The peaceful grounds surrounding the manor offer spectacular views of Penzance and the world famous St Michael's Mount.

With easy access to stunning beach walks, rock-pooling and lots of other free activities, the Manor is also ideally located for access to the County's stunning part of the national coastal path and for general walking amenity.

The closest beach is at Long Rock (10 minutes by car) and along Mounts Bay but of course Cornwall is famous for its many other vast sandy beaches such as Carbis Bay on the north coast a few miles away by car.

There is a Morrisons on the main road approach to Gulval, which has an excellent fresh, locally sourced fish counter and a 24 hour Tesco at the bottom of the hill in Gulval, about 4 minutes drive away, from the Manor.

Gulval is just a few hundred yards down the hill, and has a post office and limited general store. The local pub, the Coldstreamer Inn, opposite the church, is now one of the most popular restaurants in the area, serving an interesting menu based on local produce.

The England region

Last year saw Cornwall, once again, fight off the competition from across the UK to be crowned 'Best UK Holiday County or Region' in the British Travel Awards, widely known as the 'Oscars' of the travel industry. If you have an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch, you can download a free app 'Resort Cornwall on the App Store.

Cornwall is well known for its 'micro-climate' resulting from it's close proximity to the Gulf Stream and because it is is effectively a peninsula. So, when the forecast in England is poor it is often lovely weather in Cornwall, and even when it has'soft' Cornish weather (missling rain), it soon passes and the sun comes out.

West Cornwall area is consequently a premier holiday destination and offers something for everyone. Take your time to relax and bask in the sunshine, enjoying many of the golden beaches that adorn the West Cornwall coastline or take a relaxing walk through the lush moorland or a more energetic hike through the clifftops which will give you access to amazing scenery and you may be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of dolphins playing in the Ocean on the famous National Coastal path. The walk between Mousehole and Lamorna is one of the top 10 most popular walks in the UK, and has to be recommended because it is completely stunning with an amazing variety of environments in a short distance. The Spring flowers are spectacular and summer butterflys exceptional.

Picturesque and historic villages can be discovered everywhere and there is always something happening in the summer months that range from local festivals, such as Golawen in Penzance held between 20 – 27 June, fish festivals, to outdoor activities including the famous outdoor Minack theatre, through to surfing and diving schools.

How's this for a comment from a Cornwall visitor to the world famous Sennen Cove "For and ideal day out, I would arrive at Sennen Cove and park outside Chapel Idne surf shop. Soon we'd be in the pristine sea, with dolphins, seals and basking sharks, riding waves and chatting with the regulars. As the sun sets over the Isles of Scilly, there's no better place to be".

There is an abundance of culture, heritage and spirit in this area, including the famous Newlyn Art Gallery and Barbara Hepworth Museum and Tate Gallery in St Ives.

Sample the wonderful Cornish cuisine in one of the many traditional English pubs or watch the sun set whilst enjoying a cream tea and cakes in one of the many cafes. This area is also a must for shoppers with its mix of big name retail outlets and smaller eclectic shops.

Whether you are looking for an action packed holiday, family holiday or somewhere to get away from it all, West Cornwall is an ideal destination for any type of holidaymaker.

Gulval

The apartment is a perfect base from which to explore the delights of West Cornwall, because everything is within such easy reach.

Gulval is just a few hundred yards down the hill, from the Manor, and has a post office and limited general store. The Church, dating from the 14th century, is surrounded by a unique exotically planted graveyard, where you can find the Pirate's Grave and a magical well. During the Summer months church goers offer home made Cornish cream teas in the church to raise funds to maintain the Church and its exotic grounds. The local pub, the Coldstreamer Inn, opposite the church, serves an interesting menu based on local Cornish produce, and is currently widely known as one of the best restaurants in West Cornwall.

Sitting on the shores of Mount's Bay an dominated by the majestic island castle of St Michael's Mount, is Penzance, a town surrounded by outstanding natural beauty. Crystal clear waters and award winning beaches, ancient moorlands and sub-tropical plants, secluded coves and cliff-top walks make this most westerly borough of Cornwall a true delight to visit.

