The Persian name ROYA translates to 'a dream come true', premonition and vision ... exactly what Roya's owners have created.

Perched on a gentle sloping hillside just outside Gumusluk Bay''s traditional fishing harbour in one direction and Yalikavak with it's super Marina in the other direction, Roya offers the experience of a tranquil countryside setting and the buzzing cosmopolitan resort of Yalikavak a few minutes drive away. From the well-equipped kitchen to the contemporary designed and furnished living space which opens airily onto the surrounding sea facing terraces, there is little need to stray from the private pool and gardens. Simply recline, relax and soak up those views of the turquoise Aegean shimmering in the sun. When it's time to retire to bed, 3 spacious smartly furnished bedrooms provide a calm and cooling atmosphere to aid a good night's rest. The master has an en-suite shower room with high quality fittings and tiles, the family bathroom mirrors this.

The emphasis is on the outside 'theatre' of views at Roya: the sparkling turquoise waters of the Aegean lapping around the islands in the distance; the white washed walls of the village houses; the green of the pine trees on the surrounding hillside. Dine under the covered pergola during the day or evening, laze around the pool on quality sun loungers or gently walk down the steps into the cool waters of the pool. As the sun sets in the Aegean, walk from the kitchen with your favourite cocktail and sit on the purpose built padded outside sofa and watch the sun go down and the whole area around light up... Roya... 'a dream villa'.

Rooms are sleek and contemporary in style and comparable to a high quality boutique hotel, creating a chic contrast to the casual rustic nature of the surrounding area.

PRIVATE POOL

There is also a pool shower and two purpose built bench seating areas with padded cushions. One down by the side of the pool is perfect for Sunset cocktails, the other is a comfortable shady place to sit and drink in the views during the day.

SHARED POOL
A short walk away takes guests to the large SHARED pool (with shallow end) for young children.

TERRACES & BBQ
There are sun and shady terraces across the front and side of the villa with a dining table, 6 chairs and Weber gas BBQ/utensils positioned for al-fresco dining in the 'conservatory' which has full length sliding glass panels. This enables the dining area to be open during the summer months and, with the glass panels slid to, encases the area into a dining room with a view during cooler weeks.

The kitchen patio is open for taking in the sun but has shade provided by the umbrella.

The decor of the inside spills outside as two purpose built stone and wood bench style sofas have been made and upholstered in the same shade as the internal lounge fabrics. Perfect for sunset cocktails.

Lawned private gardens wrap around the side and back of Roya providing quiet places to sit and read.

BEACH/RESTAURANTS/SHOP
At lunch or dinner time, a 3 minute drive takes you to the restaurants lining Gumusluk Bay. OR, you can walk downhill to the Bay in 10/15 minutes. Yalikavak is a 15 min or so drive in the opposite direction.
En-route to Gumusluk Bay you will pass a Bakal 'corner shop' which is open all hours and perfect for daily fresh bread and essentials. This is a 5 minute walk from Roya.

Location description from manager

The Turkish Aegean Coast region

The Bodrum Peninsula - Aegean coast
On the Bodrum Peninsula buildings are not permitted to be built more than 2 stories high, and there are no buildings higher than 3 stories in the whole Peninsula. This tends to make the area look particularly attractive. Most of the buildings are white washed cubes, similar to those in the Greek Islands. This is because this part of Turkey used to belong to Greece and some of the Greek Islands used to belong to Turkey. As you can imagine, there is a lot of history around the area.

History
Archaeological excavations have established that human habitation in the Yalikavak area began in around 2000BC, and there are ruins and artefacts from the Carian, Hellenistic, Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman eras. The historic sites such as Sandima, Pasanda (Geri?), Kandiba and Termil (Dirmil/Gökçebel) attract visitors from all over the world. Yalikavak is famous for the numerous windmills found in the vicinity. The winds, that until recently turned the vanes of these working windmills, now fill the sails of boats and windsurfs. Another “typical” feature found in abundance here are domed water cisterns which, in the past, were used in times of drought and are now being adapted for artistic and cultural uses.

Ferry trips to the Greek island of Kos can be made from Bodrum
Further afield you can visit Ephesus, the largest archaeological site in the world, the stunning pools at Pamukkale, the royal rock tombs at Dalyan, and the temple of Apollo at Didim.

Gumusluk

GUMUSLUK BAY
Whether you are having your holiday in one of the resorts on Bodrum Peninsula or in Gumusluk, reward yourself with a day at Gumusluk Bay.

Gumusluk is a small village at the tip of the Bodrum Peninsula about 30 minutes drive from Bodrum itself. This peaceful traffic free village seems a world away from the hustle and bustle of modern life, away from the well-trodden tourist track in central Bodrum. The whitewashed houses are covered with colorful flowers.

Head for the two narrow sandy beaches and take your swimming gear, each curling around its own bay and separated by a beautiful rounded islet. At Gumusluk harbour visitors can explore Rabbit Island walking through history along an ancient causeway, enjoying the sun, refreshing yourself in the crystal clear sea are only some examples of what Gumusluk Bay offers visitors.

Once you've had enough of sunbathing and swimming in the calm, clear waters, sip a local beer or chilled wine at a friendly fish restaurant or cafe along the waterfront, for which the village is famous and where you can sometimes choose your own fish straight from the fisherman's crate or wade through the shallows to the offshore Rabbit Island.

