Apartment Guejar Sierra is an ideally located 2 Bedroom/2 Bathroom apartment in the beautiful and picturesque village of Guejar Sierra, Sierra Nevada Mountains, Andalucia, Southern Spain.

The apartment can accommodate up to 6 people with a double room, a twin & a comfortable double sofa bed in the lounge. It has heating/ air-conditioning/ roof fans/ floor fans/childs pop up cot/large tv/ Xbox/DVD player/ full working kitchen including microwave, oven, electric hob, marble floor and a large balcony with the amazing views across the village and the Sierra Nevadas. There is an internal dining room table that can seat 6 and one on the balcony that can seat 4 for dining outside.

This mountain village is one of the most beautiful and charming in the Granada area. Typical of Southern Spain, the small whitewashed houses nestle against each other to protect from the summer heat. It is just 15 minutes drive from the amazing Alhambra Palace, 25 minutes from the City of Granada, 20 minutes from the most Southerly Ski resort in Europe and 1 hour from the beaches of the Costa del Sol.

As well as little walks around the small flower blazened alleyways of the village, there are walks for keener abilities. Serious hikers can enjoy some fabulous 6+ hour hikes up to and around the high peak of 'Mulhacen' (Spain's highest mountain).

The most famous of these being the 'Vereda de la Estrella'. Rope bridges and steep winding paths challenge you all the way up with overnight refuges available for the more hardy of us. (there is a large wall map of the mountain range in the hall of the apartment so you can plan your walking and hiking by looking at that)

The Village has many small bars (generally doted behind small curtains in the alley ways with a little sign outside)and some good restaurants. La Fabriquilla, El Charcón Restaurant, Los Castaños, Restaurant Maitena to name a few with our favourite being 'La Hacilla'. Restaurant La Hacilla and the Coffee shop in the square all have Wifi access if you need internet when wondering around the village. It also has many activities available to do from horse riding to bike hire to swimming in the beautiful lake at the bottom of the village or lovely pool situated at the villages one campsite (info for these available from the owner - please email). There is a beautiful lake that is situated at the foot of the village which can be swam in for a large part of the year (winter and part of Spring too cold really, but beautiful in Summer and Autumn). You can also fish (unrestricted) in this lake if you are looking for other ways to relax.

For families there is a water park 10 minutes away at Cenes de la Vega, kayaking on the lake (at the foot of the village) in the summer (Euro 5 per hour), hiking, horse-riding, canyoning, mountain-biking, paragliding (details in info guide in the flat) and a wonderful summer fiesta in August with horse events, processions and activities for children plus free food, sangria and dancing in the village square.

For winter ski visitors there is a now a cheaper option ski rental shop in Guejar itself - so you can save time and get kitted out in the village, before heading up to the slopes.

A must if you have the time is a trip to the Alhambra Palace. One of the most famous and beautiful palaces in Europe with its world famous gardens and outbuildings. On top of this Granada is one of the Andalucia's oldest and most beautiful city.

The best viewpoint to see the size and beauty of the Alhambra is in the old quarter of Granada. This area is known as the 'The Albayzín' and is a World Heritage site. It rises on a hill facing the Alhambra. Cosy little moorish bars are dotted either side of the cobbled streets on the way up to the church of St. Nicolas. The viewpoint is at the front of the church.

Granada is the nearest Airport (30 minutes drive) with regular flights from London City Airport via British Airways. Otherwise Malaga is the next nearest main Airport (1.5hrs drive) with flights from all over the UK, predominantly with Ryanair and Easyjet.

A hire car is highly recommended although there is an hourly bus up from Granada (with regular connecting buses from Granada and Malaga Airport) that runs throughout the day and the village has more than one small supermarket and food shops to be able to get supplies. There is a 4 person lift that takes you to the 3rd floor where the apartment is situated.
