For those seeking an active holiday you will not be disappointed! Here are some of the many activities Brittany has on offer:
Sailing, fishing, golf, horse riding, cycling & mountain biking, walking & hiking, boat cruises, scuba diving, quad biking, water sports, canoeing & so much more!!

Guemene-sur-Scorff

Our 5 star self catering cottages are just a 2 minute drive from the village of Langoelan where you will find a very pretty church, a small shop, a bar and restaurant/pizzeria. Langoelan is also home to the pretty Lac du Dordu, a large lake attracting many birds & other interesting wildlife.

Guemene-sur-Scorff, a pretty medieval village with ancient houses, cobbled streets & ruined Chateau right in the heart of town, is just a 5 mile drive from Brittany Spa Cottages. This is a lively village and is home to many festivals & fairs throughout the season. Here you will find a number of shops, bars and restaurants plus pharmacies, banks, doctors, new-agents, grocers and an excellent tourist office. There is also a large Intermarche supermarket just on the edge of town.
Pontivy
Pontivy is a large attractive town, 25 minutes drive from your luxury holiday accommodation. Here where flower adorned bridges crisscross the Nantes-Brest Canal, you will find a town with two distinct parts:
A medieval sector with half timbered buildings and narrow, twisting cobbled streets and the beautiful chateau des Rohan whose origins date back to 1479. Then there is the Imperial sector, with straight, stately avenues & buildings created on the orders of Napoleon who aimed to make Pontivy a great military base. For a while Pontivy was known as Napoleonville!
Pontivy has many excellent shops and restaurants and two large supermarkets on either side of town. With Nantes-Brest Canal running right through the town it’s a pretty place to sit and watch the canal-boating activities; or even hire a canoe and paddle off down the canal to visit one of the many picturesque canal-side villages like St-Nicholas-des-Eaux.

Lac de Guerledan, just a 20 minute drive, is a huge & stunning lake stretching for 12km and surrounded by the beautiful forest of Quenecan; which has many scenic trails for walking, hiking & mountain biking. The Lac de Guerledan was created in the 1930’s when the valley was flooded following the construction of an enormous damn across the Blavet River. Nowadays it’s a very popular center for all sorts of boating activities and water sports. There is also a small sandy beach here and lakeside restaurant & bar.
Beaches.
Nearest sandy beaches are to be found at Port-Louis and Larmor Plage, both approximately 45 minutes drive. Port-Louis retains much of its charm and character with an imposing Citadel guarding the mouth of the rivers Scorff & Blavet.
Larmor Plage, close to the commercial town of Lorient, is a huge expanse of golden sand which is popular with kite surfers and families.

The Golfe de Morbihan
Around Vannes & the Golfe du Morbihan
Just over an hours drive south east brings you to the large, medieval cathedral city of Vannes. Pass through the busy modern city to discover the walled old quarter, full of ancient half timbered buildings, narrow streets & elegant shops & restaurants.
Vannes has a large attractive marina and is a great base to begin your tour of the Golfe de Morbihan either by car, boat or on foot!
THE GOLFE DU MORBIHAN, is the jewel in the crown of Southern Brittany. Literally meaning ‘little sea’ in Breton, this landlocked lagoon is dotted with 100’s of picturesque islands, most of which are only inhabited by wildlife. The best way to see the Golfe is by boat; take an organized cruise, or hire a motor boat or sailing dingy and discover deserted beaches & hidden coves for a bit of skinny dipping!
For walking enthusiasts the well marked coastal path is a great way to explore the Golfe. From Larmor Baden it is possible to walk across to the pretty Ile Berder via a narrow causeway. But make sure you take note of the returning tide times at the entrance if you don’t want to swim back to port!

AURAYis quaint small town with lots of little shops and an excellent market on Monday mornings. Walk down the steep streets to the picturesque old port of St Goustan and here you will find many good restaurants along the water’s edge.

CARNAC, just to the south of Auray, is world famous for its excellent collection of prehistoric mysterious stone monuments. These megalithic Alignement sites are home to some 3000 menhirs (standing stones) Dolmens & Tumulus.
Carnac also has a small up market village & resort with an excellent pure white long sandy beach.

Brittany is a very popular walking & cycling holiday destination, with 100’s of excellent way marked trails to explore. With huge lakes, magical forests, serene rivers & stunning coastline, the scenery is as diverse as it is beautiful. Our local area of the Scorff Valley has some 400km of marked trails through the woodland & along river.

The tourist office in Guemene-sur-Scorff provides handy Randonnes cards with detailed maps & information on the various hiking circuits. You will find a selection of these cards in your cottage. Right from the front door of Jasmine cottage or Orchid Barn, you can start with the leisurely 5.3 km walk ‘Boucle du Paradis’ which takes in the nature reserve of the nearby Etang du Dordu at Langoelan.
Water Sports.

