Location description from owner

The England region

This part of SW London caters to all tastes, from those with an interest in history, architecture, museums, arts & culture to lovers of nature and the outdoors.

There's a great deal of green space for walking and hiking in parks, commons and along the River Thames. Also there are many museums and places of historic interest.

Hampton

Hampton feels like a real community: people talk to each other. This place gives you a flavour of how London once was - as one of a collection of distinct villages that gradually joined to become the metropolis that is London. Hampton and Hampton Hill have retained a local feel, with independent shops and restaurants, not yet subsumed by the corporate chains that render one high street indistinguishable from another.

Aside from easy access to central London (40 minutes direct train service), Hampton also benefits from lovely open spaces, with Bushy Park (the 2nd largest of London's royal parks) and Hampton Court Park on your doorstep.

It's a great spot for cyclists and it's possible to cycle from here to Putney and Roehampton via the banks of the River Thames and Bushy and Richmond Park (the largest royal park, with fabulous views over London), almost entirely off-road and many other London attractions are accessible via quieter back roads. it's equally possible to visit many pretty towns and villages of the Surrey and Middlesex countryside.

If you want to have a taste of local British football, Hampton & Richmond FC have their ground in Station Road, just down the road from this property, and host regular fixtures there.

Hampton Court palace dates from the early 16th century and was inhabited by Henry VIII. It's also famous for its annual flower show and concerts and you can catch a boat from here up the river into central London.

Hampton also has an open-air heated swimming pool (next to Bushy Park): it's open 365 days of the year and hosts big-name concerts every July. Hampton village green (50 yards from the house) hosts fairs and open-air movie nights during the summer.

Within a 3-minute walk of the house you'll find all the amenities you need including shops, supermarkets, banks, pubs, cafes, restaurants and takeaways.

Nearby is the historic market town of Kingston-upon-Thames, with its extensive shopping centre, large selection of restaurants and bars, multi-screen cinema, theatre and nightlife catering to the large student population. A 24hr bus service (111) connects Kingston and Hampton station.

House rules

This house is not suitable for very young children or very elderly guests: there are hard floor surfaces throughout and a steep staircase to the bedrooms, which is open on one side. Also, the bathroom is downstairs.
This is my home (I live here when it's not let in its entirety) and I want to keep good relations with my neighbours so if you're looking for somewhere that you can freely host loud, late nights and parties - please don't book this place.
