“stunning sunset views over the sea”

Reviewed 2 Aug 2016

excellent stay, thank you. had no problems. Comfy bed, hot shower, only ran out of power once because we had too many lights on.

“Stunning location”

Reviewed 28 Jul 2013

We stayed here for my fiance's birthday and had a great time. The view is simply beautiful and the beach is only a 2min walk (really quiet secluded beach, we were the only 2 down there moat the time). We had a couple of issues with the beach retreat as in things not working properly (oven, fridge, shower) but it didn't ruin our stay. We did try to get hold of Vanessa during our stay to ask about these things but she was on holiday so we just got on with it really, however after our stay I let her know the issues and she thanked me for pointing them out. Remember this is an eco lodge and the electricity is not powerful enough to use hairdryer/straighteners etc however the lovely lady at the farmhouse let me use her plug socket. Perfect place to escape the everyday.

“Cosy eco cabin”

Amazing place to stay, cosy and well equipped! Even in winter the log burner warms the whole cabin! Location was perfect, right on the beach with views of the Solent.

“Excellent stay - relaxing”

We would stay again - helpful owner, great location and nice chalet. The unspoilt beach is 2 mins walk away. Great panoramic views from the chalet. Definely recommended!

“A place where tranquility meets nature....”

Reviewed 9 Oct 2012

Me and my partner stayed here for 4 nights. The bumpy roads leading to the beach retreat gave us no clue what was awaiting us.( low suspension cars are not adviced, but I still manged to drive my slk sport very slowly through the farm track). It was amazing.. So isolated from the crowd and cry of the towns.. Peaceful and serene.. Everything was perfect as you would imagine a peaceful relaxing getaway to be. No interference from neighbours, owner or anybody else. I loved the log fire. Lighting it was my fav pastime. The views were stunning especially the sunset. We went on walks along the coast n the cliffs which was lovely. In summary one of the best holidays we had (even though it rained most of the time). Staying in a cozy retreat having a hot cuppa was even more exciting .,,,,, couldn't have asked for more and I think no words or reviews would do enough justice in describing the place...

“A well equiped and comfortable home in a wonderfully peaceful location.”

Reviewed 7 Apr 2012

The Beach Retreat is well equiped, comfortable, wonderfully cosy and located in the most peaceful of locations. The log burner was lovely in the evenings, and would make the retreat the perfect place to be any time of the year. No TV was complete bliss and the children aged 9 & 10 amuzed themselves in the garden, on the beach, and in the field opposite the Retreat or with the array of boards games supplied. We enjoyed watching the boats sail by, and the fantastic view. The eco power was a good lesson for the children. There were plenty of places to go and visit on the Island all of which were a very short journey away. I recommend the walk to Gurnard and tea and cake or cooked breakfast at the Waterside Cafe. This was the perfect holiday and we will definatly be coming back again.

“Perfect for the little ones.”

Reviewed 5 Oct 2011

The Beach retreat was the perfect getaway for a long weekend. It was only a short drive from the ferry and once you arrived you were in complete calm and tranquility. The views from Beach Retreat are just beautiful. Especially when the sun goes down. We had a BBQ every night whilst listening to the wind up radio. I was also really impressed with the interior of the Beach Retreat. It was actually finished to a very high standard. We took a walk along the beach every morning which our 18 month old loved. And found it very easy to visit any part of the Isle of Wight from this location. I didn't realise just how small the island is. Anywhere is accessible within a day. Vanessa, did a great job at communicating with us. She also kindly posted several of the toys that our son left behind. All in all a GREAT holiday. Thank you x

“A good back-to-basics experience”

Reviewed 18 Sep 2011

An eco-friendly experience for those who still enjoy a spot of home comforts in a great position overlooking The Solent - make sure you have the bird-watching books and binoculars with you. You can walk to Cowes along the Coastal Path (if you are feeling fit and energetic) or its just a 10-min drive and free parking after 6pm. IoW is awash with places to see and things to do, but make sure you also give yourself time to just sit back and enjoy the views and peace & quiet of The Retreat and watch some stunning sunsets.

“Fantastic hideaway!”

Reviewed 24 Aug 2011

The Beach Retreat really is a retreat away from everything. It is cosy and bijoux, but has everything you could possibly need for a short break away. We loved it... quiet beach walks on your doorstep first thing in the morning, short drive into town, secluded location, BBQs whilst listening to the sea, watching the boats moor and the sun go down, watching the rabbits in the garden, listening to the wind up radio (or my husband on his guitar). I could go on, but enough to say we will definitely be going back!

“Idyllic”

Reviewed 24 Aug 2011

We had 5 days at the Beach Retreat at the beginning of August. The location was absolutely stunning, just a short walk to the Beach where we went fishing and barbecued. The retreat itself was comfortable and clean, and just thoroughly relaxing.
