|Further details indoors|
There is an open plan living room, kitchen and dining area with vaulted ceiling and views down to the lake. Sliding doors open onto a deck which is great for barbecues in the summertime (it had a massive 640 sq ft wraparound extension added in October 2012, sorry - no pictures yet!) and separate sliding doors lead to a sunroom. The living room has a fireplace, satellite television/ dvd, ipod speakers, a luxurious new leather L-shaped sofa (again, no pictures yet, pending!) and a wonderful view down to the lake. The kitchen is very well equipped with an island unit, quality microwave, convection oven, fridge, blender and plenty of crockery and utensils. The dining room seats 8 while 3 barstools provide further eating space at the island unit.
There are two bedrooms and a bathroom on the main floor as well as a washing machine and tumble drier. The master bedroom has double sliding doors and a balcony looking down to the lake while the other bedroom has a double bed with a single bunk over it. The bathroom has a bath with shower.
Downstairs there is a recreation room with another television, dvd player and a games machine. There is a small utility and double doors lead outside. Two further bedrooms and a bathroom (with shower) are also on this floor: one bedroom has a double bed and a single bed while the other bedroom has a double bunk with a single bunk above.
|Further details outdoors|
Outside there is a firepit - great for roasting marshmallows and stargazing- as well as a basketball net.
A path leads down to the lake where there are 2 waterfront areas. The dock is out from June until September and it leads out to deep water, suitable for diving. There is also a gradual entry area with rock steps leading down into the water - good for young children. The lake has been measured to be one of the cleanest in Ontario and it warms up in the summer for excellent swimming and boating. A canoe is available for use and further boats can be rented in Haliburton.
There is plenty of wildlife in the area. We usually see deer when driving up the road at dusk, while wild turkeys, beaver and heron have all been seen.
The lake is well stocked for fishing, with bass and lake trout.
The cottage is fully winterized and is accessible in the wintertime - please note that a four wheel drive or snow chains may be necessary.
Up to 2 well-behaved dogs may be permitted - please enquire.

The Ontario region
July and August are busy as everyone heads north for the lakes from the hot and humid city areas: Besides the swimming, canoeing, hiking and sunbathing at the cottage itself, places nearby provide waterskiing, golf, tennis, etc.
September is very quiet with children having returned to school- the days remain warm while the evenings are cooler.
At the end of September the leaves start changing colour and the autumn colours are glorious - generally until mid October.
In the winter cross country skiing, toboganning and ice-fishing are possible from the cottage, while dog-sledding and downhill skiing are a 30-45 minute drive away.
The cottage is a 20 minute drive from the lovely village of Haliburton, an old logging town 2 hours drive north of Toronto. Haliburton has shopping, restaurants, a lovely gallery, boat rentals and an internet cafe. Haliburton Forest has a Wolf Centre as well as a ""Walk in the Clouds Tree Top Canopy Walk"".
The cottage is also near the Algonquin Provincial Park- a huge (7630 square kms) wildlife preserve perfect for canoeing trips/ hiking/ camping/ fishing.
Bancroft, the ""Gem Capital of Canada"" is a 30 minute drive.

"Beautiful Cottage on a quiet lake"
This cottage was so beautiful!! This was our first stay and we were not disappointed at all. This place is VERY well stocked for a very enjoyable stay. It had everything from a Keurig and a regular coffee maker, to more than enough plates, bowls, utensils, and other kitchen and BBQ accessories as well as a dishwasher to make the stay very easy and enjoyable. As this cottage sleeps up to 13 people, there is plenty of room inside so nobody is tripping over each other if you get stuck inside on a rainy day. Lake Miskwabi is beautiful too. A quiet lake with good large mouth bass fishing and some loons to keep you company on the water. The water on the lake is clean, clear and surprisingly warm (at least when we were there in late August 2015). If I could make one change to this cottage it would be some structured steps down to the dock at some time in the future. As it stands right now, getting to the water is no trouble but given what Haliburton is in landscape, I can see how it would be more convenient in the future at some point. All in all a wonderful stay, a beautiful cottage and lake. I would recommend it to anyone.