Penzance itself has a fascinating history as a seafaring town which has now developed a vibrant cafe and restaurant culture. It also 'boasts' having one of the only outdoor Art Deco lidos, the Jubilee Pool, opened in 1935 - the year of King George V's silver jubilee. It is currently undergoing renovation after the storms in 2012.

And, with other popular towns, top beaches and the "hidden" corners of the peninsula never being more than 10 miles from Penzance it makes an ideal centre from which to explore the west of Cornwall.

From the grand entrance and long sweeping drive of Kenegie Manor you will see the fairytale St Michael's Mount Castle, the centre piece of stunning Mounts Bay. Land's End, and the picturesque fishing villages of St Ives, Mousehole and Newlyn, with it's fish festival on the last Monday in August, are all close at hand. St Ives is a very popular Cornish resort town and is approximately 6 miles away and offers the world famous Tate Gallery and Barbara Hepworth museum.

Holiday Haemodialysis is available in Penzance at a satellite hospital unit but you will need to book very early as it is understandably popular. For more information please contact the owner as I am not allowed to put the hospital's email address here! The beautiful sandy and blue flag acclaimed beaches of Sennen and Gwithian, Hayle are both also within a short distance of the property. The area abounds with Theme Parks and holiday attractions such as Flambards, The Eden Project, Minack open air' Theatre and Paradise Park Wildlife Sanctuary.

Great local events include the Helston Flora Day on 8th May and the Golawen Festival in Penzance between 21 - 30 June, with Maizey Day being on 29 June. 26 August is the Newlyn Fish Festival. An exceptional event is the Penzance Montol Festival between the 14 - 22nd December.

“The Arundel Wing, An Absolute Delight!”

Reviewed 9 Aug 2016

We loved everything about this accomodation. The owner, Mary, provides customer service of the highest order; this should be the benchmark by which other organisations gauge their performance in this area! All official communication was efficiently dealt with, and refreshingly written in plain English. Any questions asked were answered promptly. Mary obviously has a great love of Cornwall, and took the time to answer questions I had regarding how to extract the most from our week long stay. Her local knowledge is fantastic, and questions were answered very promptly. Directions to Kenegie Manor were very straightforward, again written in plain English, and very accurate. This is probably the first holiday where I have not found myself 'temporarily unsure of my position' whilst driving in ever decreasing circles trying to locate our accommodation; thank you Mary! The accommodation is comfortably and tastefully furnished, maintained to a high standard and very well equipped. If peace and quiet is what you wish for to unwind after a busy day walking the coast or surfing, then this is absolutely the place for you. The walls of this manor are so thick and well insulated that utter quiet, peace and tranquility is yours if you can locate the off switch on the children! Kenegie Manor is also an excellent base from which to explore the west of Cornwall. There are three supermarkets within a 10 minute, easy drive. Lands End is very accessible, as are many other beautiful places to visit, such as Sennen Cove (visit the Little Bo Cafe for great cakes and cool vibes!), Lamorna Cove, and Mousehole. St.Michael's Mount is less than a twenty minute drive away, and if the opportunity presents itself, take in a show at the beautiful Minnack Theatre, also within easy reach. Porthcurno Beach is close by the Minnack Theatre, and thoroughly recommended. Mackerel Sky restaurant in Penzance is a lovely place to while away an evening, with the excellent menu being complemented by equally excellent staff and a high standard of service. A word to the wise; pre-book a table. This is only a small restaurant and extremely popular. You will always struggle to have anything but a fantastic time holidaying in Cornwall, but The Arundel Wing really is the icing on the cake.

Dear Lee I am absolutely delighted that you loved the Arundel Wing, having provided all you needed for a stress free holiday with nothing to complain about. Mission accomplished! A wonderful sanctuary, although I have not yet perfected the 'off button' for the children! And, thank you also for taking the time to write such a great review; I am blushing somewhat but very delighted that you were happy with the whole holiday experience. There is nothing better than a personal recommendation for West Cornwall, I am also very pleased to hear that the Mackerel Sky is doing well; it was great place for a chilled out night when it opened but I had heard it had changed hands and wondered if it had continued to be a great success. Thank you very much again for taking the time to write such a great review and thank you also for booking The Arundel Wing. Hopefully, you have many happy memories to share to get you through to your next escape and we will hear from you again when you next plan to explore beautiful Cornwall. Very best wishes Mary
