellow Sands - which is a small, family run holiday complex comprising of nine quality apartments (some with sea views) and nine delightful modern Cottages set in well tended lawned gardens, in a rural farmland location..on the north Cornish coastline - a 5 minute walk, from the accommodation, to the middle of a most wonderful beach.. renowned for safe bathing (as horseshoe shaped bay is protected by Trevose Headland - so not such strong currents) - all/most beaches do have Life Guards during the summer season. Rockpooling and fishing are also great pastimes down at the beach. All then there are the fantastic walks to be enjoyed from Harlyn in either direction along the South West Way Coastal Footpath.. locally the coast paths link all seven nearby beaches and with a few great stop offs en route and buses to jump on, if necessary to get back to base - it is a lovely way to make the most of this scenic coastal area.

AUGUST VACANCIES from 10th and also some availability in MAY & JUNE as well as SEPTEMBER which are beautiful and quieter times to visit, if you are able to escape out of the school holiday times (particularly older people - do pass on if can recommend) The tariff is very reasonable and we are open to a discount for smaller numbers of guests. Please enquire for an online quote. Unfortunately there is a commission to pay..unless you are able to find a direct enquiry is better. Delfiholidays -bookings are taken on a short break, weekly or fortnightly (discount) basis with Sat to Sat changeover in August but flexible dates at other times of year, when we offer the accommodation for relaxing or active breaks through the scenic Spring, Autumn and Wintertime.

We allow well behaved dogs out of the summer school holiday weeks (not during, due to the area being so busy generally). Please note that We Do Not allow Smoking inside the properties, thank you.. although it does say on here that smoking is allowed!? This is Outside the premises.

The apartment is a very comfortable place to stay, throughout the year. If you are keen to get your boots on and go out walking the coastline footpath or eager to pull on and get your wetsuit into action, catching a few waves - Easy access from 'Yellow Sands' location. Harlyn Surf School is here to help with many options. If, on the other hand you just want to enjoy a leisurely stroll together on the wide expansive beach, maybe explore the rockpools at either end or dig with bucket and spade.. Harlyn Bay is a great place to be.. breathing in the fresh sea air, feeling peaceful and rejuvenated!

There are many other activities to be enjoyed from nearby Padstow and our village, at St. Merryn - many places to dine out or take on board a beer! A varied calendar of events to enjoy over the year.. both locally and across Cornwall. Padstow has a really special pre Christmas food demo/gift Festival on the harbour front over 4 days at the beginning of December. The atmosphere is great and so much to enjoy around the town shops, pubs and restaurants also. - Our 'Delfi' garden apartment or other Yellow Sands accommodation options offer a super base to stay as only a short drive into Padstow from Harlyn beach.

The apartment garden is for the use of 'Delfi' guests only. It is raised up from the lane and safely fenced. It is not gated completely but can easily be barracaded when necessary. On the main premises there is a small, safe/secure play area for young children (under 12) with a swing; slide; seesaw; spring chicken ride; games table; hopscotch; naughts/crosses, etc.

The fine sandy beach is only a 5 minute stroll from the property.. where so much memorable family fun is to be had. Accessible on foot from the back garden gate of the house, via footpath and a short private lane you reach the coastal footpath and steps down to the cove at the centre of the beach. This coastline is designated..an area of outstanding natural beauty - yet, it is not remote, with lots happening locally throughout the seasons.. sports and activities abound.. (Trevose Golf Links are only a mile away, Camel Cycle Trail sets off along the banks of the estuary, at Padstow) There are many country pubs to be found; a good selection of local village shops at St. Merryn, the supermarket and picturesque Harbour at Padstow are all within easy reach.

The apartment has a double bedroom and also a twin bedroom with beds that can be linked together for a second double room.
We do allow a pet dog to stay for £10 additional cost. Please note that there is however a Restriction in that the small holiday complex Does Not Allow Pets During Summer School Holidays - when the area is very busy. Over the other school hols and the rest of the year, a pet dog is welcome (the beach is dog friendly, for a good run!)
Smoking is OK in the conservatory!

Sorry about the shower.. It was new last year and is as powerful as can get in the apartment building. Yes the decor is in line for an update. Since visit there has been replacement furniture in the bedrooms.. But not the double bed as I hadn't known it was a problem before. I shall have to check it out before next guests arrive.

Thank you for taking the trouble to leave a review for 'Delfi'. I appreciate the feedback with regards to the functionality of the apartment, particularly the wc. It is with regret that whilst having a new toilet installed before Easter... that I chose a regular low toilet suite which was readily available at the suppliers.. I had seen a highter toilet - which I should have ordered and waited for delivery! The toilet that I had installed has a smaller header tank and I thought this would improve the awkward position of the toilet by not taking up as much depth. But,not to be. It was also hoped that an option of placing the new toilet on the side wall would have solved the cramped space between the toilet and the bath ..which is partly infront. The problem with turning the toilet around was the soil pipe and although connector pipework could have made it possible.. it was decided against as thought the towel rail would be in the way. Basically, I need to reconfigure the bathroom properly next year. The ornaments aren't generally troublesome.. but in the twin or second bedroom the bedside cabinets are quite small. These are in the process of being replaced by a corner shelving unit and a larger bedside cabinet to fit between the 2 beds. With regards to the wheelchair access - there is usually discussion as to access.. and it is mentioned that although easy access to the apartment, being on the ground floor with it's own entrance.. there isn't a ramp into the conservatory. We do have a specially adapted 5* one bedroomed property, "Lerryn" - at Yellow Sands Cottages with full disabled wider door access and a spacious bathroom with wetroom shower, etc..

Hello Jo, Well, where have I been.. I have only recently seen your lovely, welcome review of our 'delfi' garden apartment. I don't like to prompt guests to leave a review as I feel that it is 'up to the guests themselves' but perhaps it is suggested by the site. Anyway, thank you so much - I am really glad that you enjoyed your stay in Harlyn, you certainly came at the right time of year when the roads aren't half as busy as they are at present. I can't understand the rush to be here over the bank holidays when so much more leisurely to visit during May and June and September and October.. but we know why - ruled over by the school holidays.. It is high time they were varied for didn't school age groups. It is sad nowadays that younger families can't break away before the main school hols..and save into the bargain.) I do appreciate your recommendation to stay here. It is a cosy spot and comfortable too. Not many people leave little 'love notes' on scraps of paper these days.. although a family did a couple of weeks ago ..and a German family left me a box of chocolates as a thank you.. which I enjoyed immensely ..they didn't holiday in my own 'delfi' but one of the other properties I care for closeby. :) xx Look forward to seeing you more next time you visit from Yorkshire (my 'ancestral' home of origin..!?)