"Beautiful cottage fully equipped."
This is not a cottage, this is a "home!" This is a beautiful cottage, fully equipped with everything you can think of. Next year, we will take half of what we took this year. I have never rented a cottage that is as equipped as this one. There is nothing "extra" you need to take for use in the kitchen. You don't even need to take chairs for outside as there are plenty on the deck, around the fire pit and down on the dock. The layout of this cottage is perfect for large families. The main level is an open concept kitchen, eating area and great room along with two bedrooms, full bathroom and laundry facilities. The dining room table seats 8 and there are 4 stools at the kitchen island. There is also another fully enclosed sun porch off of the dining room with another table that seats 6. Downstairs is another large family room, two bedrooms plus another room with bunk beds and a full bathroom with a walk out to the ground level. Lots of space for a large family with quiet space for everyone. Do not be concerned that the owners of this property live in the UK. This cottage rental is totally legitimate. We communicated with the owners by email and had no problems at all. Our security deposit was returned within 4 days of returning home from their cottage. I will gladly verify to anyone interested in renting this cottage that it is a legitimate cottage rental. We are looking forward to returning to this cottage next summer.

The cottage itself was very nice and clean. It had everything you need. The lake was beautiful and very relaxing. Very peaceful and quiet. My teenage kids enjoyed fishing, canoeing and campfires at night. It is a great family getaway place.

The cottage is located just in front of the lake. It was quite and beatifiul. The owner provided a canon and a surfing board, which added lots of fun to our stay. The cottage was clean and neat. The books the owner kept in the cottage were fantastic. We liked it very much. One little thing you might want to keep in mind and I believed it applied to almost every cottage or camping side is to remember bring your mosquito spread when you go to the water front. That's a only think a little bit noisy in our 3 days stay. We are planning to come back in October and hope we can make it. Great cottage, Dianne!

"Well-equipped cottage in a fabulous setting"
The cottage and location are exactly as advertised, their website details are accurate and realistic. The lake is large yet feels very quiet and private. Water is clean and inviting. We were a group of 8 adults and the cottage worked perfectly for the group of us, both inside and outside. The kitchen is especially well-equipped and there are lots of indoor entertainment opportunities with 2 TV's, wifi, etc. Great communication with the owner who is extremely responsive - for example, we discovered a problem with the BBQ one morning and there was a brand new one on site before dinnertime that same day. Highly recommend this cottage property.

"Excellent Thanksgiving weekend"
We booked the cottage with Dianne, the owner, a month before the expecting dates, for Thanksgiving weekend. She answered all our questions and accommodated our large group of 13 perfectly. She is really reactive and gets back to you shortly when emails was sent out. The cottage was FABULOUS and very spacious, located in a beautiful and quiet location, on the Miskwabi lake. Canoe/bikes/basketball and Nature was provided so no way to get bored! It was a real surprise to find a place like that! The cottage has 2 levels and both are well equipped with appropriate furniture: rooms/bathrooms were clean, the furniture new, the kitchen to cook our turkey was so workable! And the fireplace was so handsome! (the one inside AND outside) As I said to Dianne, it was such a pleasant time. Just wake up in the morning, go on the deck in the lake and listen…BEAUTIFUL. + : The cottage itself – so clean, nice, it’s definitely a place to go! - : 20min away from Gas station/Grocery store/Garbage location Dianne made that cottage so livable that I will definitely consider to go back soon! Thank you!!

"Beautiful private cottage"
We had a wonderful weekend at the cottage. Dianne was a pleasure to deal with and responded to email promptly. The cottage is as described. It is a very secluded property on a quiet lake. We enjoyed using the canoe and fishing off the beautiful dock. There was lots of firewood provided for the fire pit and some interesting books to read. We went as two families and there was enough room for all of us. The scenery is amazing!

"Delightful cottage in a beautiful location"
We have returned from 4 very enjoyable days at this cottage. The house itself is very well furnished with every amenity you could wish for, the two lounges would be great for families with children of varying ages. Its location is excellent with a lovely dock overlooking a very quiet lake. The wrap around deck is perfect for relaxing with a book. I would add that the path down to the dock is fairly steep and slippery after a wet spell. Over all a great place to unwind.

"great getaway with friends for Canada Day long weekend"
We travelled with 10 friends for the Canada Day long weekend. Booking the cottage was easy, Diane gets back to you really quickly, and she is always friendly and professional. The cottage is right on the lake! It is really secluded, there are neighbours on both sides, but you can not see them or hear them - the tree line that separates the cottages makes it very private. There is plenty of space to relax - depending on your style. Some of us took the canoe out for a few hours everyday and explored the lake. Others hung out on the deck all day in the zero gravity chairs. During the day we also spent time on the dock, and went swimming, the water was very warm and clear. In the evening we would hang out by the firepit...there was plenty of wood provided, and we were able to make a fire every night. The cottage itself is very well taken care of, kitchen, bathrooms and bedrooms are clean. Overall great stay and would recommend it for group of friends or a couple of families.
