Location description from manager
The Turkish Aegean Coast region
This peaceful village is one of the oldest settlements on the peninsula. It has modest restaurants two or three small markets and shops selling local artefacts, but it retains a small-scale atmosphere for the simple reason that most of the village is designated an official archaeological site so that no landscaping alterations or new groundbreakings are allowed.
If you walk for ten minutes to the bay north east of Gümüslük you will see a buried wall jutting from a hillside into the sea. While the area's archaeological status forbids diving with tanks, snorklers will find more walls under water here, as well as an ancient breakwater in the harbour.
The island, known as Rabbit Island by the locals, separates the two well-sheltered bays of Gümüslük. If you sit in a shoreside restaurant and watch for a while you will see rabbits on the island. It is possible to wade to the island through knee-deep water and sunbathe and dive from the many rock formations. Several restaurants have terraced roof, perfect for enjoying the tranquil scene or for watching the sunset. There are many excellent restaurants supplying fantastic food, particularly fresh fish and seafood, of good quality in an uncrowded environment. A visit to cafe Limon on the road to the villa from Gumusluk is a must for really good Mezes in a quirky setting watching the sun set behind Pserimos. Restaurants in the village are literally feet from the sea and are typified by their rushwoven umbrellas. It is easy to waste many hours sat in the comfortable low seating with one foot in the sea sipping a cool drink.

TURKISH GULET CRUISES
Why not take advantage of Bodrum's alluring coast line by going on a daily gulet boat trip, stopping off at secluded coves for a spot of sunbathing, swimming and snorkelling. Alternatively, in the area's maritime tradition, we can organise a private yacht charter from one of the many locally-based agencies.
Also Within Reach:
- Pamukkale: Literally translated as "cotton castle", the amazing calcium rock formations should be seen to be believed. While in the area, it is worth visiting the nearby ancient city of Aphrodisias.
- Ephesus: This amazing ancient city can be reached in about 2 and a half hours with the Temple of Artemis known as one of the 7 wonders of the Ancient World and the House of the Virgin Mary where she was known to have spent her last days.
Nightlife Bodrum and Gumbet
Bodrum's nightlife is the most lively along the length of the Aegean. Indeed, Bodrum has more bars per area than any other place in Turkey. By night, head to the mile long Cumhuriyet Street, also known as 'Bar Street' for as much all-night partying as you can take. Live music, local and international DJs and show dancers are all on offer. Visit one of the worlds few open air nightclubs like the famous Halikarnas or dance the night away at sea on the Club Catamaran.
Gumbet is the Party resort of the Bodrum peninsula and is a very popular tourist resort for the younger generation. Gumbet suits all tastes and has a variety of bars and discos to choose from. Try the typical style Turkish bar and listen to the live music or why not try your own bar crawl and head towards the clubs in the main street called bar street where all types of music from pop, rock, RnB and dance is played.
