Location description from owner

The England region

The northerly county of Northumberland is a hidden gem of totally unspoilt countryside. We are ideally located for exploring Hadrian's Wall, Kielder Forest Park, and even the Lake District in Cumbria. Our position midway between the two coasts of the north of England means that you can travel either east into Cumbria or west into Northumberland for days out. To the west, you can easily access Carlisle, Brampton and Penrith and venture into the Lake District, while to the East you can visit Hexham, Corbridge and Newcastle. Best of all about our location is that to the north lies the wild vastness of Northumberland National Park. This is superb walking country, so bring your walking boots! If you want to stretch your legs and breathe in clean country air this is the place for you, with miles of wide open spaces and magnificent views.

Haltwhistle

The property is located in Halton Lea Gate approximately 6 miles from Haltwhistle and is perfectly located for those wishing to explore the World Heritage Site of Hadrian Wall, and for walkers of all abilities, being close to the Northumberland National Park. The Roman Forts of Vindolanda, Housesteads and Chesters are a short drive away, as are Corbridge, Hexham and Morpeth. The beautiful houses and landscaped gardens of Wallington Hall and Belsay Hall are also only a stones throw away. There are various local pubs nearby where you can meet the locals or grab a light lunch, The Featherstone Arms, 3 miles, The Wallace Arms 4 miles and The Belted Will just 5 miles. “A Lovely Easter Break”

Reviewed 19 Apr 2017

We were made to feel very welcome on our arrival at The Coach House. A wonderfully unique property that was well equipped and careful thought had been taken to ensure all ages were provided for. Beds were clean, comfy and roomy. We did find it very cold on our first night but this improved once we'd got the hang of how the heating system worked. Plenty of additional blankets were available to keep us warm though. In the winter months, probably a good idea to bring slippers and fleecy PJ'S. Due to the fires the place does get quite dusty, but this was expected. Note also for larger families additional pans would be beneficial. Although available we struggled with the small pan set (teenage bellies to fill!) Otherwise we had no complaints and returned home feeling well rested and refreshed. The surrounding area appeared remote but nearest town was within a 15 minute drive. Local beauty spots were definitely worth a look. We really enjoyed our weekend. Thankyou for having us.