“Fabulous, comfortable cottage”

Reviewed 4 Apr 2012

Jasmine Cottage, is a 'home away from home'. it looks very comfortable and luxurious on the website but upon arrival, it really exceeded or expectations. We were welcomed by Denise. Both her and Julie, were extremely welcoming and always at hand to assist with any questions. The cottage is bright, spotlessly clean and above all comfortable with all the comforts that you want on holiday. The beds are so comfortable, with lovley linens and towels. They provided a cot with mattress and highchair for our 20month old which was fantastic. So much easier than having to bring it with you. our daughter slept so well whilst there! The welcome pack is the best welcome back that we have ever had. I expected small sachets of coffee, sugar, milk, butter, jam etc. but no it was proper fresh milk and not sachets. all that you needed to have a snack/meal the next day with no worries of having to get to a supermarket etc. The garden is very private and lovely. There are loungers, a parasol and a bbq. we spent a lot of time enjoying the garden with our daughter as the weather was just fabulous! we were very lucky! we had a couple of bbqs. The kitchen has everything that you need; lots of suacepans and utensils. The shower is powerful and there is a lot of hot water! Whilst we were there their Shetland pony was in the paddock at the back of the cottage, this was a big hit with our daughter! We thoroughly relaxed on our holiday at Jasmine Cottage. It was so peaceful and perfect. We felt like we had been away for longer than a week. We would highly recommend Jasmine cottage. It is a notch above a lot of the french gites that we have stayed in before and Denise and Julie have this spot on, knowing what you want when on holiday. I would definitely return to Jasmine cottage, possibly in the autumn if i can persuade my husband!

“Excellent accommodation for a restful holiday”

Reviewed 29 Sep 2011

We stayed here for a week in September and the property was excellent. We would highly recommend it for a restful holiday although with easy access to beaches and towns. It was lovely to come back to relax in the hot tub. Denise and Julie were excellent host - unobtrusive but there when you needed them. The welcome pack is the best we have ever received. The cottage itself was well equipped and spotlessly clean. The beds had really good mattresses to ensure a good night's sleep.

“Beautiful gite with wonderful hosts in Brittany”

Reviewed 18 Aug 2011

My wife, 2 year old daughter & I recently enjoyed a wonderful week at this gite. A delightful old farm building that has been immaculately renovated with all the "mod cons". Lovely private garden, and a top quality hot tub that my hot tub truly fell in love with! The hosts were very helpful but respectful of privacy, and I would strongly recommend to anyone interested in a quiet homely holiday for a small family!

“High standard comfortable accommodation in a beautiful setting”

Reviewed 14 Aug 2011

A beautifully decorated cottage in a courtyard next to the owners' house and another gite. Has its own peaceful private garden with sun loungers and a covered area, and private use of the hot tub, which we used most days. It's been thoughtfully decorated with modern facilities such as flat screen tv, dvd, games, books, and it has a good bathroom. The beds are extremely comfortable with lovely bedlinen and toileteries. The owners provided a generous welcome basket of local produce which was lovely to arrive to. The courtyard is very tranquil with a picture-postcard quality, which makes it a very relaxing place to spend a week. The location is rural but the roads are peaceful enough to go for a walk or a jog through the countryside, with easy access to the local town. The owners are friendly and on hand if any advice is needed.

“Beautiful Cottage in lovely location”

Reviewed 13 Aug 2011

Denise & Julie have created a lovely place to stay & explore Brittany from, and are very friendly and welcoming hosts. Full and modern facilities, but a charming old farmhouse style setting in the countryside. The hot tub was great too!

“Charming Jasmine Cottage - a relaxing and very special place.”

Reviewed 26 Jul 2011

On arrival we were immediately put at ease by our hosts Denise and Julie who took great delight in showing us around personally and telling us all about charming Jasmine Cottage and its garden and surroundings. We were not disappointed and found Jasmine Cottage to be everything we had hoped for. Denise and Julie were close at hand to help if needed and always willing to help. As a result we found we were able to properly relax and enjoy a trouble free stay which included cycle rides along the nearby Nantes to Brest Canal, visits to Pontivy, Benodet and Concarneau and Le Poldu Plage as well as the traditional trips to the boulangerie to buy baguettes. The private garden was sheltered and benefits from the sun during most of the day. The roads were quiet and meant it was a pleasure to get around. The hot tub was a sheer joy! “Fabulous cottage in the heart of the Morbihan area of Brittany.”

Reviewed 18 Jul 2011

The cottage is extremely comfortable and spacious and set in a beautiful hamlet in the Brittany countryside. The cottage has recently been refurbished and furnished to a very high standard and it became an ongoing joke / challenge to find something that the owners hadn't provided in the cottage for our use during our stay; we couldn't fault anything. The owners were charming and provided some very welcome food (fresh baguette, cheese, milk (not UHT!) and much more) together with a bottle of wine for our arrival as well as providing equipment for our 8 month old. They also provided helpful information on local sights, restaurants and facilities. We have stayed in many cottages and this was the best we have stayed in by far. We hope to go back soon and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing and peaceful break in a luxurious cottage (even with a young baby!).
