This beautifully restored Italian country house sits in its own plot enjoying wonderful views of the countryside. It is ideally located for both the beach and the mountains. The Blue Flag beaches of the Adriatic are only 20 minutes by car and the mountains of the Maiella national park, where you can ski are 15 minutes away. The house offers all that you will need for a wonderfully relaxing holiday, it is tranquil and is not overlooked or bordered by any other house, all you will hear are birds singing and rustling of the olive trees. It enjoys not only a panoramic view but the sun from sunrise to sunset, perfect for those who just want to sit out on one of the two terraces and relax with a glass or two of the local Montepulciano wine.In addition to relaxing at the house or eating in the local restaurants there are host of activities and things to do, from hiking, sailing, scuba diving through walks, white water rafting, golf to horse riding. 3. Rock climbing

4. Skiing - there is a small resort 25 minutes from the house - I ski there all winter and was skiing last year on Christmas morning. There are bigger resorts close by - Roccaraso (100k of pistes) is about 1 hr 15 minutes away

5. Hiking - there are extensive trails in the Maiella National Park

6. Cycling - at weekends you will see many cyclists, some along the coast and some brave souls who go up the mountains (2000 m above sea level!)

7. White water rafting

8. Monkey world - tree climbing with a difference in the Maella national park.

In addition to the above activities there are a huge range of historical sites to explore, from hidden hermitages in the mountains through Roman ruins to heaps of ruined castles (forgive the pun). I am happy to provide suggestions as for things to do and see

In addition if walking is more up your street have a look at the following site walking holidays abruzzo com - all one word!

Location description from owner

The Abruzzo region

Abruzzo is a beautiful region often overlooked by tourists. It has spectacular mountains, sea, natural scenery, medieval castles and villages, monasteries, and Roman ruins. Two-thirds of the Abruzzo's land is mountainous with the rest being hills and coast. A third of the region is designated as national or regional parkland. Bordering regions are the Marche to the north, Lazio to the west, Molise to the south, and the Adriatic Sea to the east.Climate: long hot summers with lots of snow in winter. Closer skiing to Rome. Ski resort 10 km from house

Guardiagrele

There are wide range of things to see and do locally for both those looking for a quiet relaxing holiday and those looking for something a bit more sporty.Horse riding can be arranged locally. Please contact us for details. The area is ideal for mountain biking and hiking. Again contact for further details. The property borders on the Maiella national park where you will find stunning scenery and wonderful wildlife including wolves, bears and owls amongst others. The area is full of small mountainous villages each with their own festivals, traditions, customs and even their own dialect. Email for further details. It is an ecologically pure region. The house is ideally located for both the beach and the mountains. You could be skiing in the morning and swimming in the Adriatic in the afternoon (at least in Spring). There are range of things to do from, depending on the season, skiing, swimming, in both lakes and the sea, climbing, cycling, mountain biking, watersports, hiking, bird watching, mushroom picking, fishing and if you have any energy left, eating and sunbathing! Or just go to the village and take a coffee or apertivo with the locals and watch the world go by.The food is wonderful and inexpensive, with fantastic local wines and olive oils. You can take part in grape and olive picking if you really want to experience the area. All of the above does not do justice to the warm welcome you will find from the local people.
