Description

The Old Church, Hallistra is an historic "Telford Church". Thomas Telford, Scottish civil engineer and architect who also designed the Caledonian Canal, was commissioned to design a simple to construct church that could be easily built in areas of the Highlands and Islands that were without a parish church. Built in the 1820's, The Old Church has been split into two cottages and one of these is available to rent as a unique holiday home.

The entrance hall is perfect for leaving muddy boots and waterproof jackets. It gives access to both floors and there is a downstairs W/C leading off from it. The comfy and spacious living area has a flat screen TV, video/DVD player, I-pod docking station and wood burner. Three bags of coal will be provided for each weekly let and any extra required will need to be bought in. There are local suppliers in the area.

Three bags of coal will be provided for each weekly let and any extra required will need to be bought in. There are local suppliers in the area.

Through the living room there is a large family kitchen with electric cooker, microwave, large fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer. The living area also has a formal dining table and chairs.

The family bedroom is spacious, light and airy with two arched windows. There is a large wardrobe, chest of drawers and bedside cabinets for storage as well as a TV area with a rocking chair. It has a double bed and two twin beds. The double/twin bedroom has two locking beds to provide flexible accommodation. There is plenty of storage with a large chest of drawers and wardrobe. The family bathroom has a walk in shower, bath, WC and basin.

The Old Church is set back from the road and is secluded by trees and shrubs giving a great sense of privacy. There is off street parking to the rear of the house. It is about 2 miles from the picturesque fishing village of Stein with The Stein Inn and The Lochbay Seafood Restaurant. It is the perfect place to explore Waternish with it's artist studio's, fantastic coastline and great restaurants as well as the rest of the island.

With each weekly booking you will receive a complimentary boat trip with Wild Skye Boat Trips to explore Loch Harport and Bracadale. Departing from Carbost, they make a great day out! Please note these will be subject to availability and are weather dependent.