Gumusluk village, is about 25 km from Bodrum and 1km from Gumusluk bay. In the village you will find the post office and local shops including hardware stores, pharmacies, butchers, plumbers, electricians, and carpenters that line the two sides of the street.

Weekly market day is Wednesday in Gumusluk.

YALIKAVAK
18 km away from Bodrum centre on the north western tip of the Bodrum Peninsula, has grown in size over recent years, but remains still very much a place where the locals welcome holiday makers with open arms. The permanent inhabitants of Yalikavak number around 6,800 people.

Yalikavak is becoming ever more popular as an alternative resort to Bodrum. The small harbour is surrounded by restaurants and bars, and while there is the occasional disco bar, the general atmosphere is quiet, unhurried and relaxed, yet further along the shoreline is a new sophisticated Marina.

Approaching Yalikavak from Bodrum you cannot help but notice the stunning panoramic view of Yalikavak Bay. This fertile coastal region is ideal for sailing and all water sports and attracts many foreign yachts to the Marina and old harbour that once sheltered mainly fishing boats.

Fishing & Seafood
Yalikavak still supports a thriving fishing industry and the restaurants around the picturesque harbour display a wide selection of fresh fish every day. The town is known for its excellent seafood restaurants - try Sait, you won't be disappointed.

Restaurants
Yalikavak has a huge selection of restaurants to suit all tastes.

Shopping & Market
There are many shops in the traffic free centre, selling local wares and tourist items.
Every Thursday there is a colourful weekly market split in 2 halves. Clothes, textiles and traditional Turkish wares on one side, and the other with fruit, vegetables, great choices of olives, herbs and spices.

Marina
Just a few minutes walk along the shoreline from the centre of Yalikvak is the new Marina. The Marina is home to many large yachts and is visited by yachts from all over the world in summer. It has stylish shops and several restaurants and cafes, plus a seaside 2,500 seater Amphitheatre used for open air concerts and fashion shows during the summer months.

Beaches
The main beach in Yalikavak is long and narrow and lined with a few restaurants. It is easy to sit back and not worry where your next drink or meal will come from! Yalikavak's beach is never busy and you won't be sandwhiched in amongst sun loungers. Away from the harbour end of town, the quieter the beach becomes. Yal?kavak is always said to be a little cooler in the summer than other parts of the region due to the gentle offshore breezes. Whereas Bodrum is hot, in all respects, in summer.

Yalikavak is renowned for its superb sunsets and unspoilt shoreline. Its sparkling clean sea is one of the few remaining abodes of the endangered “Monachus Monachus” Mediterranean seals and therefore a protected area. In 2002 Yalikavak Bay was awarded the "Blue Flag" for its clean waters.

“Beautiful villa in a beautiful location”

Reviewed 7 Sep 2015

I have recently returned from my stay in Villa Roya with a party of 6. The villa itself is exactly as you see in the pictures, if not even more amazing. The villa was immaculate on our arrival and the owners had even provided us with some bread and water for our arrival which was greatly appreciated. All rooms are modern and everything in the villa is brand new. The kitchen was stocked with every utensil we could have needed Having a private pool with sun loungers was a real bonus as well. The owners' attention to detail was evident and really made a difference. The location of the villa is fantastic. We hired a car for the week and found we were easily able to drive to Bodrum and Yalikavak. We would all definitely recommend visiting Limon restaurant which is walking distance from the villa. The food and drinks were fantastic, and the view of the sunset was spectacular. Hurdem the villa manager was most helpful when we needed to contact her. I booked through Peninsula Villa Care (as I have done previously) and once again I cannot fault this company. The booking process is simple, and well organised. I fully trust Annie in terms of advice and recommendations. We booked our hire car through the company and this again was so simple, and also so reasonably priced. I would without doubt recommend Villa Roya and Peninsula Villa Care to anyone wanting a laid back yet luxury holiday for a reasonable price. I am sure we will be returning to the Peninsula soon enough!

“Beautiful villa in a fantastic location. Everything and everyone catered for. Perfect!”

Reviewed 1 Jun 2015

Within seconds of arriving at Villa Roya I knew I wouldn't want to leave. The villa is spacious and furnished to a very high standard, with all the conveniences you would ever want (wifi, fully functioning kitchen, air con etc) but with the complete privacy of a luxury villa. The private pool is large and clean, and surrounded by incredibly comfortable sun loungers and seating, with shady spots afforded by the large parasols. You can sit out by the pool, watching the sun go down, which is a piece of heaven. The rooms are large, clean and again beautifully furnished. The master bedroom has a large balcony with the most comfortable sofas I've ever experienced(!) and it makes for another prime spot for watching the sun go down. The villa is situated ideally between Gumusluk and Yalikavak, the latter including the incredibly marina, with lots of restaurants and shops. Gumusluk, a small fishing village, also has several seaside restaurants. We had dinner and a brunch at Café Limon in Gumusluk, a beautiful secret garden with fantastic food. All of the local restaurants we went to had lovely, fresh food and all at incredibly reasonable prices. We went to Bodrum for the day (another short distance) and enjoyed a full day of shopping and lunch. Finally, the JW Marriott Bodrum has just opened very near the villa. Incredible hotel with a spa, restaurants and bars. Excellent views. Overall, a fantastic holiday and I would return to Villa Roya without hesitation. I booked through Peninsula Villas, who were very efficient.
