Location description from owner

The Turkish Aegean Coast region

Protected by the Dodecanese islands, they call this part of the Aegean the Turquoise Coast and you will understand why when you see the startling blue colour of the water.

Small, frequently deserted bays border the coastline around Gulluk. There are boat trips available from the harbour at a very reasonable daily rate. These boats depart in the mornings and lunch is provided on board. There are usually visits made to several bays and fishing is also an option, under the guidance of the crew. Swimming and snorkelling is also a possible pastime during these days out, as well as beachcombing or just lying and relaxing on deck.

The local people in Gulluk are very welcoming and prices of meals in the local restaurants are very reasonable.

The climate is very warm from Spring with temperatures in the mid 20's and reaching up to 40C in late July and August. The cooling breezes from the sea make all but the highest temperatures bearable.

Gulluk

Gulluk is an authentic fishing town in the north of the Bodrum Peninsula. Gulluk is surrounded by hills covered with olive, fig and citrus trees overlooking Gulluk Bay, which is known as a 'fishing paradise' in Turkey. Gulluk is a small resort surrounded by the pine topped hills of the Gulluk Korfezi (Gulf of Mandalya) on the southern Aegean coast of Turkey.

Turkey, itself, has a very rich history and it is possible from this location to visit Ephesus and the Mausoleum at Halikarnassus (Bodrum); two of the original Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. There are tours available to these locations and drivers/guides can often be found by asking any of the boat owners down by the harbour-front.

There is a golf course at Tuzla http://www.laketuzlagolf.com/golf.html.

Shopping is available in the village (Thursday being market day) and also in Bodrum and Milas, a Dolmus(small bus) can be used to travel to both these locations with little cost.

If you want to hire a car try the car hire/estate agents in the village. Haggle for best rate.

“Cool, Spacious Apartment with Fabulous Views”

Reviewed 4 Sep 2012

This is a lovely modern apartment, with quality furnishings and good equipment. The views of the Bay, Gulluk village and marina are stunning. It is well positioned and within easy walking distance of the village which has lots of excellent eateries and good shops including a number of supermarkets. The pool area is very nice and, in August at least, the unheated pool was a great temperature. The whole complex including the pool is very well maintained. Wifi is excellent - you just need to take your equipment and register it with the management office and it works just fine (we had 5 pieces of equipment registered for wifi with no problems). Good satelite TV as well. There is a great Beach Club just opposite where you can spend your day swimming in the lovely warm sea and lazing on sun loungers on decking positioned just at the water's edge (great if you do not like getting sand in everything). I would thoroughly recommend Gulluk and this lovely apartment for a truly relaxing holiday - just slow down and admire the views. Bodrum is an easy 45 minute dolmus ride away. A boat trip on Mehmet Donmez's boat is also a must - just great fun for all ages. And to top it all you are only 10 minutes from the airport but don't worry about noise from planes overhead because it just isn't a problem. Just two things to make you aware of: the night club opposite can go on late into the night and there is some noise from it but, in all honesty, it did not really bother us. Also, there is just the one shower room - not really a problem for a family.

“Huge, well furnished apartment with magnificant sea views.”

This apartment feels like an ocean liner when you open the door and see the sea from every window. You also overlook the immaculate pool. There is a short but steep walk down to the sea -no beach but a choice of beach bars and a little shop for essentials. Gulluk is a working fishing town rather than a purpose built resort. There are lots of places to eat well and cheaply especially along the harbour edge. We enjoyed the boat tour most. There didn't seem much to do particularly for teenagers but perhaps we didn't look very hard.
