Description from owner

Description

Hope Sike cottage is a one bed-roomed cottage on Scotchcoulthard Farm which is situated four miles north of Hadrian's Wall in The Northumberland National Park at its most spectacular part. It is halfway between Carlisle and Hexham on the edge of Wark Forest which leads into Kielder Forest. It is necessary to cross the wall to reach Scotchcoulthard and the sites of Housesteads, Vindolanda and The Roman Army Museum are only a short distance away. There is room in the bedroom for a cot or truckle bed for a small child.

Although remote, Scotchcoulthard is not isolated. It is possible to be parked in The Metro Centre, Newcastle, Carlisle, The Lake District or Scotland within the hour.

There are three cottages in total and this cosy cottage, which has been described as a "little Gem", is ideal as a romantic getaway cottage or an extra cottage to use when bringing parents or teenagers on holiday. The small entrance hall leads into the living area with a stone flagged

There are three cottages in total and this cosy cottage, which has been described as a "little Gem", is ideal as a romantic getaway cottage or an extra cottage to use when bringing parents or teenagers on holiday. The small entrance hall leads into the living area with a stone flagged floor covered with rugs. This room rises high into the pitch and has roof lights and windows catching the early morning sun.

The living area is open plan with a wood burning stove, coal and logs provided, with a leather reclining couch opposite. Set in a long recess is the counter and sink with twin electric hob and combination microwave. The dining table sits in front of the french windows which open out onto a patio area with fantastic views of the countryside.

The bedroom, with super king-size bed that can be split to twin beds, is bright and sunny. It leads into the en-suite bathroom which has a large double ended bath, sink and toilet.

The farm is set within 180 acres and is surrounded by splendid scenery with magnificent views and not another inhabited dwelling in sight. We welcome dogs and our own will welcome you. We don't charge extra for dogs and there is no restriction on number.

There are Rare Breed pigs, sheep, Belted Galloway cows and a Turner the horse. Farm produce is often available.

Location description from owner

The England region

Scotchcoulthard Farm is situated 4 miles north of Hadrian's Wall at its most spectacular point. The farm is on the edge of Wark Forest which leads into Kielder Forest (an ideal trip in a 4x4). The museums of Vindolanda, Housesteads and The Roman Army Museum are a 20 minute drive away. Further afield there is a Go-Ape and then once in Newcastle all the the city life. Durham is a lovely old city to visit and Beamish Museum is not far from there.
Going north-east are the wonderful sandy, quiet Northumberland beaches, Bamburgh and Alnwick castle and the fabulous Alnwick Gardens.
A short drive to the west and you are in Cumbria and The Lake District with all its attractions.
